Maybe the extra can be saved up for the actual date! If you're talking about my post above, I was just joking about people getting classified as cheapskates for using coupon codes. I wouldn't be a member here if I thought saving money was bad.
oh come on, brah... if you want her number, just send her a pm and ask
jeicka said: I just tried the code (Thanks, BTW!), but it can only be applied to people who already have had paid subscriptions to the site. I tried calling twice and got the same girl again. She told me she would try to update my new account so that I could try the code by next week... in the meantime I am talking to people I have no idea what they look like yet they can see me... Wish me luck!
which code did you use? I just tried U6EQT29S (prior paid user from last time there was a code at this price) but it did not work.

there are alot of discounts for sex in (every country but the usa) prices are slashed 75% or more in germany - Well i guess that kinda fits into the whole money-saving scheme - skip the date - hit up the hooker/sex clubs and no need to pay for extra baggage

Update from 3/1/2010. Just used the U6EQT29S code and it worked. 3 months for $29.85. I did have to call customer service, but everything worked fine.

my membership lapsed for a few months also, just tried the code online but it did not work, says for 1st time users only. maybe you did something different, can you please say what you did when the code worked for you?
Try calling their 1-800 number and asking a rep what the best deal is...tell them you heard about a 3 month for 20/mo deal from a friend and wanted to know if you could get in on it too. I have had good luck with this approach.

Any new codes for a member who let their sub expire?
Take it from someone that has used online dating for years. Nothing is better than real life but if you choose to go the online route, choose match over anything else. At least with match you can choose who you want to meet instead of given choices to you by some eharmony algorithm that is flawed like crazy. You often get matches from 100 miles away. Even the ones close are like the complete opposite of what you want. I think eharmony is the greatest invention in internet history:
-Charge people money to find a gf/bf -Don't let them choose the ones they want to contact with -Members never find the right person because a sorry algorithm gives them their matches -Members continue membership because the original one expired as they still have found no one
Whoever invented eHarmony was a gifted genius.
EDIT:
Additionally let me save poor souls the trouble of even signing up:
1) In eHarmony, you do the profile and yada yada yada 2) You then wait, you cannot browse a single person 3) eHarmony gives you matches, if lucky you find someone halfway decent to start the 'process' 4) This 'process' is a complete joke. First you can either break the ice or send 5 dumb questions. 5) These questions are what eHarmony believes is 'communication Step 1'. Funny how I never use these questions when I meet women in public. 6) If you are lucky, the girl will reply and ask you these same 5 dumb questions back (you are given a choice of about 30 to choose from. 7) After you both answer each other's questions, you then send must-haves and can't/stands. Wow I guess whoever created 'Step 2' was a rapper: can't/stands? Wow! 8) Now onto 'Step 3', the personal questions. You then send 3 more questions that you can either select or write yourself. These are free answer questions, not multiple choice like Step 1. 9) I know you are dying to really start the communication process so after this step, you can then start 'Step 4', real communication. Who knows why this wasn't Step 1. 10) If after all the questions back and forth and the job interview goes as planned, you can THEN and only THEN, exchange numbers or emails and set up your first date. 11) Typical start to finish from this lengthy worthless process is about 1-2 weeks on average. With match you can get this done in a day or two. 12) Good luck!

Was match.com more successful in finding you a partner?

I'm pretty sure I've used more online sites than most here. Not even bragging because I would rather meet people in person, but my current job and schedule make that hard. Nevertheless, if I were to grade the top sites (and trust me I am not making money at all with this and have many times thought about quitting online dating for good - but experience does pay in the end and dating seems like another day at work):
Real Life/Social Circles: 10/10 Match: 8/10 Speeddating: 7/10 eHarmony: 3/10 PlentyofFish: 2/10 (only great if you like desperate whales) okcupid: 2/10
I've used many others that are less known. But what you want in online dating is two things: VOLUME and QUALITY. Volume being the amount of girls you can locate FREELY in your area. This is something eHarmony gets a ZERO in. Quality being the quality of girls: looks, body, career, personality, etc. This is something many of the free sites lack.
You will never hear a more real post than this. Lifetime, I've been on more date with Match than I can count. I've met a couple of girls that were definitely keepers that you would be hard to find in a club/bar. Can't say that on the other sites.

Did you keep them? Or is your goal not marriage/long term relationship?
