These gift sets make excellent gifts every year - and not just during the holidays.
After the holidays they put these on sale at most locations, which I then pickup at a serious discount and distribute as bday, graduation, and party gifts since most of them dont have holiday-specific packaging.
I'll be checking back on this post often after Xmas! |

I just picked up an E & J VSOP 750 mL gift set. Came out to about $9-$10 (it's on sale @ Longs this week).
It came with a real nifty stainles steel flask...
Still looking for any coupons/rebates that will make this deal even hotter. |

I'm not so sure on the mob thing...while I don't doubt it at all...
I think it's more of a stupid old Quaker law.
We just started getting liquor on Sundays two years ago, and beer in cases this past Sept in time for football.
They are attempting to put liquor in grocery stores, but the stores themselves have to be so many sq. feet and the liquor store will exist inside the store and act as a seperate entity.
Again, luckily I'm close to the MD border! |

Posting what I just found at Sav-On Drugs...forgive me if I can't be more specific but all these were up on top of the store shelves waaaaay above my eye level. They all seemed to be same price as the same sizes bottles, from those in stock.
Jim Beam whiskey + silver flask/cigar holder
Level One vodka + 2 frosted martini glasses
Sauza Tequila + 2 shot glasses
Bacardi Big Apple vodka 750 ml + 2 nice glasses which appear to be heavy and about the size of highball glasses' clear with green bottoms
Bacardi Razz Raspberry vodka 750 ml + same as above, only with rasperry colored bottoms
Wild Turkey whiskey 750 ml $15 + 2 narrow highball glasses
Southern Comfort 750 ml $10 + 1 smallish mint julep type glass with Southern Comfort on the label
Alize (whatever that is) + 1 BIG wineglass
Di Saronna + 2 glasses (clear with cut-glass type bottoms, hard to see in more detail)
Patron tequila 45 + 4 shot glasses labeled "Padron Tequila" in gold lettering.
Bailey's Irish Cream 750 ml + 2 clear glasses
Cazaborez tequila 28 + 1 HUGE margarita glass
Ketel vodka + silver cocktail shaker and recipe book (may be more in the box, couldn't tell)
Hypnotiq vodka + 1 Large sea glass colored martini glass (looked very nice!)
Gray Goose vodka + 2 frosted martini glasses
Jameson whiskey 750 ml + set of 5 coasters in an angled tower holder
Malibu mango rum $10 + 3 or 4 lighted ice cubes
Grand Marnier $33 + a nice large snifter-type glass
Also saw a bottle of Moet & Chandon nectar champagne clearanced for $20, grabbed it. Some other CA wines on clearance for $5 a bottle & up. |

Nah. The taxes keep alcohol prices are fairly standard unless you go onto an indian reservation or illegally order from out of the country or something. |

I can vouch for the Jager and 2 shot glasses... looks very nice. Also the same with the Absente, spoon, and glass look good too. The cup does have flowers on it.. not really my liking but I guess it goes with the culture it started from. I saved myself about $6 because where my parents live which is in the same state liquor is cheaper than the college town that I live in.
I noticed someone said $10 for the Soco and 2 shot glasses for $10, but around here that is $20!
Also Bacadi flavors come with a matching glass with the bottom of it the color of the fruit(Apple = Bottom of glass green) |

You don't know what suck is until you try to buy hooch in the Baptist South. Bend over and take those taxes, sinner!
And you never get any good deals (no coupons, rebates, etc.), liqour distro is controlled by monopolies so no competition (no ads either), no booze on Sundays, blah. |

I actually think I did. I think it had a glass with it, but I can't remember. How is Maker's Mark? I have received their free promotional stuff and if they take at least the same amount of time in that stuff as they do with their alcohol it has to be good.
Picked up the Level and 2 frosted martini glasses. |

Jim Beam nog is Egg-cellent.
bad pun intended.
-- As for the cheap booze. The gift set usually don't go on "sale" because the are priced similarly to the regular booze at the same size. |
