MrM, I'm a big guy as well, and recently bought a Nature's Rest(a Spring Air Company) latex bed from Sleepys in NJ. They are clearing out last years models. I paid $750 for a queen size. It was the Serene model which originally listed for $3699 and probably sold for 2-2.5k after negotiations.
This is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.
This is a YMMV type of deal, but you can call the clearance center in Eatontown NJ to see if any are left. |

Latex mattresses are sold by several different labels, but mine was made by Sealy. (Manhattan Beach).
This link will tell you more than you'll ever want to know about Latex mattresses. The guy is in the business, but gives straight answers and doesn't seem to push his store's product. Obviously, the trick is to figure what works and then find the best deal. In my case, I scored a great buy on eBay. Just dumb luck.

20% code still working on site. I am close to pulling the trigger on this and purge my house of the sorry excuse of a mattress that is Select Comfort, but want to be sure I am getting the Heavenly Bed that we liked so much at the Westin Hotels.
I called the Westin number and the sales lady was insistant that the W Hotels bed IS NOT the same bed as the Westin, adding that it did not have the pillow top. I informed her that they offered the pillow top version as well as the plush top. She still maintained that it was not the same mattress.
I then called the W Hotels number and the salesman maintained that the pillow top mattress offered on their site IS the Westin Heavenly bed.
Who to believe?
Also found this via a little googling.

In reference to the Westin Heavenly Bed this guy states,
"We carry the same exact model called the Cunningham Level 100 Pillow Top Simmons Beautyrest Classic. This mattress is not as soft and does not have quite as strong a coil system as the Exceptionale, but it is an excellent quality with a comfortable feel. This mattress set is $949 Queen, $1199 King including the whole set, delivery, and free interstate sales tax." |

I'm going to try to go to Nordstrom where this bed is supposedly on display. If it looks good AND the code is still working after that, I'm in. |

Don't forget that the "Heavenly Bed" is more than just a mattress - it includes all the bedding and pillows. If you're asking Westin or W about the mattress only, make sure you specifically mention the mattress.
I agree that the Westin beds are some of the most comfortable I've slept on. The pillows, sheets, comforter, etc. were an important part of the experience.
Next I have to find a curved shower curtain rod to create my own Heavenly Shower. Off to Lowe's tomorrow to see if they have it.... |

My set arrived today, delivered by 1-800-Mattress. Big thumbs up all around! Already can feel a huge difference from the old mattress, and haven't even slept on it yet. Not to mention that the featherbed hasn't even arrived yet - |

1800-Mattress delivered my queen plush mattress today and took away my old one. I later realized that my mattress is ripped, so I called WHotelStore and they are sending me a new one. My opinion on the mattress is that it's ok, but I don't find it extremely comfortable. It's definitely better than my old mattress, but I can't justify the $700 price tag yet. Maybe I have to invest on buying the feather bed. One of the members mention that Westin gets their products from Pacific Coast. I checked out Linen and Things and they have this for only $39.99. Featherbed from LNT What do you guys think? |

Actually the $39.99 one looks too thin. Think this one is better. There is also a 20% coupon. This One
Then again what's the point of buying a new mattress when all I can do is just buy the featherbed topper? I might just buy the topper and test it out. LNT has a better return policy. |

Hey,
Are the delivery people supposed to be tipped? If so, how much? They're coming sometime between 12 and 4, and I have no idea if I'm supposed to tip them or not. |

We just received our Cal King plush top. Haven't tried it out yet since we are waiting to move in to our new house.
Is the boxspring supposed to be two twins? I've seen that setup in the past but just want to confirm. |

It can't hurt, but it's up to you. Depends on how hard it is for them to bring in your new mattress. I would personally tip 2 guys doing this between $20 and $40 total.

I don't think I've ever seen a one piece KING boxspring, but I could be wrong. Most King size foundations are two smaller ones to make it easier to get them into a given location. |

Thx. I seem to remember my folk's old king had a king-sized boxspring but I'm probably wrong.
I didn't tip our delivery guys mainly because they showed up nearly an hour AFTER the 4 hour delivery window and without an apology. |

Tipped the guys $10 apiece. They were in and out in literally 5 minutes and took away my old mattress, even though it wasn't entirely clear they were supposed to. (Guy 1: "Is it on the invoice?" Guy 2: Yes, "it's on the invoice". I didn't see it on the invoice, so I assume they were doing me a favor).
Couldn't have been smoother. On the other hand, I have had a fair bit of furniture delivered recently, and when I tipped the guys have always looked at me like they were a little surprised. |

i HATE FW!!!!
Caught this thread, and wound up ordering a Queen plushtop set yesterday, sight unseen. Did I need to spend $800 on a bed? Dunno, but I did anyway!
Actually looks like a great deal and thanks to the OP. Realized I needed a new bed as the old soft-sided waterbed mattress was probably less comfortable than I realized. Had thought about a new mattress, didn't know where to begin to figure out what a good deal was on a good mattress. So I let this thread make my mind up for me. I don't think I'll be disappointed, fortunately. $^)
Now it's time to find other ways to spend more $$$, whether I want to or not........... |

How many of your folks already recieved the mattress? I live in Boston,MA and only got a phone call from 1800Mattress saying that they will look into the inventory and give me a call once it's available. Thanks all.
For those who already receive the mattress, how do you like it? I ordered a full plush w/ the foundation. |

For those of you guys that received the plush top. What do you guys think? I'm getting replacement for my mattress because it came damaged. Not sure if I should exchange it for a pillow top. |

The same thing happened to me. The plushtop came with a stain. The delivery man said will exchange. When delivered lay on the mattress and realized it did not feel the same as the one in the hotel. Mentioned this to the driver and he said can exchange within 15 days. Thought it had been nonrefundable but thought maybe this is because it was delivered by 1 800 mattresses. After they left buyers remorse sunk in. I called to exchange and waited for a reply. Took a few days and they told me to contact W hotels customer service directly. Called W Hotels expecting a run around and got it. Non refundable etc. Will replace stained boxspring but not mattress. By the way, no it isn't like the one in the hotel because you need to purchase featherbed etc. to get that feel. I mentioned that the driver had told me can exchange within 15 days, otherwise I would have refused delivery. Was told they will contact driver and call me back. Finally called me back and said will exchange plushtop for pillowtop. I find the pillowtop much better and can recommend. They told me damaged mattresses are covered by the Simmons warranty and will be exchanged for the same mattress, by the way. But if you can get pillowtop, go for it! Also I have slept at W and Westin and I don't think the W pillowtop is quite the same. |
