The Staples on Rt 7 in Falls Church, VA had a big stack of boxes of Cookies & Twix, Cookies & M&M's and Cookies & Snickers for 50 cents each. I can't find a freshness date on them but we tried several and they taste fine. I got 15 boxes, we get a lot of kids at Halloween, so I told the cashier.
I was also interested in knowing just how fresh these things were when I purchased 12 boxes at one of the Staples here in California (also at $.50/each for a box of 10). I e-mailed the company and they came back with the following response:

The first number of the freshness code indicates the year the product was produced, the second and third numbers indicate the week of the year it was produced. The remaining numbers or letters are for internal manufacturing purposes. Below is an example.
432DM41 (the 4 = year 2004) (the 32 = the 32nd week of 2004)
The freshness depends upon how the product is stored. Masterfoods USA, a division of Mars, Incorporated works closely with retail partners to assure that our products reach our consumers in fresh and satisfactory condition.
