web cams seem expensive for chat cam. I know it was last week, but Staples had em for $10.00 ar, but u would think it would be closer in price. thats big gap there. i got 2 of them and they are really crappy, so beware.
i'll probably go after the deal at BB on sunday morning...
I have this question -- does anyone think it's possible to grab the free phones on 6/1 since it'll be the beginning of a new quarter for the Office Depot advantage...or will the be out of stock by then?

Thanks OP. I got 3 at OD and 3 at BB. I will return them tommorrow and get the rebates. PS Cincinnati Springdale has some left at BB but the OD I got the last three there.
i got the PM5800 phone when there was some price mistake end of last year, and i used it for awhile. not bad for a free phone, but it kept interfering with my wireless-b signal and knocking me offline. analog 5.8 means it's actually 2.4 so be prepared for it to cause interference with wireless routers. there was often an echo in the sound too. i'd say the vtech is more reliable - i'm using a vtech 900 mhz now (so it doesn't interfere with wireless) and the sound quality is much better. just my 2 cents.

What are you talking about? All cordless phones are analog - the bandwidth varies from phone to phone but regardless of the phone, digital data must be converted to an analog signal that is transmitted through different bandwidths, 2.4 GHZ being one, 5.8 Ghz being another. 5.8 GHz is not equivalent to 2.4 GHz, nor does it prove that its range is any better - Power ratings, transmission line of sight, reflections all must be taken into consideration - tech specs usally quote 'open field' transmission ranges, anything conducting will reflect your signal - ex. a subway train or elevator... maybe that's why your cell phone reception is bad in there. A low power crappy 5.8 GHz phone can perform just as shoddily as a 900 MHz high power phone... don't buy the phone just based on the GHz ratings. These are not clock cycles on computers but good old eletromagnetics. My two cents.

I don't know about the details but I heard some 5.8GHz phones are not true 5.8GHz phones.

You can read what I just posted above... I'd rely more on the user heresay than having to delve deep into tech specs. Specs are never a surefire way to measure performance although I would keep your comparisons between current generations (5.8 vs 2.4) not 5.8 vs 900 Mhz. FYI, your cell phones operate on 2.4 GHz bandwidths and they can communicate to a satellite in space. Nuff said.

annicus said: analog 5.8 means it's actually 2.4 I don't know where you get this information. The PM5800 manual doesn't list the specs, but I just randomly picked some other analog 5.8GHz cordless phone, Uniden CXAI5198, and the specs in the manual (pdf) says the following. Frequency: 925.181424 - 927.451379 MHz, 5739.320225 - 5746.130091 MHz
Edit: YMMV -- The Uniden above uses 900MHz/5.8GHz, but I know some AT&T phones use 2.4GHz/5.8GHz. Anyway, one shall not equate analog 5.8GHz to (analog) 2.4GHz.
Edit2: This is from the specs of AT&T 5840 5.8GHz digital cordless phone: RF Frequency Band: 2400 MHz – 2483.5 MHz (Handset to base) RF Frequency Band: 5725 MHz – 5850 MHz (Base to handset)

Quoting an FAQ from uniden.com: Question: What is the difference between Analog and Digital? Answer: A digital cordless phone converts your conversation into 1's and 0's when transmitting back to the base unit. This provides better security, but analog transmissions may have better sound quality since they do not go through a conversion process.

I'm sure it depends on the store. I believe the OD in DeSoto opens at noon on Sunday, but I am sure others open at other times.

save ur stamps on the PM5800. i got it a cple mths. ago on a FAR deal at BB and hat a junk it was. If u set the volume to High , be prepare for torture. It often make ear-deafening high pitch sound while u use it and the only solution is set it to LOW.

Geez, this phonemate PM5800 is one of the few phones since the old ATT rotary dial models to not even have a display. No caller ID. Not true 5.8GHz.
OTOH, keep an eye out for Uniden TRU-8800 series phones at BB. They are closing them out and getting ready for Uniden's new series (which by the way is b/w compatible with the 8800's) Add the 10% off coupon and get some great deals. Yesterday (Sat. night), I convinced them to sell the floor model TRU-8888, on closeout table by main entrance, for $50. I'm a happy camper.

Can anyone tell me (PM me) the Phonemate 5800 $30 MIR Best Buy Offer Code (5-Digit) I'm trying to track my rebate and I can't get the status without the offer code even though I have my order number.
