We have to buy all of our alcohol at State stores or Beer distributors. Pennsylvania is almost as bad as Utah!
Secondly, all of our alcohol is ridiculously over priced!!
Thanks for the heads up on the PA State Store gift sets...I'll have to keep an eye out for the Jaegermeister sets....Love me some good ole 'deer blood'.
I agree, especially after living most of my life in Jersey - can't get over the beer distributor thing either - I JUST WANT A SIX PACK! LOL
I picked up the Ciroc set about 3wks ago - good deal, it was on sale at the PA State Stores during Oct. Vodka is good, and the glasses are cool.
Now for Jameson to go on sale |

Bump for a purpose:
Virginia ABC lists all the gift packs they'll have available in the PDF on their website: Virginia ABC Price List
Good for those in VA and good for those to get another decent list of what's available. The gift packs are listed under "Specialty" starting at page 35-39.
Of course, the one that intrigues me, the Johnnie Walker 4 pack isn't on the price list. |

Went to West Mifflin, PA today ... they had some cute bacardi sets each w/ 2 glasses. Also a 4 pack of Bolla wine in a wooden box $32.99 and 3 bottles in a basket $26.99. They also had a few of the other sets that I saw in the store the other day (listed in the summary section of this thread). Citron Absolute has a "gift set" comes w/ Ocean Spray cranberry juice 46 oz. size, I think. I know that there were a few others too, but I can't remember all of them. |

If you live around Nassau/Queens in NY, you should check out Jericho Wines (2321 Jericho TPKE, New Hyde Park, NY). They have almost all the items in this thread in stock, and the price is pretty good. They have the whole gift set section right next to the cash register.
I picked up the Disaronno and the Bacardi gift set. Was tempted to get the Grey Groove one too, but hold off until Christmas.

I really think it depends on your location and store.. I've only been of legal age for a few years so I haven't been able to track the costs of them yet. Someone did mention though that some places were or about the same. You can always look at the size of the bottle and then find it without the gifts and see the price. |

I picked up the Baileys gift set last year. It was actually a little less than buying the bottle alone. I can't recall exactly but it was somewhere in the twenty dollar range (way less than the $50 in the link). The glasses are very nice. They fit the hand well and I use them for lots of other drinks. Nice set. |

What pecanpie said. Usually, they'll still have the normal bottles there, so you can compare. |

lousygolfer said:In several of the past years I have bought a Carolans Irish Cream Liquor gift set, with a 750ml bottle of the liquor and a pair of nice little glasses. I think the price was in the $10-12 range. I haven't seen the box set yet this season but I haven't been looking. Bought a cheap set of knockoff Baileys at costco for about that price last weekend. I don't remember if it was "Carolan's" or not. Now I hope so! |

Ever wonder why that is the case? Answer: your liquor distribution in PA is run by the mob and they have influenced enough politicians over the years not to allow a more free market system. |

I have been keeping my eye out for the Chopin Vodka set, but haven't seen it. However, I did pick up the Sam Adams Winter Classics case that now features Black Lager and I must say... YUM! I have never had this flavour. It is so good... slur slur. I am sad that it only came with two in the case. But, happy that I can go buy more. |

ALL SAM'S CLUB have a poster staing membership is nOT REQUIRED for liqour sales.
Confirmed in Concord, California. sholleran said:theman2 said:mm76 said:What stores are you finding the gift sets at? The places I've checked out haven't had anything good.
costco generally has some good stuff, if you are a member and the prices are in line with what the alcohol would cost a costco without the extras
Word to the wise - in Illinois and other states that prohibit drinking "clubs" (common in blue law states) - Costco & Sams cannot require membership to purchase alcohol or charge a surcharge. If you look around their liquor departments, they are required by law to post that policy (in Illinois, anyway). |

At ABC here in FL I bought a Ketel One Citroen 750ml with a stainless steel cocktail shaker and "The Ultimate Ketel One Cocktail Guide" on DVD for $22.99 - the same price as a 750ml.
I saw another interesting one - a Kahlua Especial that had an unusual glass with it, but it had no price posted and I had to leave. Has anyone else seen this?

If you have a Long's drugs in your area, I saw L&J Brandy (I think it was brandy?) with a silver colored flask for around $10. Southern Comfort came with a slender glass etched with their logo for around the same price. Also, I guess you can look at various drug store fliers online and off for coupons for just straight alcohol discounts like this |
