The deal ends on April 25 not this Saturday as I believed.
A side note: The 0w30 is particularly hard to find. Autozone and advance auto don't even carry the 0w30. I spoke to a Mobil rep. The 0w30 is suppose to be good to replace all Xw30 oil and it saves gas. I have it in my car, it certainly feels more powerful (compare to the 10w30 dino oil).

Also see page 3 for my Mobil "insights"

Bump for any additional rebate or coupons?

Why the negative rating, because someone feels Mobil 1 is too expensive? C'mon folks, if you're going to rate something negative do it because it's a bad deal and then post why and where to get it cheaper.

Don't give something a negative rating just because you prefer using a different brand, different product, that happens to be cheaper. Just because you can get regular oil for $1.29 a quart doesn't make this a bad deal on Mobil 1 Synthetic oil.

I'm not saying it's a good deal, it just irks me to see people voting negative and no posts here saying "hey, you can get this at national store XXX for $3.79 a quart"

This is what I use in both of my family's cars - it's also the stuff that comes standard in most higher-end/performance cars. It's good stuff.
That said, this price is decent - not scorching hot, but decent. Seems to me Costco carries a 6-pack of Mobil 1 for around $26, so this is comparable. Thumbs up.

FWIW, I buy my 10w30 in the 5 quart size and it's always been around $20 at Wal-Mart. Go Synthetic!!! (but never go back, hehe)

It looks like the price of mobil 1 is increasing, even it increase slower than dino oil, at least the price in costco or sams is increasing. I think I will stock up some motor oil for rainny day. But I need 5w-20 and it is very hard to find at this time.

I just started using mobil synthetic oil.
you can easyly drive 7-8 thousand mile with this.
some can drive up to 10 - 15 thousand.
I used to use regular oil and change after 3000 mile.
so now i save money and time both.

go syntetic.

Anyone knows what will happen to the engine if you mix synthetic and regular oil?

0w30 is completely synthetic oil. It really isn't necasary unless you are driving something very powerful, like an SRT-10 or a Porsche. Use it if you choose to, I'll stick with 5w for my Chrysler.

But thanks for the deal!

They sell synthetic/dino "blends".

You can always buy synthetic blends for somewhere in between the cost of regular and full synthetic.

If you are talking about just draining and filling with synthetic, that is fine.

I always use the same type of oil when doing a refill, and if I need to top off add the same type I used.

Where does the word 'dino' originate from ?

It comes from "dinosaur" oils. Dino oils are natural oils from the earth that have been refined, while syntethic oils are man-made.

Not many places carry the Mobil 1 0W-40 that I use. I don't think KMart had it the last time I checked.

I live in northeast ohio and it gets very cold in the winter.
Honda recommends oil change every 3750 miles in those extreme weather conditions for V6 engines.

Guess I am stuck in Dino world.

you can change the oil every 5000 miles, just check the oil levels occasionally

good deal op ty

Mobil 1 oil is very well suited for extended range oil changes. You can easily move to 6 months intervals in Honda V6's with Mobil 1. I have an acura 3.2TL have been doing this for years. Also know many people on the acura-tl board, where some people go 10k+ miles between oil changes on Mobil 1 , even in harsh climates. Of course this is with a quality oil filter.

That's based on the notion that you'd be using dino oil though. You should be able to roughly double that amount for synthetic oil. I all but guarantee that it wouldn't hurt your car in the least, nor cause it to wear any faster, etc.
That said, if you're under warranty and have a claim, they might argue with you having strayed from the maintenance schedule. If you actually do stick to the 3,750 every mile oil change, stay with the dino oil. I'd call it overkill but it certainly can't hurt...and I find that doing an oil change is a good opportunity to notice other things that might be wrong or about to go wrong.

Does it make sense to use synthetic oil on Civic and Accord? Especially when the car is already about 100k?
Thanks ahead for the advice...
