If you think the Heavenly beds are nice you really should check out the Foam Mattress post. You can build a queen size Temper Pedic type mattress for well under $500 and it will beat the heavenly bed hands down. I've owned a select comfort, stayed at westins for many years now (frequent buisness traveller) and now I own a memory foam mattress that I built myself.

that may be all well and good but convincing the wife otherwise is a whole other matter... those westin hotel beds are amazing.

Are they just selling the mattress and we use our own boxspring?? Or are they selling boxsprings as well because I didn't see boxspring listed?

This is my first post so hopefully it is helpful.

I did some more research. The pillow top version according to the WHotelstore is the Heavenly Bed. According to the CSR even though they are all StarPoint properties, Westin has a trademark on the name "Heavenly Bed" so WHotelstore has to call it something else. When I pressed on some of the small difference like Westin saying it is 13" and the W site says 12.5" they gave a Starpoint hotline to Simmons. I spoke with a Simmons rep there and she confirmed the same thing that the pillowtop version is the same as the Heavenly Bed.

I'm still not sure why there is such a price gap between the W store and the Westin store but it is significant. $1320 delivered at W Store and $1625 delivered at the Westin store for me in Washington DC. We are going to Nordstrom to try one out since my wife has slept on one before. But it seems like a pretty good deal when you consider I get to avoid the annoying bed sales people and I've slept on one many times before.

Hotel Beds Really Can Be the Stuff of Dreams W and Westin use different models of custom-made Simmons mattresses and box springs that you can buy by contacting the hotels. Interestingly, top-rated W's queen set, priced at $700 for sale to customers, costs less than either Westin's ($1,100) or Ritz-Carlton's ($1,149, custom-made by Sealy). But W really puts out for the duvet/comforter, at $280 for a queen, more than Ritz-Carlton or Westin.

So there may be a difference afterall, and it says the W is better than the Westin, but it costs less?!?

I think its a good deal because hotels test 1000s of different types of mattresses for durability, comfort, etc. I don't think individual buyers would have the resources to be able to test mattresses this extensively. What they finally chose has to be one of the best since their reputation depends on it.

I would suggest going to a sleep's and trying a similar coiled Simmons and then deciding. I was Sleepy's today and the equivalent 850 coil queen plush top was $1700.

can someone tell me what the difference is between this simmons mattress at WalMart and the W bed? They seem virtually identical and the WalMart bed is less expensive- even with tax and shipping.

Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents on the Tempurpedic mattresses. Yes, they are very expensive. Yes, they initially are amazing; I stopped tossing and turning and barely moved all night. BIG downside- they REALLY soften in about 4 years (both hubbie and myself are thin, btw). Their "wonderful" warranty: WORTHLESS. The warranty covers depression, but the mattress doesn't depress much- unless you actually apply pressure and then it virtually collapses, even making a cellophany type noise. When it softens the back pain it creates is awful; I woke up with severe sacro-iliac joint pain every morning for 2 weeks. Literally from the next day, as soon as I replaced the bad over a year ago I have not had any pain. So- I would think long and hard about paying a couple of grand for a bed that will literally disintegrate within 4 years. Despite multiple attempts I was not able to get any consideration from the company either (and I am never one to let things slide, but ultimately waking up pain free was more important so we basically ate it).

I did a project at Starwood Hotels (Sheraton, Westin, W, St. Regis) and they really do have exclusive deals with the mattress companies to create something different and improved over the similar coil version.

Yes, the amount of coils are the same but the cloth and the foam and padding will be different enough to notice. But it raises a good question of buying it from WalMart because its similar enough and you have a way of returning it.

The foam queen sized Temper Pedic mattresses are hot - literally.

The foam does not breath. It gots hotter and hotter and cause many people to sweat. Also they start to compress over time.

I'll stick with a conventional anytime.

Because I can't afford a new one! But two weeks ago I bought the 3" Novaform mattress topper from Costco and it has made a world of difference! Now in the summer it may be too hot, but for now it is wonderful!
