What was your technique? Snipe the lower reserved seats until someone left?

If it's the first match, I really doubt you'll be able to get anything. Timing is everything... once it starts getting late, people will start leaving (after all, it's a work/school night). Head down to the court side entrances and just hang out there waiting for people to leave... ask nicely and you should be able to get something. The lower levels open up to everyone once it gets late enough too but you want to score tickets because then not only will you have a nicer memento, you'll get in before everyone else. I'd try to get in around the side of the umpire (bigger chances of getting on tv... haha). Both times I've been to the Open I've been able to score courtside seats. Good luck!

Awesome match. I was initally in row Y, 2nd from the top during Agassi/Blakes first two sets.

Since Blake broke early in the 3rd, I got an opportunity to move just above the USA Networks booth. Section 101A / 228A. I had a good viewing angle for the remainder of the match.

I don't like sitting behind the ump, because he gets in the way of the net . Up in the nose bleed section, you can actually see over the chair ump (everything is surreal up there)

Got home at 3pm, only to get up at 6 for work this morning

Is there anywhere to get 2006 us open tickets now in time for xmas giving? I mean anywhere that will not be a $195 pricetag for a $50 ticket in the nosebleed section? Also is it really worth going if you have to sit in the promenade? I live in VA and would like to give my b/f tickets for xmas gift (new b/f so i want some points, eh?) Thx

I doubt you can get it this early...Are you certain you'll still be together a year from now?

haha good point but at least i would get girlfriend points NOW ! LOL I've found 2 websites selling tickets now www.tennistours.com and some other one selling tics in promenade for like $195 for mens finals? is that just a huge rip off or like what do tics cost normally and where do they come from?? i have no clue! Help!

You should check to see if they have the actual tickets. A lot of ticket brokers have rights to the tickets but they don't receive the actual physical paper tickets from the organization, sports team, etc. till much closer to the event. So even if they're selling them right now for 2006, I doubt you'll get the tickets shipped to you this year. I don't think it's worth it to buy it now. If you can wait till next July 2006, I'm sure you can get the original deal that was posted on here.

Also is it really worth going if you have to sit in the promenade?

here's the scoop from a NYer that goes every year. Arthur Ashe stadium sucks. The best time to go to the open is day sessions of the early rounds. Do not buy grounds passes. Instead, buy the worst, cheapest seats you can find for arthur ashe stadium for about $20. You will never sit in these seats. Instead, spend your time in 3rd or 4th row of the outer courts where your likely to see two top 20s playing a close match instead of federer winning 1,2,1. Also, you'll be able to sit in the 10th row of louis armstrong where they'll have some top matches. This strategy works until early the 2nd week.

In my opinion, if you want to see a marquis match, the finals are the worst match to attend. The mens or women's semis are much better. We sat in 1rst row promenade seats of the mens semis for about $100/ticket. These are not great seats but it's a great day/event.

The food at the event is overpriced. We typically bring a couple of subs and bottles of frozen water. If you take the 7 train from nyc, you'll ride through queens. Queens is known as the "immigrants borough" and you can get great, great inexpensive ethnic food right off the 7 train stops. Actually, the best thai restaurant in nyc is just a couple of blocks from one of the stops. Be sure you research where you're going before you get off any old stop though.

Why don't you print up a nice certificate for your gf entitling her to a trip to the open with you? If you have any chance to go and are tennis fan, you really shouldn;t miss it. IMO, it's one of the top sporting events in the US and perhaps the world.
