Just returned from my local Sams Club (zip 62704 in central Illinois) and found the Philips MX5600D home theater system on clearance for $149.81. The previous price was $299.88 and Amazon sells it for $399 (lists for $499). My local Sams Club had 2 new boxes and one display (and now has one less new one!).

This home theater in a box consists of a 600W surround sound receiver with a 5 DVD/CD changer. IMHO, it looks really good. Also included are a full array of surround sound speakers, cables, and a remote. I was originally buying this just for the receiver and was surprised that the speakers were included.

Most of the user reviews on Amazon - http://www.Amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000C1L18/qid=1127758989/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-2483763-8788708?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846 - are very good. You'll also find more details about the system at this Amazon address.

Other information of note:
1. Samsclub.com still shows this as $299.88 although it also states that prices may vary by store (so YMMV!)
2. Before someone else mentions it, there is a thread on FW about a Gift with Purchase for this sytem. The way I read it, you had to purchase the system from Charter.Philips.com to get the free DVD player. Look for yourself: http://www.charter.Philips.com/IMS_DOCS/BANNER/OAMCHARTER/CharterOrderForm.pdf
3. The SKU on my receipt is 806114

Happy hunting!

When posting a markdown/clearance deal, remember to add which store (zip/store#).

first found the item online, refresh, Item vanished from the web~~~~~~~~~~

Original posting was updated to include the Sams Club location where originally found.

Found also in the DFW, Tx area also. Green for you!

SKU?

On my receipt, the item number is 806114. Good luck out there!

no store holds that in Nashville.

I tried seraching online, logged in so it only shows my local store inventory and this is what I can find:

PHILLIPS HOME THEATER
700 W HOME THEATER
Item: 468987
~$189.xx

I've been told that when a price ends in a "1" at Sams Club that the price is below their cost. Does anyone else know if that is true?

I've noticed a bigtime slip in the quality of phillips products. Just a heads up. thanks for the post, though, OP.
