Remember Rebel XT has a 1.6 zoom multipler ( crop factor),
With those lenses, you don't have a wide angle lens.

I understand that. Wide angle lens are expensive. I'm saving until I can afford a good wide angle L lens.

I can recommend the 28-105 f/3.5-4.5. This a high quality lens. It is the highest rated consumer level zoom on Fred Miranda. It may be the second best lens for the money (the 50mm 1.8 being the best for the money). This lens blows the kit lens away. You can still use the kit lens when you need to go wider, it can deliver decent results when stopped down.

For wide angle use with a Rebel or 20D I recommend the 10-22mm.. This is a near L quality lens. Well built and sharp.

I'm hoping for a Dell deal on the upcoming 24-105 f/4 L IS once it's released.

I managed to get an order in at 4:00 or so, after the 20% off, $60 coupon, and 2% off it came to 685. I decided to spring for next day shipping as it was only $20. I checked my order status this morning and it shipped, but they shipped it ground!! it wont show up until next wednesday!. I called Dell and all they said they can do is refund the shipping once i get the product. jerks

They will only discount black when they get in a good supply and then it will be about $40 more because the list price is $50 higher.

Does anyone have suggestions for the lense? Thanks a lot.

Canon 50mm 1.8f prime lens. $70, VERY sharp. The MKII is $70 and has a plastic body, and some have had quality issues. The older, 50mm MKI, is all metal but are hard to find <$130. Optically both are the same.

I agree...get the fixed focal length lens (or two or three). In most every case you will be getting a sharper lens, a faster lens, a more compact lens, for much less money.
