coupon code "xpbargains" does not work------ "Sorry but the specified coupon was not found. Please click on your browser's back button and remove the coupon id or enter a different one."

Bestbuy has Fuji 100 Pack DVD+r, DVD-r for $39. The Fuji DVD+R are genuen TY discs. So, I recoment the Fuji TY which are some of the best discs out there. 100 pack on sale for $39.

The Fuji are 8X

Holy smokes, my bad . Coupon code is xpbargains10. Original post has been edited, deal is definitely still good.

ghazni12 said: The Fuji are 8X

what is the manufacture code? TY01? or TY04? I think thats more appealing than just saying fuji cause fuji carries ty, cmc, etc... need to know the code

The ones at Shop4tech read as TY01 in dvdinfo pro. Original post has been edited, original deal is still good if anyone cares.

Sorry about the tax part, I didn't know that. I live in NY and don't get charged tax by S4T.

$28.80 for 100 A/C, but no free markers

Larryslug said: $28.80 for 100 A/C, but no free markers

Ya gotta get the free markers plus save a whopping $.01 per DVD if you get 200 instead of 100

Larryslug said: $28.80 for 100 A/C, but no free markers

In order to get the free markers, you need to purchase at least $50 worth of DVDs.

Thanks, great deal, 55 bucks for 200 - you cant pass that up

I'm in for 100. I'd get 200, but have no space on my desk!

Just remember to keep your old spindles guys. These do not come on spindles but instead come shrink wrapped. I don't quite understand some people complaining about a sticky substance on the shrink wrap. When I got mine the top of the stack of DVDs and the bottom of the stack had that clear plastic disc that is always at the top of the spindles and they were the only things that even had a hint of stickyness but I just toss those anyway. Once you take the plastic off of the top and bottom discs all the DVDs in the middle are simply shrinkwrapped, no glue or adhesive at all. Then the entire stack of DVDs is bubble wrapped in the box. Mine came in perfect condition.

Has anyone done any tests on these, other than looking at the media code (mine showed up as a TYG02)? I did a test burn and analysis on one of these, and it sure doesn't test like a TY disk. Doesn't look good on a CRC test, and looks terrible on a PI/PO test. Any other data points?

Roy

Just receieved mine. Says TYG02 media code.

00000000 00 6C 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 87 0D 10 .l...@....R.....

00000020 00 00 00 00 05 AA A2 22 22 20 02 00 06 08 0E 11 ......."" ......

I searched dvdrhelp.com, and the TYG02 media code says that this is 8x ?
I'm 99% sure that these are genuine Taiyo Yuden 8x's.
Mine has the serial # GG000110 and GG000103

Can any one confirm if these are Genuine Taiyo 8x's?

Burned 8x on my Plextor 716A. Nero Version: 6.6.0.8
Started: 5:57:32 PM / Finshed: 6:10:45 PM
Total time: 13min and 13sec
I burned a few more and it completed @ 8x around 12mins.

Fake TYG02 have a signature huge PIE spike near the end..

genuine TY usually have obscenely low PIE/PIF numbers all the way

Hmmm...I wonder why some people are getting TYG02's? This is what I got from dvdinfo pro:

Complete Media Code
00000000 00 6A 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 86 0D 13 .j...@....R.....

00000020 00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 06 08 0F 11 ................

Code on the inner ring of my DVDs is: GD000138

Can other people who got in on this deal post their media codes? I've already gone through 50 of the 100 I ordered and I'm looking to get some more but I want to know if people are still getting TYG01's.

How do you figure out the media code?

Stevesatch said: How do you figure out the media code?

I like to know too.

DVD Identifier is used to identify the media code.

DVD decrypter also give the media code.

BTW, got my 100-pack. I got TYG02

Is that bad?

These are bargain TY media -- second rate -- it definitely doesn't burn as well as the top of the shelf TY media (the 8x Fuji's from best buy are top of the shelf, but I would make sure you buy the ones made in Japan -- DVD+R, I believe). I bought a spindle of 4x TY's, silver surface, from supermediastor and they are not worth the hassle. If you are serious about your data backup, I would go for the name brand TY's (whichever brand) or buy high quality brand names (Verbatim, Fuji). My 2c

I use DVDInfo Pro to check the media codes. I got my shipment a couple of months back so maybe that's why I got TYG01's. They burn exceptionally well, dye looks really good. I am hesitant on re-ordering seeing that people are getting TYG02's now, maybe they ran out of TYG01's. I will do some web research to see if there are big differences in quality between the two before I decide on reordering or not. After all is said and done though, I'll probably just reorder since I've been very happy with my first shipment.

I downloaded the program to check the codes and the ones I got are TYG02. I have no idea what the differences are. It's weird that some people say these are great and others don't. I haven't used any other brands. I've gone through about 300 of these and have had zero problems.

Ok, seems as if we were all(or at least I was)a little confused. TYG01 and TYG02 media codes have absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the media. They are Taiyo Yuden's media codes for 4x(TYG01) and 8x(TYG02)media. Like I said earlier, my media codes came up as genuine TYG01 and they did have the serial number printed on the innner hub so I am inclined to believe they are legit. I will order another shipment of the 4x media and hope I get TYG02's as it seems you are getting 8x media at 4x media prices.

Thats correct. Seems like some are confused. Like junitodx said there is nothing to do with quality of the media just because the media code is different. It just means your luckier than most. 4x(TYG01) and 8x(TYG02).
I'm lucky enough to have bought 500pack of 8x TYG02 for the price of just the 4x. They all have the serial # GG000110 or GG000103. So I believe that these are genunie made in Japan Taiyo Yudens.

Oh and because I ordered 500 pieces they sent it in the original box. The box could contain 6 spindles of this stuff. (Obviously they took out 1 spindle to give me 500). The outter box said made in Japan and packaged in China. There was a sticker that had a manufacture # DVDR47VAL600SK. I assume manufacture number which I googled and led to the same product which was suppose to be TYG01 4x. I then assume that the manufacture put the wrong media into the box or the box was mislabeled. All the more I'm glad they did cause I got a nice 4x to 8x upgrade for no extra charge.
Cost me $147 shipped for 500pk = 0.294 cents each for genuine 8x TYG02 =)
Note: Shop4tech sells 8x Taiyo Yuden's for a little over .49each + shipping.
Which makes this an extremely HOT DEAL if you do receive TYG02's.

And I burned like 10 so far. Not one failure and all burned 8x perfectly around 8-13mins depending on the data size I recorded. Burned 8x on my Plextor 716A fw1.07 Danger. Bro. Nero Version: 6.6.0.8
I think I'll give some experiment trials at 12x and 16x just for fun and to test how stable it actually is.
Will let you guys know my results.

For those of you interested in the 8x:

SubTotal: $49.00
- $4.90 coupon (use either xpbargains10 or Fatwallet10 )
Sales Tax (CA Only): $3.92
Shipping (Free::USPS): $0

Total: $48.02

FW CashBack: 3.0%
$49.00 (subtotal) - $4.90 (coupon code) - $1.32 (FW CashBack) = $42.78 (before CA tax)

Nice deal if you want to guarantee yourself the 8x but personally I would(and did)take a shot at ordering the 4x and hope you get lucky since some people have lucked out already. If not you can always burn your 4x at 8x anyway if your drive supports it with hacked firmware. I should get my order on Tuesday or Wednesday and will post media codes.

Thanks OP. Nice deal especially cuz I got the 8x media.

I'm a little concerned about writing on the laquer finish so I have been writing on the clear inner ring, but it's very awkward. Any opinions about writing on these disks and what kind of pens to use?

Yeah writing on them is the only real pain in the rear. That and the laquer finish seems to be a magnet for dust so I'm constantly cleaning the tops, the dye side barely attracts any dust which is good. I just write on the laquer side with my trusty Sharpie with no problems, other than I write about as crooked as I used to write on the blackboard when I was 9 . I suppose you could go to St@ples or some office supply place like that and buy small rectangular white labels and put them on the DVD since they are basically the same as the DVD labels you would buy but are way cheaper. Personally I'll just stick with my crooked handwriting. Glad to hear you got the 8x media as I'm hoping for the same.

Well I didn't luck out like you did makabe. My media came in as TYG01 but I can't really complain about getting what I paid for plus ,my NEC-2500a can only burn at a max of 8x with hacked firmware and this 4x media burns at 8x for me anyway. I have to believe this is 100% legit Taiyo Yuden media as my Nero Scandisk came up just about perfect, 100% good with one small red spot right at the end. I'm happy
Link to my ScanDisc pic

My media came in as TYG01 also for 100 pack

I luck out and ordered the 500 disks. All TYG02

fusion65 said:

Cool, looks like it's the luck of the draw. I'm wondering if maybe the 100 orders are getting TYG01s and 200 and up are getting TYG02s. Anyway like I said earlier if you checked out my ScanDisk pic you'll see it's top quality media either way.

how are the top of these discs?

in the image they are shiny silver... and i have little experience with dvd-rs, but I would never buy cd-rs with that shiny silver top because it scratches off easily and goes to waste. Was wondering if the same rule of thumb applied to dvd media (specifically these dvd-rs)

There is spots of dye on the clear inner hub of my disc. Some discs looks like the dye spilled into the inner hub and others looks like drops of dyed dripped on it. Is that normal?

The tops of these discs are shiny silver top but I don't believe they have the same problems as cdrs with shiny tops. I have had the same experience with cdrs with the top layer peeling away. I have burned a few hundred of these discs and haven't had a single one have the top layer peel away. I think maybe on theses the silver is just the natural color of the finish while on the cdrs it was added to give you a writing surface.
As far as your question missdinh, I don't remember off the top of my head but I don't believe I've seen any of my discs have any dye in the center hub but I will check out a few random discs when I get home and let you know.

Skipping 25 Messages...

btw for you people worried about writing on their discs....

dvds have their data layer sandwiched between two layers of plastic, not on the top of one layer like cds

therefore you can write on it without worrying about peeling/etc

nice diagram here
