Update:
Got my shredder at B&M in San Francisco for $20.48. It is a little heftier than I expected, measuring about 17" tall by 13" wide by 7" deep. Shreds 1 page in about 4 seconds. It shredded 7 pages of 20lb paper only a bit slower. You can tell it is struggling though. The bin has a little window so you can see when it is getting full. Overall it seems pretty decent, especially for the price.

"...Delivery: $7.95..."

You keep forgetting that in OM's website delivery is FREE: when you buy $50 and is WITHIN their local delivery area... Otherwise, OF COURSE it wouldn't be a deal... (do'h!)

Thanks op, OM is 4 miles from my house, so I can save on shipping

$18.88 + $1.46(tax) = $20.34

I bought a Royal 10 x cross cut shredder from Radio shack for 25 $ , the original price was 59 $ .They have lot of items under the ultimate clearance deal.

I bought the NoviTech unit less than one year ago and it is just failed. Now I am looking again for a new one. I would steer clear of this one if possible since it is junk.

I actually picked up the shredder from OfficeMax, then picked up this one from RadioShack planning to take back the OfficeMax shredder. Then I dsicovered that this one doesn't accept Staples while the OfficeMax one claims to. I figured since it shreds credit cards, it would be able to deal with Staples, but I guess not.

The RadioShack shredder seemed better in most areas. It handles 10 sheets of paper vs 7 of the OfficeMax shredder. And it had rolling casters. Now, the OfficeMax shredder was better in that it claims to accept Staples and it has a "limited lifetime" warranty versus the 90 day warranty of the RadioShack shredder.

Just some info for anyone considering both shredders.

The "lifetime warranty" the TS-4500 covers nothing that would ever break. It is only 5 years on the "cutting cylinders", and 1 year on "motors, gears, lights, and switches".

Question from a newbie .. what does B&M stand for?

Here's the skinny on the warranty of the OfficeMax shredder.

Cutting cynlinders: 5 years
Gears, lights and switches: 1 year
Rest (what's left?): life of the unit

Warranty is void if the product is subjected to abuse, negligence, miuse, accident or for a function it was not intended for.

To receive service under the warranty, you MUST HAVE REGISTERED THE PRODUCT 10 days after purchase.

Yeah, that's probably one of the weakest "lifetime" warranties I've seen. It's a great scam to require registration like that.

[/Q}Question from a newbie .. what does B&M stand for?

Brick & Mortar, buy at the actual store, not online.

I bought this and love it. Works very well but don't know for how long. Motor strains when a few sheets or more are fed into it.

$39.98 now, looks like this ones dead

Thx for the info, local Radio Shack has it in stock and I just burned up my old shredder. This one looks like a winner (and it's made by a company i've heard of before

QnD

Edit: FYI- I picked up the Royal shredder at Radio Shack yesterday. The owners manual does state that it is capable of shredding Staples and "small paperclips" but "proper discretion is recommended".

The Royal unit from RS is EXCELLENT.
