Update 5/23/05:

The RAA2400 is now $199.99 before coupons. What a killer deal!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Update: There are three different amps on sale:

RAA4200 (4 x 100 W RMS @ 4 Ohms, 2 x 400 @ 4 Ohms) for $230 (as described below)
RAA2400 (2 x 200 W RMS @ 4 Ohms, 1 x 800 @ 4 Ohms) for $230 (same procedure as below, but search for "RAA2400")
RAA1000 (1 x 250 W RMS @ 4 Ohms, 1 x 1000 @ 1 Ohm) for $280 (same procedure as below, but search for "RAA1000")

You can use the $20 off coupon below, or, if you want to help out a fellow FW'er, you can PM me for a new member coupon worth $20 as well (sorry, you cannot combine both coupons). You have to be a new member, though, otherwise it will not work.

Thanks

This is a hot price for an excellent amp. Price on Fleabay is $375 shipped and up. Follow this procedure to get it for $230 shipped:

Step 1: Click here (Mastercard link) and on the Mastercard page, click on the Crutchfield link. (You don't have to use a Mastercard for checkout).

Step 2: search for "RAA4200" and add to cart.

Step 3: In the cart, add coupon code "PA145" in the upper right hand coupon box and click "apply".

Crutchfield is an authorized dealer so you will have a full warranty as well. If I needed an amp, I would definitely jump on this. Good luck.

this is hot...eBay price is $348....anyone have any experiece with this amp....i might have to pick this up

so is this better than a jl 300/4. I have a jl 300/4 sitting in my room for like 5 months now and hasnt been used over 2 years. Will it still work perfectly? Might have to buy this amp seems lke a hot deal.

I could not find any reviews on this amp. I'm guessing there aren't that many out there since they are relatively new and were expensive...until now. However, I know that Quart makes some of the best audio equipment out there. At least at the same level as Alpine & JL Audio, if not better. I cannot imagine this is anything but an excellent amp. Anywho, you get to try this for 30 days and if you don't like it, send it back with no cost to you, so why don't you try it out?

i bought 1, now i ll have a jl audio 300/4 and this MB amp, I have their speakers but the low end series. Didn't get a new car yet, so never installed the jl amp. how much do you think i can sell the jl 300/4 for?

man, I would jump all over this except for the fact I have a polk momo 4-channel amp sitting in my closet waiting to be installed in my car. I wonder if this amp is better than the one I currently have.

Thanks

Very similar, but this review is for the 2400, not the 4200 just so everyone knows.

I am sure this review speaks to the quality of the 4200 as well though.

Thanks sushi1111!

the jl amp you have usually goes for over 300

bought one. well see how it goes

excellent deal op! quick q...i am planning on buying those infinity reference 1230W speakers. i'm a total car audio noooob (the term noob is an understatement). those speakers require 300watts each or something like that. how does the four channel thing figure into the setup?

hookinitup,

It all depends on how you wire it up. If you're using the amp exclusively for a pair of infinity's, you'll want to bridge the 4 channels into 2. That way you'll get 400watts RMS into each.

Infinitys require some serious power to push it. Get a good amp like some JL or you're going to hear the amp clipping.

hookinitup,

If you bridge the channels, it'll put out 400w x 2 @ 4ohms. So each sub will get 400 watts (100 extra since those Infinity's only need 300w RMS). However, that should work great if you properly set the gain on the amp.

don't forget $7 Cash Back

Lots of MB Quart stuff on clearance, including some other amps and some very nice looking deals on subs.

Use the site map.

Good deal...I only wish I needed it. My PPI amp is still running strong...although only 30W x 4.

picked one up. thanks OP

A friend of mine told me these were going to be marked down even more soon. And since they are on clearance, I would think he is right and that a newer model is on the horizon.

it funny in terms and conditions it says "offer expires Dec. 31 2003" Hope this won't be a problem

is the coupon combinable with the $20 Crutchfield referral program?

From what I heard from some forums, this MB Quart amp is actually manufactured by Rockford Fosgate. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

i'm getting a standard shipping for $10.99. can't seem to get around it...

Rockford owns MB Quart so I would imagine it is similiar to Rockford.

Can anyone compare this to this Infinity 111RMS x 4 for running 2 sets of full range components.

This is the newer Infinity at Cruthfield with more specs listed...its pretty much the same as the 7540A.

If its better, I'd want to get 2...1 for the full range and 1 for my dual coil sub. Would there be any problems using the coupon 2x(2 separate orders)?

TIA

I used to be a car audiophile in my earlier years, and MB Quarts USED to make the top mids and highs available on the market. Couple years ago, they got bought out by Rockford Fosgate, so im not so sure how the quality factor on their products has been changed.

Both Infinity and MB Quart make good stuff so I would say it's probably a toss-up.

I would not recommend this unless your electrical system has been upgraded with an HO alternator. The fuse rating on one of these I believe is 90 amps so two could potentially draw 180 amps, which is probably twice your stock alt's output capability. Needless to say, you would have some serious issues. If I can make a recommendation, I would go with a set-up like mine. I decided a long time ago that I wanted to use most of the available (spare) amperage in my car for the sub amp (I have a sedan so it takes a bit more power in the back than in a hatchback or SUV, because the rear seats block a lot of the sound), and that I would only run the front speakers with a dedicated 2-channel amp. Think about it, you sit in the front and the music comes from the front, so why even have speakers in the rear? If you're at a concert, which way do you face? Towards the band or away from it? "Rear-fill" is a myth as far as I am concerned, and you don't need it to have fantastic sound. (Actually, I could argue with you that the music won't sound as good and you would have poor imaging with rear speakers running). If you have a sedan, another advantage to not using the rear speakers is that you can take the speakers out and you have now created "vents" to help more sound get into the cabin. This actually made a huge difference in my case (I have a Honda Accord). If you buy a good set of separates for the front and you feed them adequate power, you will never miss those rear speakers again!

Crutchfield gave me a call today left a message asking where I got the offer code from? Should I call them back?

Same for me too. They said the code is only good for Mastercard employees and cancelled my order.

Should I call and complain? I had my order canceled so coupons is dead unless you are a mater card employee.

are there any subs that are a good price to go along with this?

GIRTHBOY said: A friend of mine told me these were going to be marked down even more soon. And since they are on clearance, I would think he is right and that a newer model is on the horizon.

Marked down more than they are now or they would get marked down as they are now?

Great Deal, OP! Time to find some kickin 6x9s

My order shows shipped with a tracking number, So I don't know if they just started canceling orders after mine shipped.

Component speakers are the only way to 'do justice' to this amp.

anyone with sub recommendations?

mine shipped! WOOHOOO!

I disagree with the absolutely no useful info part! I am sure there must be one or maybe even two useful tidbits in that huge example of why I needed to pay more attention in english classes.
