Ok, I was just reading on some other GPS forum. A guy was saying that he owns this model and a different one and explained how he got a 1 Gig SD card and it holds almost the entire country except a couple states. SO I think tis one does hold the 1 gig.
I'm also trying to find some information regarding whether or not I'm gonna end up needing to buy maps for this or if I'll have full map coverage in the box for the continental US and maybe mex and can? Mainly the US maps are important. Any help appreciated. |

FYI
From navmanusa.com:
Q.) Can maps be installed into the internal memory of the iCN510. A.) No, an SD (secure digital) memory card must be used for map storage. We recommend a 256Mb or 512Mb card.
It does not say it is limited to 512mb.

Even if it won't handle a 1gb SD, you could still always use multiple cards. I'm on the fence about picking one of these up. I want to replace my trusty Streetpilot, but I hate to buy something that's already past "leading edge."
Anyone know how the topographical maps look? I do a lot of desert off-roading, and if it shows things like springs, caves, and other geological features (say, on par with Garmin's Mapsource Topo or Roads and Rec.) then I'll jump on it.
EDIT: The European review of the iCN 510 lists Topographical maps as being included, but the US version does not. Anyone know exactly what map features are available in the US version? Obviously it's not designed for hiking, biking, etc, but are the maps usable for in-car off-road use? |

nope, you're wrong. This has 32mb internal memory, but you can't load maps into it. You need an SD or MMC card for that.
thepowerpig said: You can't load ANY maps into the GPS without an SD card, which is not included! Wrong, it has 32 meg. You can probably load your local area into the unit but a SD card is needed for state/region.
Does it show estimated arrival time, speed, etc like a Garmin does? Yes
Has anyone's order from early yesterday shipped? Today is a holiday. Nothing will ship until Monday or Tuesday. |

Does anyone know if this baby can be used internationally? Yes, but you will have to purchase the maps for it. For all with these burning questions on this unit, please click here.

Doesn't it also come with the extended/more detailed/whatever, US maps included in the box, you just have to load em from the CD to the unit to an SD card correct? What was someone talking about earlier with the thing about unlocing region maps or having access to download em? I mean doesn't it include em all? whats the deal, thanks |

I mean doesn't it include em all? Yes, it includes them all. They load by region. What it means if you change regions, you will have to click on the change map icon and change (load) the maps for the region you`ve entered. Takes about five seconds to load from the SD card. By the way, it will take about 1.5-2.0 gigs of SD memory to hold all the maps and POI`S for the US and Canada. The Canadian mapset is very basic. |

That sounds excellent. I don't mean to sound dumb but i remember looking at some GPS units about a year ago and you had to buy more mapping software or something for em. I stopped looking cause it appeared like more trouble than it was worth. I'm not interested in the maps for Canada on a regular basis unless I was making a trip there, which is unlikely. I just wanna load the eastern half of the US and if I travel farther west once in a blue moon then I'm ok with reloading a new set for those areas. That pressing the region button doesn't sound like a big deal at all. Thanks for the info. |

Hows this one compare to the Garmin StreetPilot 2610? |

Thanks for the info. No prob. I travel quite a bit and have the eastern half on one 1gig card and the western half on another with room for other apps. This is using the Mio 168 who makes this one also. Although I did order this one, (I`m a sucker for GPS) I think the Mio 168 also known as the Navman PiN 100 is a much bigger bang for $50 more as you get a full blown PPC with GPS. The maps are very detailed with both units. Keep in mind that with the PPC based unit you aren`t locked into the GPS software that came with it. I also have Microsoft Streets and Trips loaded on mine as well as some other GPS software. Don`t get me wrong, the Navman software is really nice, but you do have a choice with the PPC based ones. |

I have an older Garmin streetpilot (the black/white screen version). Is the 510 any better than that? I need really good street detail which is why I bought mine a few yrs back. |

Does anyone know if thee maps of icn 510 will work with Navman PIN 100? I already have 510 (which is a great little unit) and am looking at ordering PIN. The only thing that's stopping me is that the maps of Pin 100 are older, so if I can use my 510 maps on 100 I'll be all set. |
