Howard starts on January 9th I believe so there won't be that much time to get your receiver if you want to be there for opening day.

I believe you have to sign up for 1 year or more for the $5 online activation. I did it the other day, and only got charged $5. If you sign up month to month, I believe online activation is $10

Actually as a follow up to my previous post I went to activate again but took the screen a step further (clicked the last button "activate") and it brought me to a summary screen. There it displayed all my pertinant info and billing summary. I did month to month and was charged $5 for activation!

Thus the on-line code works and you do not need to do a yearly.

Oh, and as an side. I called Sirius prior to doing this and got a pretty clueless CSR. After several "holds", he told me that the code wouldn't work as it is based only on specific SID from sepcific sores. I decided to try anyway. Evidently he was incorrect (not surprisingly).

Didn't work for me. Boo...

Thanks OP. I just got in.
This deal is good enough, and I just can't miss Howard Stern's opening day at Sirius!

I tried using PP10T yesterday to activate the Starmate Replay I bought at Circuit City. It didn't work, activation was the usual $10 online price.

Just ordered one...hopefully it goes through.

It is possible that the code only works at receivers purchased at Radio Shack (or a specific set of retailers), though not 100% sure.

I think you may be right....just used it on the Sportser Replay that I purchased at Radio Shack. Worked like a charm.

I activated a Starmate Replay from sirius.com w/ 1yr plan and the code did not work. Charged me $10.

Is everyone else getting taxed out the rear on service? I'm guessing it is not just sales tax as my tax was more than 2x my rate.

I just activated online. Code did not work for me. Paid $10 activation. Unit was purchased from Worst Buy. Code might only work for units purchased at specific retailers only. Not sure. YMMV

Go Howard! Finally in GA
Cheers

not 100 % sure about the tax for satellite radio, but i can tell you in FL that the tax for satellite tv is somewheres around 13 - 18%. And we can thank our senators for that, since they approved it. I'm gonna go get mine tomorrow, since Best Buy was out of them when i showed up at 11 am, supposed to get a shipment in tonight.

Bought my Starmate at RadioShack and the code worked. Only charged $5 for activation with a 1 year plan. The code is also working for 10% off items in my shopping cart.. BTW I am LOVING Sirius Radio so far.. Really cool programming..

Not working for me. Sportster Replay from BB... I'm getting dinged for $10 on the activation and 0% discount on my cart.

This thread has been going for alittle while, seems if you bought from Radio Shack and sign up for more than the monthly subscription, the $5 activation will work. That seems to be the only common theme so far.

can any one tell me why this Sirius so popular? any different to the normal radio?

Actually I activated on the "month to month" and got charged the $5 activation.

As an aside: I bought the Sportster Replay on eBay but it looks as though the origins of it was from a Radio Shack lot.

Yeah, I saw it was leaning that way... just adding another data point.

On another note, I used the code "friggin10" to get $30 GCs from them for $27. Used to work at 20% off on the $50 GCs but they're "sold out" (not sure how you can be sold out of GCs). Bought 5 of them for $135... and will use those to activate. 10% is better'n squat

Only those who purchased their tuners at RadioShaq have reported success using the code. OP, please edit title and the details contained within your post to reflect this.
