I was on the phone for probably 45 minutes. I talked to a customer service rep, then an account specialist, and then asked to speak to their supervisor. I got the RAZR phone for $99, and they're paying for the 3-day shipping, and printed off the $50 rebate form. I've been with T-Mo since 1992, so I kept saying I was tempted to leave and there were a lot of deals out there. The supervisor told me the lowest she could go was $134.95, I told her I wasn't willing to pay more than $99 so she said that's what she could sell it to me for. Dang, I wish I would have gone lower! lol

Thanks for the tips, y'all.

You mentioned that you got 1000 mins for 39.99. I have 600 mins for 39.99 and I am out of contract. I called customer service and they said that they could give it to me for 45.99 as that was the plan on the system. Could you give me some more infomation as to how could I haggle for 1000 mins for 39.99. Is there any promotion time ?
Thanks.

Infinite42 said:Ok, I have a new RAZR on its way, though my deal wasn't as hot as the OP's - can't complain, though. I was offered the RAZR at $137.49, and he wouldn't budge. When I asked to speak to an account specialist, he said that he was one himself, and that was why he was able to offer me the discount. After lamenting out loud for a minute or two about how I've been told that the Treo 650 would be stocked soon (I'm not too up on the latest phones - I'd actually never heard of it before!), I asked him to unlock my phone since I was traveling to Europe next week (if only law school could be suspended so that I could actually go to Europe!), and he gladly obliged. I asked him a final time if he would be able to do anything with the RAZR price, and he said that he would be able to provide a free sixth month of service (and because of FW, I was able to haggle them down to $39.99/mo. for 1000 mins. earlier this year), effectively lowering the cost of the phone another $45 for so to under $100. Coupled with the $50 online rebate that he did not tell me about even after I asked if there were any rebates available, and this brings me to under $50 for the RAZR. Plus, I currently have a Motorola V330 that will shortly be going up on eBay, so we'll see how much I'm able to fetch for that. All in all, GREAT post, OP - thanks a lot!

Hi,

Is it possible to get online, when my 1 yeah contract will end? At first I was on family plan with my friend, after that I transferred service under my name, so it’s interesting should I call them and try to get better phone now or I should wait.

Thanks.

You need to contact TMo's retention department. I did this last year and I told them a friend of mine got on this deal for being a loyal customer. Try again, and ask for the retention department. I ended up with 1000 anytime minutes, ulimited nights and weekends all for $39.99. Good luck.

There is no way to see your contract end date in the website; you can just call them up and ask, but to get a new phone you do not need to be out of contract

Score! Free Razr! Here's the brief rundown:
-Started w/ $40 plan in Aug 2003 w/ free AR Nokia 3650 from Amazon ($400)
-Had GF join me to $50 family plan in Sep 2004, -$150 AR Motorola v300 from Amazon
-GF phone broke in Jun 2005, called T-Mobile, no offers
-Today: called 3x for deal on Razr following what OP said as closely as possible, first two times (both male account specialists) were both $100+, rejected the deals
-Third time told called CSR, asked about contract expiration date, was asked by CSR about why I asked, said that I'm considering switching because of Motorola E815 from Verizon, got transferred to account specialist (female), said straight up that I'm considering switching to Verizon b/c of E815 for free, she looked it up and said that T-Mobile doesn't have it and the best they have is Razr, tried to see if I would accept it and I said only if the deal is good enough, AS talked to manager for ok, got Razr for free (tax included) w/ 1 yr contract, standard ground shipping.

FYI: for those on family plan, when you renew your contract b/c of a new phone, only the line that gets the new phone get a new contract, the other ones do NOT get renewed unless you choose to sign up for a new plan.

I must just suck.

Fourth call to T-Mobile. Got transferred to account specialist who offered me the Razr for $175. Needless to say, I passed on that.

This is kinda funny though. When the CSR transferred me to the AS, she said, and I quote, "...let me transfer you to an account specialist to see about getting you that phone for free."

I'm cursed.

Anyone want to trade their Razr for my Samsung e715?

I just got offered $199 each (I wanted 2) and they threw in the free month of service (whopee). Of course I declined and asked to speak with a supervisor who said that she couldn't do any better than that so I said no. My contract's up so I guess I'll be looking for a good deal with Cingular.

Just try again with a different rep... that's the biggest factor... oh yeah, and flirt if it's the right gender. =)

I spent about 30min on the phone (thanks Fatwallet!)... got the following Deal:

Razr Phone: $175
Instant Credit: - $75
Next mo free: - $40 (i pay $39.99/mo)
6th mo free : - $40

Total: ~$20

Plus taxes puts it to ~$30 ....but then this is before even trying to do the MIR

Thanks again to the threadstarter! = )

Got a quote of $199 also to replace an old Nokia 5190. No thanks. I use Nextel myself, so when the contract for the 4 family phones runs out, adios Tmobile.

This sounds good, but I will wait (an eternity, I'm sure) for the Sidekick III. Will it be October, will it be January? Stay tuned.

Why does T-Mobile always get their good phones last?

Hmm! just looked up the Sony Erisson K750i. It seems having many great features such as 2 mega camera with nice flash, mp3 player, Memory Stick Pro D, bluetooth..., nearly perfect except price. $411 from Amazon. Will T-Mobile provides this phone in near future? or anyone knows how to get this phone in bargain price? ^^

I really don't need a camera on my phone, but i would like to be able to hook it up to my computer and use it to access the internet. Does anyone know of a phone that would do these things and still be somewhat compact and of good quality?

True that. Most hyped and useless phone ever. The K750 is awesome.

Bongus beat me to the punch - I did the same thing when speaking to retention, stating that a friend of mine received the deal, and I also received the free nights/weekends as well. I can't exactly recall how I got through to retention, but it may have been along the lines of me thinking about cancelling and switching providers. Good luck!

Most hyped - perhaps. I don't watch enough TV or read enough magazines to see what kind of ad blitz is out there for the RAZR. Most useless? Hardly. It's the slimmest phone out there, which is quite useful when in a suit - the less bulk in the jacket, the better - or in regular dress slacks, where the same reason applies. I don't want it for all the latest bells and whistles - its size is what attracts me, so it's not useless.
