HI All

I thought Dells deal was good. (there offering 45 dollars back on sign up) Best Buy even has a better deal! Sign up for SBC/Yahoo DSL service for 14.95 per month and receive a 75 dollar gift certificate from BEST BUY. This brings the cost of DSL service down to 8.70 per month. This is a STEAL!!!!!

Green for a good heads up -- the more competition, the longer lasting price battle would be.

Thanks OP. But I don't know what I'm gonna do with the BB GC, it is REALLY hard for me to use it, except maybe last night.

This deal is beyond scorching hot. Don't forget the 3 months free Dish service from SBC if you switch off cable. Here is the link to that thread.
Linkey

WorstBuy GC shouldn't be counted as cash, but this deal is still hot.

GAHH!!! how is this. i cant get DSL service here in orange county! for god's sake i live in an urban area.

edit! woohoo! received an email from SBC that DSL is finally available in my area! here i go to BB

btw do you have to go to Best buy or can you order it online

*edit after looking at BB's website, it s a store only thing

SBC DSL requires a phone line. I havent activated the one in my home. Do I need to activate it to get DSL? How much will that cost?
Oh, and how does DSL compare with Cable? speed wise?

How can this be a good deal because the rebate is $75 BB gift card. It ain't cash so how can you apply that to your monthly services. Dell seems to be more intriging

repost

This is a good deal. Sure, BB isn't the best place to shop, but it's still a free $75 worth of store credit.

sell the GC on eBay and you'll probably get around $60 or so..maybe even a bit more.

plus its 25$ more. you can just as easily sell the GC. and besides, BB always has some kind of crazy deal like the cruzer a while ago

Or you can wait for the FAR items to cash it out...

Don't forget, if you add a new phone line w/ SBC you get $35 CREDIT!

Linky Loo - Third paragraph... "For a limited time - order a new telephone line and get a $35 credit per line if ordered online."

how long does the gc promation last?

is there a URL for the gift card?

In order to receive the GC u must purchase in store.

Where in Orange County can you get DSL? I'm in Huntington Beach, and my buddies in Fountain Valley can't get it still. Where is it actually available?

I second to this question, as I just searched their T&C does not mention about it below. Though, it does mention that the new $14.95/month rate can be locked in before 9/30/2005.

Provider Promotions: Order SBC Yahoo! DSL for a one-year term at $14.95 per month and receive an instant credit on the cost of the DSL modem (a $99 value). Plus get free activation (a $50 value) and a free self-installation kit (taxes and a $12.95 shipping and handling fee apply). Offer available only to new subscribers. The $99 modem charge will appear on the first bill along with the $99 instant credit. Modem is a new or fully inspected, tested, and warranted return unit. The regular monthly price for the service will appear on the first bill along with any corresponding and offsetting credits. Offer is available for a limited period of time and is subject to change without notice. Additional charge of $150-$200 applies if a technician installation is required or desired. Early termination fee of $200 applies if service is cancelled before expiration of term.
Offer Expires: Sep 30, 2005

If I activate a new phone line (already installed) will I get credit ? Just moced into a new apt.

Sux for ppl still in freakin' Verizon territory.

I'm forced to be on TimeWarner cable for $42/month. Still, getting 5Mbps down and 500kbps up is pretty good.

i live in cypress. but check SBC's website. they actually updated it. i can get dsl for 14.95 now

HI All

I just picked up my modem from Best Buy today. This is a much better deal than Dell. Since you sign up in store there is no 13.00 delivery fee.

Does that mean that you walk in and order and walk out with the hardware?

Approx. how long does it take to get "hooked up" (i.e. for the service to begin working)?

Can you sign up for the $14.95 direct from BB or do you have to call SBC and do the re-rate shtick?

About 48 hours according to the Bestbuy clerk I talked too. He also said the $12.95 delivery charge still gets charged, even if I get it at the store.

But it's still worth getting at the store for $75 gc.

It seemed from zacksmith that he did not pay the delivery charge.
Thank you for the response.

However, it also says activation fee is around $33, so basically you get only $2 back. if you call SBC, they can easily waive your activation fee (of course, no $35 rebate).

Not worth the hassle.

I am most likely gonna hop on this deal. Can't really beat it.

Can existing SBC subscriber take adventage of this offer? If yes, how does this work? Shall I cancel my existing SBC broadband first before I go to Best Buy to sign this up?

I live in an apartment and I have the jacks but no service right now. What do I need to do first? Order the phone line then go to best buy? Is there a really cheap phone line? Thanks.

BTW to turn that $75 gift card into cash go to best buy and buy the linksys wireless B router and/or usb adapter. They are $50 and $60 with the same in rebates I think. I dunno. It will take a few weeks but thats what I did with some of my gift cards. The thread is here or on slickdeals.

anyone knows if the $75 GC is good if I order the PRO--3mbp instead of 1.5mbp for $24.95?

I am moving to Valencia, CA soon and I am still trying to weigh in rather to go comcast for tv/internet vonage for phone or SBC for phone/internet directv for TV.

How long is this deal good for?

Dudes, this is great... I went to bestbuy store and ordered the "SBC/yahoo DSL - Express Package - Modem Take-Out Kit". I got forms for 5 MIR...

1. $20 Image Lab card (don't know what it is for) offer # 58390 5/29/05 to 7/16/05 Postmark 9/16/05
2. $75 BB GC offer # 59201 7/3/05 to 7/30/05 Postmark 9/30/05
3. $15 Seimens MIR offer # 59445 7/3/05 to 7/30/05 Postmark 9/30/05
4. $75 SBC Yahoo MIR offer # 59446 7/3/05 to 7/30/05 Postmark 9/30/05
5. $75 Seimens modem MIR offer # 59446 7/3/05 to 7/30/05 Postmark 9/30/05

All the BB stores are out of modems in bay area, CA. But some stores have them at about 20 miles away. I also went 15 miles and took the last Seimens SS5100 modem for $89.99 from them. Thanks OP for the post...

edited quick summary for the info of 5 MIR...

any comments about the 5 MIRs??? I don't know what the first one about. 4th & 5th have same offer # and same Address, but have different SKU # and different rebate description. Do you think I can get both 4th & 5th rebate. Since it automatically printed out at BB register, I think I should get all of them. But I need experts advise so that I don't keep false expectations and other people can get benefitted... Thanks!!!

Sweet Deal!

Quick but possibly stupid question...

Before Gift card and MIR's....what's the walk out price for this deal? My closest Best Buy is over 30 minutes away....so I want to know how much I have to fork out.

Thanks.

(P.S. When I want to get rid of gift cards without putting them on eBay...I have a guy who buys $50 for $40 bucks....probably buys $75 GCs for about 60 or 65. Saves me from having to put them on eBay)

coolgear4free said: Before Gift card and MIR's....what's the walk out price for this deal? You will get $90($75 + $15) in MIR...

Skipping 152 Messages...

Received all my rebates yesterday ($20 ImageLab GC + $75 BB GC + $75). Thanks OP!
