I picked up an Iomega 750MB external zip drive instore at Staples for $79.50 less $50 Easy rebate and $15 off $75 coupon. $14.50 AR/AC for me. YMMV This is the link to the online item Iomega 750MB Zipdrive

Don't see why not. The Easy Rebate doesn't require you to send anything in. If the instore price is accurate, this is a heck of a deal - use a $15 off $75 and send for the two rebates and make around $30. Who cares if nobody uses zip disks - you can throw the drive away and still make a profit.
Buying now Zip drive is only good if you already have one or archive of Zip discs and need spare. Otherwise, as said before, it is dead: you cannot take the disc to most other people in the world, and for yourself, used other methods. Also, I would not trust this removeable media for reliable long term backup. Also cost of media is very high. It is like orphan technology today.
I like this statement from the page "Hurry, offer expires 12/31/2005!"

Actualy, I do not like this, either. but all the computers have Zip drive in our Department, they all use this for transfer files. I have to use it.

Thanks OP. Got two with two $15 coupons. Not bad to get paid $35 each, not that I have to use them.

The mailing address is the same for the two rebates, so this may not fly. I don't think this is worth it, if you don't want a external zip drive in the first place.

Actually, if you manually search for 492901 in EZRebates, you'll see that there are 2 EZ rebates, one sent to Miami, FL, the other to El Paso, TX. The El Paso, TX one is the same as the actual form being linked to on the page of the item. So there is a total of $100 MIR ($50 plus $50). If you can this is store for the OP price, it's a great deal.

I know its retarded but all computers in my department, library and school have zip drives too. I bought one of these two years ago for 60 bucks with the same rebate. If your not going to use the 750MB discs, I strongly advise you get the 250MB drive. The 750MB drive will only read 100MB disks.

Zip was very cool once. I used to consider 100 bucks is a steal for 250 zip several years ago. Too bad Iomega decided/can't pull the price down to 10 to 20 bucks per unit. I still use lowly floppy, not zip any more.

If you can get money back then it is a good deal. Otherwise I will pass.
I got last one in clearance section. I called and was told they can't place hold on clearance items. So I rushed out of my house in middle of lunch. -
Using $15 of $75 coupon from email (just received yesterday - ) and $5 off $5 purchase (Manager is nice enough to override for me to put this in since the computer seeed to have problem accepting two Staples coupons).
So after tax I paid $63.
So made $37 if both rebates come.
Worst case only $50 rebate and I can at least sell this drive for $13 to make it even. So no risk here. -
Rebate Reward: Variable Reward Rebate Information For: xxxx xxxx Promotion: $20 Rebate on an Iomega Zip 100MB USB Drive or a $30 Rebate on a Zip 250MB USB Drive or a $50 Rebate on a Zip 750MB USB Drive or 750MB FireWire at Staples (105-0101-01) Submission Type: ON-LINE Status Date: 07-16-2005 Status Detail: PENDING RETURN INTERVAL COMPLETE
I will submit the other mail-in rebate after I got this one first.
Actually maybe I should use my brother's address for the second rebate so they can not deny it saying I already got one $50 rebate??
Also not sure everyone has noticed. The limit for both rebates is TWO per household. Too bad I can only find one in my local stores.
