Can you please explain this? May 31st, 2006?

Sorry if this is verboten in these kinds of threads, but what good are $19.99/mo. and a c-note if the service is unreliable and the customer service representatives are poorly trained?

Service unreliable?? Huh? What are you talking about, other than the big DNS problem they had for maybe 5-6 hrs on one night this past year I've had it their uptime has been sterling...
As for the CSR's, tend to agree with you but like most things these days you can find out info you need via support/forum boards...

13 months- 24 technicans- 13 modem changes- still ping way too high
I dont want to count the number of calls to them...
Those are the problems that I have in the north part of Chicago...

But the offer is pretty warm.

Anyone know if current customers can share in the deals with Comcast?

i have comcast, its real nice, only problem is u have 1 gb of newsgroup access a month...other than that its really fast.

Current customer promotions are ALWAYS YMMV and depends on the CSR you talk to when you call them. As long as you haven't had a promotional rate in the past 90 days, you qualify for a new promotion. Don't believe what the CSR says if they deny you, just hang up and call again.

I will be canceling Comcast and go with Verizon. It's always NEW CUSTOMER and I am sick of it. Swapping between Verizon and Comcast once every other month must be very popular these days.

I'm in NW Chicago and don't have any problems with them. When I signed up at my old apartment, the HSI wouldn't work so they sent out a tech to rewire the whole apartment building's box outside and it worked afterwards. Moved like a month later and they reinstalled everything for free

Cable's speed does get reduced if a lot of people are using it in your neighborhood. You live in a huge apartment building or something? Not sure what you're paying, but go for DSL instead (SBC 3Mbps for $25/month)

The best way to get re-rated to the new promo is to call the 800 number and pick the "cancel your service" option

comcast suck

Crice could you give me some more information on this since it isn't explicitely mentioned in their terms. I've been a Comcast cable and internet customer for 14 months now, and had the promotional offers for the first 6 months. So do I technically qualify for this promo scheme? As you said, its YMMV depending on the CSR, but if I know for sure that I'm treading on firm ground I can try this a couple of times till I'm approved

thanks,

Ya, I've been a customer for 5 years now and have never gotten a new modem, price adjustment, free month, etc... Unfortunately, DSL isn't in my area yet.

On the positive side, I've always had the fastest connection a normal home user can purchase cost-efficiently.

13 modems... you need some help with the power lines in your house.... That is beyond rare, and more along the lines of ignorance.

Wow $100, guess I should have waited instead of falling for
the $90 deal.

While I cannot show you concrete proof of Comcast's promotional policy, I can tell you that I spoke to a CSR regarding to this issue before. For my case, my parents' residence has been with comcast for 3 or 4 years now, and I've helped them get many promotional periods over the years. What I can gather from the comcast CSRs is that you must wait 90 days after your first promo rate before you can get another promotional rate. CSRs can see when you have had a promotional rate and they can deny you if you fall within the 90 days.

However, some CSRs just can't do anything. I once called maybe 3 times to the retention department (the option to "disconnect/downgrade" service), and they shot me down 3 times. On the fourth try, I called the billing department and they gave me $19.99 HSI and $24.99 expanded basic for 6 months. Others have had the reverse come true. The billing department shot them down many times, but retention helped right away.

Basically, if you follow the 90 day rule of thumb, you CAN get a promotion. Just don't get too discouraged when the CSRs deny you of it. Keep trying

Also note that if the CSR at the retention department tries to waste your time by explaining how good Comcast is compared to other ISPs, just say "i know" and hangup. One time a CSR went on for 15 minutes explaining how good it is to be contract-free with comcast, whereas DSL required a contract. Biggest waste of 15 minutes ever. You have better things to do with your time, such as getting a good promotion

Thanks for the advice crice. I'll give it a shot over the next few days. I'll post my experience on this thread for those who need info.

The rebate is reliable. Check www.expressgroup.com for your status and also for the customer service #. The expressgroup rebate may take a while.

Do I need choose the professional installation? How much will it cost? How about self-installation? Is it very difficult? Thanks a lot for your help!!

where are all the rebate forms?

There may be a way to make this deal even sweeter. I saw a comcast brochure claiming that they would give a $15/month discount for 6 months dropping the rate to 4.99/mo, if you give them your DSL modem. I live in South FL, not sure if this is nationwide. I haven't tried it yet, but a friend of mine just ordered a DSL modem from eBay and is planning on giving it to comcast. Currently he's on a 19.99 /mo for 6 months deal.

Got $29.99 for 12 months

Well, I'm a current customer, and I just called them and told them that I might have to disconnect my service. They changed me back to 19.99 Internet for 6 months, but now I'm a little confused as to whether I am eligible for the 75 Cash Back rebate??? It says its only for new customers, but I did get changed to a new plan.

Additionally, could someone point me towards the rebate form??? I couldn't really see it on the offers link.

The rebate on this deal changes like the weather. Now it's $75.

ktg said: The rebate on this deal changes like the weather. Now it's $75.

Exactly, and I don't see the FAR modemn option at the link.

I wish that were the case. Unfortunately, with 10+ years in the IT field, and Comcast's less than stellar reputation around here...

I ordered my High speed internet from Comcastoffers.com on 7/26 and the modem from broadbandoffers.com. I got my modem in 3 days after they charged my credit card. But,I havne't received anything from comcastoffers.com yet although they said it took about 8-10 business day to send me the staff. I tried to call them and never able to get anybody. I called comcast. They said I didn't ordered the High speed internet, and they didn't have the $100 Cash Back deal and free modem. Comcastoffers.com is just a retailer of them. Is this deal reliable?
