you are suppose to leave it on channel #1 for 15-20 minutes after activation.

then check all your channels by scrolling up the channel list.

make sure channel #7 and #175 are working. if these are working, along

with all the other channels, everything is good. if other channels are

working, but not 7 and 175, put the radio back on channel #1 for

15-20 minutes more. if that don't work, call xm back.

ps - make sure your radio has a clear line of sight to the sky,

no trees blocking, garage, etc.

I didn't buy anything special. just use a long stick to bring the original antenna out of my window, and made it face south sky (follow the link I mentioned above). then I got 2 bars, which is the minimum to have the radio work ^^
since it is digital signal, 2-bar and 6-bar should make no difference (correct me if that's not true).

btw, if you couldn't get it work within 24 hours or so after activation, you need to call in again to ask for "re-send signal".

I bought the Delphi Skyfi receiver from Amazon for FAR.

And the Circuit City Audiovox Kit, which I will be receiving shortly.


Can I activate the Skyfi receiver for free over the web and not start the service. I realized too late that it was the receiver alone and that I need a Delphi or Roady Kit for it to be any use.

Now, when I get the Audiovox Kit I will activate it and use the 3 month free service coupon.

So I wanted to know if the Delphi Skyfi unit can be activated without service and will I be able to use the other coupon with 3 month service free for the Audiovox unit.

Lastly, are there any Roady or Delphi kits for FAR or close to it so I can use the receiver I bought from Amazon.

Not sure if I confused anyone, but to clarify I wanted to know if a Radio can be activated and not used. This is so I can take advantage of the free activation but decide not to use the Radio subscription service at this time. Basically I am thinking Activation and Subscription are different things, the radio can be activated, but not necessarly be part of subscription until I choose. Thanks.
