I just got a $40 debit card in the mail today for a previously rejected Symantec rebate. I think it was the one that also had an invalid UPC error (and also the audit error, so I had not contacted them). The upgrade rebate for $20 also shows as valid, I assume I will receive it in the next day or two.

I am in the same boat. Symantec/Parago want to kill of their rebate purchasers..so be it. Let's see how much of their software they sell at full price. I'm only giving away links to cnet.download.com/AVG,avast now, no more free software for friends and family. I'm still earning miles elsewhere.

I stopped Parago FAR items immediately after I received my first 'audit fail' (I have since received my rebate). After reading someone's post that their Kaspersky rebates are under audit or review, I've stopped doing them too. The past year was pretty good, but I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.
Wreptyle said: This thread sure went dead after all the rebate fiascos...Once Fry's started backing up the rebate rejections for fraudulent reasons, there were no longer any safeguards for consumers. Parago's once-sterling reputation has been irreparably damaged, and they were the biggest processor. 4myrebate lost their reputation with zipzoomfly's (formerly googlegear's) collapse, and took years to regain a portion of it.
This is from a PC Tools Rebate (Symantec Product):
"Symantec limits the amount of rebate requests across all Norton rebate promotions that are submitted per household or organization in a year to $1000. Further, Symantec reserves the right to deny requests for rebates if other factors indicate a violation of these terms and conditions."

Do sponsors ever pull these "hidden" rebates? If they are available for pre-submission, slim/no chance, if it's only available in pdf form, possibly but unlikely.I think it's very unlikely. Odds are the upgrade rebates will show up on Frys again once the full price rebates have expired.
The hidden AVG upgrade rebates run for a year, the Kaspersky upgrade rebate runs for a quarter but the Norton and Powerdirector upgrade rebates only run for a week. So in trying to figure out how to use the hidden rebates that only last a week, I looked at the deals Frys is promoting. For Powerdirector, they're promoting a $30 product rebate and a $30 upgrade rebate (both valid betw May 15 to May 30). The hidden upgrade rebate for Powerdirector is for $10 and runs May 8 to May 17 (they promoted it betw May 8 to May 15) -- so is the idea of the hidden Powerdirector rebate that we could turn in a 3rd rebate (1 product, 2 upgrades) during the overlapping days (May 15-17)? For Norton, Frys is promoting a single rebate -- a product rebate for $65 (covering full price) that runs May 15 to May 23. The hidden Norton upgrade rebate covers the same period -- May 15 to May 23. So, it looks like that rebate would expire on the same day as the full price rebate. If that's the case, what's likely to happen -- would they extend the upgrade offer (same number but longer offer period or is that rare/unlikely for Norton upgrades), pull/terminate it so that it won't work as a hidden rebate or forget about it and let it remain active?

I don't see what the big deal is here - worst case you just get the items for free. Best case (and very likely) you get the second rebate. Either do it or don't do it. Don't waste people's time trying to get us explain to you multiple times why it's fine.
That's a weird response. I'm new to this and trying to get some basic understanding of what's being proposed. A normal response from someone might have been: (1) Powerdirector -- Yes, a third rebate is the deal or no it's something else that you're not seeing. (2) Norton -- Yes, it may not work because the rebate will expire May 23 but take a shot. If that's too much for you and your response is typical of what I can expect in this forum, then, your'e right, I am wasting my time here.

There is no reason (other than your uninformed guessing based on who knows what knowledge you have) that the dates on the forms will not be honored or that they will be extended. The items are going to be free after rebate even if the extra rebates are rejected, and worst case you will be out a postage stamp for each product. I don't see what the big deal is.
You've been given sufficient information. No one else here has questioned whether these are valid. If you are not satisfied enough to take a chance on the rebates, then just walk away and don't bother.
