I know this has been cheaper in previous weeks but if you missed those, this is a pretty good deal. Fry's BM (NOT Outpost.com) is advertising this unit with an in-store, one day only price of $1099.00. Circuit City currently has it for $1299 with $250.00 in rebates. 110% PM to Fry's brings the cost to $1079 less the rebates. Final cost $829.00.
I just picked up the last unit (display) at an OD in Greenwood Village, CO (near Denver). The clearance price on the shelf was $749 and a $50 rebate printed out at the register, so $699 +tax was a great deal! My quandary now is that last week I bought a clearance Compaq Presario v2030us laptop from OD for about $50 more, so I gotta decide which one to keep! They are similar in appearance, but the Presario is a Centrino whereas the Pavilion is a Celeron M. Max RAM on the Presario is 1GB, max on the Pavilion is 2GB (both have 512MB installed now). Both have a 60GB hard drive, built-in 6-in-1 media reader, DVD+RW optical drive and a 14" Hi-Definition widescreen (although the Presario's is the BrightView screen). The cache on the Compaq is 1MB L2, while the HP has 512KB L2. Both seem to run about the same speed...really a toss-up.

I believe the HP you can run the DVD and CD drive without turning on the computer. (ie watching movies or listening to music). Sort of a neat feature for those who are interested in doing that.

Also in the box is this neat little wireless remote control that operates/controls the DVD player, your music collection, etc. It's the size of a PC card and is stored in the PC card slot when not in use. Pretty cool! This is for the Pavilion dv1010us model.
