Losing sleep over not having this deal.....

We're in Calif.
Got ours delivered within a week of ordering.
Everyone talking this is the best thing since sliced Bread.....

Call me unusual however it's not really "that" exceptional of a mattress IMO...
Purchased a twin plushtop for my 14yr old son's room. I was expecting a lil more of a WOW factor for close to $500!

It's hard to get excited about a twin bed IMO.....

The W Store has a 40% off code. T4K7P. 40% off is good til June 30. Code is located on the front page of the W Store Webpage. Picked up a queen Plush top for $705 shipped!

I am thisclose to ordering a king plush W bed. Then I googled and found a couple of articles by people who said that after 6 months the bed felt really soft and hurt their back and had indents even with turning. I have some issues (aches from cancer med, some degenerative disk disease in back and some hip bursitis) so I need a comfy bed. My current one is too firm and I feel sore every morning.

So all you people who have had your plush W for more than 6 months - how is it holding up?

Thanks!

i'm so sad i just missed the 40% off sale!!! Please let me know when it comes back.

I have the plush. It's a nice bed. Got it maybe 5 months ago. I think it is a little soft for my tastes, but we had a super hard bed before (we had to put eggshell foam on it to make it more comfy)

The upside to the bed is that it isolates movement pretty well, so if you get up to go to the bathroom or when my wife gets up for work, it doesn't wake me up. But I think if you like your bed pretty firm, it might be a bit too soft.

soapysuds said: i'm so sad i just missed the 40% off sale!!! Please let me know when it comes back.

Someone will probably post a new code in a few days....that's usually how it works at least

I actually went into a store (Sleep Country USA in the Seattle area) and tried the Simmons the W is based on. It felt too soft for me. I had told the guy I had a 40% off coupon to buy online and he said he would meet it and then beat it by 5%. He also said he'd do that deal on any bed. I tried a World Class by Simmons and liked it a whole lot more. He then quoted me the 40% and 5% off ... but on a queen by mistake. He gave me the king with low rise boxsprings for that queen bed price with free delivery. It was of course more than $830 for the king W with the discount, but I felt it was a better bed for me.

Unfortunately I then did something so stupid I am still shaking my head. I cut off the tags...ALL the tags (yes the do not remove one) ... without thinking. That voided my ability to turn it in for another type of bed within the 100 day trial period (and I think voided the 10 year warranty as well. Sigh). I want to kick myself. It feels absolutely perfect right now but I worry it will soften up too much in the next few months.

Anyone have and care to share the new code?! I will be moving within the next few weeks and would LOVE to have the heavenly bed soon after I get into my new home!!!

Thanks!

How similar (or different) are the Westin Heavenly Bed and the W Hotel Bed? Same thing???

Thanks Labmonkey!

I stay at Westin hotels a lot when I travel on business, and they are the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on.

I just got home from another stay at a Westin, and woke up with another sore back after sleeping on my old mattress.

I've decided to pony up and buy a Westin Heavenly Bed, but I'd love to buy one on deal.

Anyone have a code for 40% discount?

lexieakdg said: How similar (or different) are the Westin Heavenly Bed and the W Hotel Bed? Same thing???

No. Do some research. I cant remember wtf all the differences are, but the w bed is basically a simmons beautyrest classic... where as the Westin heavenly bed is something else.

After another Google search, I found a 40% employee discount code that works at The W store website.

The W Hotels are also owned by Starwood, which owns the Westin hotels.

The bed you will find at the W Hotels is the Plush mattress, but they also sell a pillow top mattress, which the customer service rep told me is the same bad as the Heavenly bed at The Westin hotels. Both The W pillow top mattress and The Westin pillow top mattress are described as being 13" thick.

The coupon code for The W store is T6F4M.

I just placed my order for a Cal King pillowtop for $1,032 after discount.

I found the following informative explanation on the following link:

---------------------------- Help FAQ found on another site --------------------------------------

Q: What is the difference between the two Heavenly Beds being offered?
A: To answer this question, lets first start with a bit of history so in case you draw upon any personal experience with any of our beds, you can better understand what is being offered here and now.

The Heavenly Beds installed in our Westin Hotels right now are from two different generations. The majority of Westin Hotels have the original Beautyrest® bed from Simmons, equipped with a two-sided pillow top mattress, circa 1999 -2001. These particular mattresses are characteristically known to feel springy with a soft pillow top underneath and a medium-soft supporting foundation. The mattress height is 10.5" with a foundation (box spring) of 7.0". Given this is a two sided mattress, during its normal lifespan it requires a quarterly rotation (just like your car tires, this keeps the bed evenly worn). As wonderful as these beds are, they are no longer available as bed technology has changed.

The next generation of Heavenly Beds appeared circa 2001-2005. These mattresses have a taller profile height of 12.5" and taller foundation of 8.75". With new technology in fabrication and construction, these beds are single-sided, which basically means no rotation is required during its normal life. Their comfort zone is soft to firm. Soft being right under your immediate backside (2 - 3" inches deep) from the top side (pillow top), to firm support from the individual coil pocketed construction underneath. Both, the original Heavenly Bed and this newer model have hotel fire retardant ticking otherwise deeming these beds as commercial products. This model is one of the two Heavenly Beds available for purchase in this program.

In 2005 the Retail ~ Heavenly Bed joined the family of Westin beds. This model is purely a retail bed not found in our hotels, however it is made available for associate purchase. Designed for a very discerning customer, this model provides that residential look and feel for the home application. In a recently formed partnership with the Nordstrom Department Store, along with Hotels@Home, Westin sells thousands of these beds to our guests. This particular mattress has additional foam layering in the pillow top bringing the total profile height up to 13.25", while the foundation remains at 8.75". The fabric (ticking) is upgraded to a residential design with a softer hand, which clearly distinguishes it from the hotel / commercial versions in our hotels. Aside from the new profile height, its ticking and retail emblem these beds are of similar construction and specification of the popular single-sided hotel mattress. This particular Heavenly Bed proudly displays a beautifully designed Heavenly Bed Emblem at the foot of the bed. Perfect for a little show and tell with your friends.

Q: What is the difference between the Heavenly Beds and the W Hotel bed?
A: The three available beds from Simmons are all Beautyrest models. The difference (besides what is noted in the previous question) is not performance, but layers....in that the two Heavenly Beds are pillow top applications, whereas the W Hotel bed is not. They all have individual coil pocketed construction and single sided, no flip technology. All three beds are simply great beds, but for you, it will be a matter of much softness your back prefers. Read question # 5, which may help your decision.

Q: What is the difference between the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper and the Four Points by Sheraton ~ Four Comfort Bed?
A: The simple answer is nothing more than the label representing the two different brands. These two beds are identical with the exception of their individual branded soft goods package they use (e.g. ensembles: duvet, pillows and blankets - each sold separately by Hotels@Home).

Q: Are these the same beds found in the department stores?
A: Yes and No. Not to make things more difficult to understand, both manufacturers offer similar retail product in stores. Simmons has their successful Beautyrest line, while Sealy has the highly regarded Posturepedic line. Outside of the purpose built Heavenly Bed (at Nordstrom), you may find similarities to the retail products. Although, our beds do have some slight differences from coil counts, fabric ticking, profile height and construction, designed to meet our custom criteria in beds. This fact does not necessarily make one bed better or worst, just different.

Q: Which bed is better (Westin / Sheraton / Four Points / W Hotel)?
A: Of all the questions, this is the most difficult to answer. Being mindful of the fact we think all our beds are great, this question and answer becomes subjective. It really depends more upon your personal sleeping habit and need. In other words "what is good for me may not be good for you". To define the comfort of these beds, I often use a non-scientific judgment. Basically taking into account what your back might feel laying on the mattress (facing up) for the first 2-3" inches of mattress depth, and then what support lies thereafter. Avoid getting too technical on count coils, type, gage, layers, thickness, and materials... while they are all important, Starwood already made sure we had enough of everything important in our beds. What is really important is how you feel on the bed. The best approach is for you to personally test the bed when staying at one of our hotels, if possible. If not, then for what its worth use my simple rating. Caution...remember my opinion is subjective!

Nope. I'm actually in a Westin right now. I pulled the sheets and pad off the bed the label says Simmons Beautyrest. Its the same one I bought from Sleepy's for $762.

Hi! I just placed an order using a new employee discount code, but am worried they will backtrack it on me. Did yours end up working for you - did you get the bed for that price?

The code just expired...

Have you received your W pillow top bed yet? Is it really the same as the Westin Heavenly pillow top bed OR did the W Store rep. just tell you that to sell a bed? Thanks for info.

I was wondering for people that got the normal sized box spring, if it will look too high for this frame im planning to get from ikea. I also have a 5" feather bed coming in the mail.
Thanks

Ikea

Or should i not even get a box spring and put it directly on the platform bed?

Sleepys does not carry the W bed or Westin bed. According to simmons, the "quality" level of the W bed is somewhere between the Simmons lower end Beauty rest classic and world class beauty rest. The W bed is actually at 1-800 mattress showrooms if you would like to try they. I just went through the process of purchasing a bed at sleepys, The beauty rest classic can be negotiated down to about ~650 bucks with shipping and tax queen size set(original pricetag was about 1500 for the set and the advertised sale price was 1200). I was able to negotiate a mid level simmons world class queen set to 990 with tax and shipping, original pricetag for this set was 2199 and sale price was advertised at 1899. In the end, you should try them out and see what works for you, but you might be able to find a better deal at your local mattress store as long as you are prepared to do some heavy haggling.

We bought the pillowtop from Whotelsthestore.com in August '07 and hate it. We both wake up with sore shoulders or hip bones.

I am suprised you would continue to sleep on it for over a year if you hate it...

Exactly. I lasted about 60 days on my $1K Select Comfort bed. To craigslist it went and now I sleep soundly on my W pillowtop.

Just the usual word of caution to mattress shoppers: just because this is a decent deal (see my post below linking you to an essentially the same mattress sold at Macy's for the about same price), does not mean that it is the right deal for you. When it comes to mattresses people's comfort preferences vary WIDELY, so many mattresses that work for some people will cause excruciating pain to others.

These are good quality mattresses in the Simmons Classic line (not Worldclass, as has been incorrectly noted in some of the previous threads). This does not take anything away from the mattress, however, since there is no direct correlation between the amount of money that you spend and the comfort that you achieve in a mattress. At the same time, I find the W mattresses to be far too soft and not sufficiently supportive for my taste and, personally, much prefer the extra firm and cushion firm mattresses in the Simmons Worldclass line with 1260 coils and a memory foam layer (the memory foam layer on these mattresses does not have the slow sinking feeling which I hate of regular memory foam mattresses and is significantly more durable than regular foam, so it reduces permanent body impressions that make mattresses uncomfortable).

Again, this does not take anything away from this deal -- just make sure that you'll be comfortable on these mattresses or it won't matter how good of a financial deal you got.

Now, the number of coils in these mattresses indicates that it belongs to the Classic line. Simmons uses the coil count in the Queen sized mattresses(here is a link to Simmons' website, which confirms this) to decide whether a mattress belongs in its Classic versus Worldclass lines. As such, a Queen W mattress has 825 coils, which puts it in the Classic line. To confirm, just take a look at this Simmons Beautyrest Classic "Adrian" Plush Mattress Set sold at Macy's -- it is a Beautyrest Classic with 800 coils. I've previously spoken with Macy's and Simmons and they've confirmed that this is essentially the same mattress as the W mattress with 25 fewer coils. I've also tried this mattress at Macy's and one at Nordstrom and don't see any difference (as I posted above, they are way too soft for my taste though and I feel like I don't have enough support but that's always subjective).

As you can see from this link taken directly from Simmons' website, a Simmons Worldclass mattress has 980 coils in queen sized mattresses. W Hotels have the "worldclass" label on them because their queen mattresses have 825 coils, which puts them ever so slightly above the Classic line (by 25 coils). In other words, in this case the label is somewhat of a marketing trick to cause people to think that they are getting more mattress for their money. Please note that Macy's price is very similar to the price at which the W mattresses sell and further discounts are pretty easy to obtain off the Macy's price with things like 20% off giftcards.

Again, this doesn't take anything away from this deal or from this mattress and if it is comfortable, you won't care about the label on it.

P.S.
To clarify, I am not trying to threadcrap and am certainly in no way implying that this is a bad mattress or is a bad deal. I just want to make sure that people realize that in purely financial terms, this is a decent but not an amazing deal and can be fairly easily matched by other retailers. Hence, if you like this mattress, then by all means buy it. On the other hand, if you are looking for slightly different characteristics in a mattress, you can fairly easily get them through other retailers at a price that's just as competitive without any haggling (you can't haggle at Macy's or at Mattress Firm, for instance). For instance, while the W Hotels only offer two comfort levels, you can get way more comfort levels of this mattress through other retailers. For instance, Macy's sells the Cushion Firm and the Firm versions of the same exact mattress for the same $897 price (minus the 20% off, if you can get it through gift cards). By the way, I do not work for Macy's, am in no way affiliated with them and am not endorsing Macy's in any way. I am just referencing Macy's inventory here because it is very conveniently available online (and because their 20% off gift cards are relatively easy to obtain).

Because I can't afford a new one! But two weeks ago I bought the 3" Novaform mattress topper from Costco and it has made a world of difference! Now in the summer it may be too hot, but for now it is wonderful!
