nomansland said: and monthly fee?

see XM's site.

I'm giving 2 as x-mas presents so this is just perfect. Thanks

Not a hot deal, no Wendy the Retard or High Pitch Eric.

Of course there is a monthly fee dufus, it is XM Satellite radio. Where have you been?

This post is a definite GREEN.

I have a code on my desk that says Free activation and your first three months free with code XMSCION03. I don't know when it expires. I don't even remember where I got it. Probably here.

That may be if you buy a new Scion car as it has SCION in it.

XM sent me a postcard, as I'm a former subscriber, offering free reactivation and $5 a month for the first three months, and I took it. The place to resubscribe is http://xmagain.com

You can probably thank Howard Stern for this "gift"

hey biggy...i know you're heart's in the right place....hehe...but that quote...basically is saying 'be kind because it might be an angel you're kind to, and you'll get something in return somehow...'

be kind for kindness sakes

may be hot..... if stern's associates legal problems take him
with them. or not hot as hd radio becomes widely available for free
over next few months.

As long as it is a subscription based network (or at least a network with Parental control capability) then he will be free of the FCC ...

Eitherway, I'm glad that Stern went to Sirius ... and I'm really glad I have XM :-D

I just signed up last night and paid the $9.99 Activation Fee online.

I just called XM billing (800-967-2346) and told them I recieved a postcard in the Mail with the free Code and Forgot to use it last night, and that I wished to use it now and have the $9.99 credited back to my account.

She said ok - I gave her the code and the $9.99 was taken off my Bill

Thanks OP!

Woohoo!

If you need a sideshow, go to WalMart.

A bit off topic, but I was reading this morning that the FCC wants to regulate satellite now...what a bunch of bunk!

XMSCION03, call it in and get not only free activation, but your first 3 months are FREE. Many of us on FW have done this successfully, myself included.

I called in and asked if I could use XMSCION03 (thanks suezyque) and the $77/yr promos to stack for a total of 15 months for $77. I didn't use a code for the $77/yr, just asked for the lower rate.

I picked up a Roady2 @ Staples Saturday night for $15 (used a $15/$75 coupon). I called in today and activated it using the Scion code. I'll get to try it out for free for 3 months. If I like XM, I will buy the the Terk interface for my Pioneer head unit. The Terk XM receiver and Pioneer interface are currently $50 AR @ Crutchfield.

Thanks OP for the thread and suezyque for the code.

I bought a XM radio as a present and paid the first 3 months up front, will I have to pay the activation fee when I activate it, and could I add the scion cade to it to get my next 3 months free?

NO and Yes.

considering this... need to save the $$ but hate to miss the deal

Man,

This was one of the easiest deal to setup. Circuit City had the product instock and advertised correctly. They even printed out the rebate form correctly. Then called XM gave the lady the promotion scion code and I was done in ten minutes. You can't beat this deal FAR XM player, free activation, and 3 months free!! Within 20 mins of me opening the package I was listening to XM. They even allow you to listen to XM free on your computer XM-Here

thx op! will use the scion code first though.

I don't get it. Why would anyone pay for a subscription service for radio? We have podcasts, 100gb HD MP3 players, FM radio receivers, and a slew of adapters. I was driving with a friend cross country, and was all pepped on the idea of satellite radio, and I found as little interesting programming on XM as I did on the normal radio. Middling and uninspired, but with no commercials. Granted, I don't give a hoot about team sports, nor Howard Stern...

And you guys are supposed to be thrifty and saavy. Is there something I'm missing?

have you seen what HD receivers cost?

this is a no-brainer: comparing HD terrestrial radio to satellite radio is like comparing apples to oranges.

There are PLENTY of things that Satellite has that's worth the money... There are hundreds of channels to choose from. Any type of music has multiple channels... Sports is a biggie... CNN news, Good Morning America, and a whole bunch of other talk channels... And how do you fill up those MP3 players? Most likely by buying MP3's, or downloading them illegaly... And as for FM radio, when have you heard two songs in a row? All they do is play commercial after commercial... There are no(or very limited on certain channels) commercials on satellite radio. HUGE plus. Ever since I got XM, I haven't listened to "free" radio since...

Worth the money to actually hear music. There's a difference in being thrifty and being cheap. Thrifty is the exact reason for this post. Get free activation and 3 months free service. That's thrifty. Paying for a subscription service, doesn't mean you're not thrifty. Saving money on that service, now that's thrifty!

Perfect for the 2 radios i bought. Thanks OP

Has anyone else managed to stack the scion deal with the $77/yr deal? I am giving xm as a gift for Christmas and wanted to give a year subscription...this seems to be unbeatable if they go for it.

Locally we have a radio station that plays 70's - 80's that I really like. I didn't have much inclination to buy xm because of that. I got a new company truck that has xm built in and after listening to xm for my free 3 months I hated to go back to locals. Between commercials and a prince song every hour it is driving me nuts.

Anyhow my 3 months ended and I really didn't have the cash to renew. Along comes a phone call from xm drone. Asks if I like the service and if I want to renew. I said yes and no. Then the interrogation began. He asks me all kind of questions. It has been a couple of months now so I don't remember all the conversation. I did tell them it was a company vehicle. I didn't tell him my dad owns the company, I wanted to get off the phone I will activate when I am ready. Anyhow the last question he asks is why did you spend an extra $300 for the xm feature if you weren't going to use it? I don't know about you but that lit the fuse and it is very short. In so many words I explained when you are looking for a truck and you find one that meet the needs and you spend $40,000 to buy it. $300 doesn't kill the deal. Yea they could have ordered a new truck without xm and could have waited 6 months for it to come in. But my truck was trashed I got rear ended and the model year was changing over. Definately worth the extra $300. The next sound the drone heard was a click. My wife said it was a legit question. under the circumstances which I had explained I didn't feel that it was. Well that is enough ranting.

I can say that I miss my xm and plan on reactivating it. I got a card in the mail for the $77 for 15 months but it ended on the 15th. I kind of forgot about it. I am definately missing Top Tracks. I listened to that station for 3 months and don't remember hearing the same song twice. Thanks OP

I got in on the FAR Circuit City deal, and have the XM hooked up in my car. I would like to also be able to hook up the XM in my home. Can anyone advise on what I would need to buy and possibly where the best deal is? Thanks!!

Depends on which XM unit you bought, you might be able to buy a home kit from any electronic store. Cost usually runs from 30-50 dollars.

I don't know what reciever you have but you have several options. The easiest is probobly through the internet which is part of your subscription. Next is something like this Text if you have the skyfi the boom box works nicely. If you are wanting to connect to your current stereo system look at the accessories in the side bar of the link above. The skyfi home kit.

edit
I just happened along the CC thread. Looks like it is the audiovox. Check here

Oh yea that is if you want to take the reciever from your car to the house. If you want both you need another reciever. I am sure you know that I just wanted to clairify though.

Is there phone activation on Christmas? Is it too busy to get a hold of them? I would like to activate a unit but it is already wrapped up for Christmas. I guess I need to turn it on to read the digital id before I can activate?

I bought the $15 Roady2 over BF at Staples, and before I opened the thing, called to activate it because I am a true FWer and wasn't planning on paying ANY activation fee, let alone $13 a month.

Talked to a lady who sent me to a lady in retention who gave me all my demands. I wanted $10 a month and no activation fee.

Turns out that there are better deals out there, but I don't mind. $125 for one year of XM including equipment is fine by me.

I suppose I just called in and activated my radio with the code "xmscion03",, but how come I have only channel 1 and 247 now?! Did I miss anything? Please help.. thanks
