Staples TaxCut Deluxe

TaxCut Deluxe at Staples for $19.99. Coupon 36723 gives $5 off this product at checkout, and there's an Easy Rebate for a $15.00 gift card. Offers expire on the 21st and the 28th respectively.

I'm using this with the Microsoft Money Deluxe more-than-free-after-rebate-and-PM deal, as well as the Norton bundle deal posted here. Also, Print Perfect Deluxe and Perfect Attorney Platinum are back in stock, which are free after easy rebate. Good deals for coupon filler.

Just note that for a $30 off $150 coupon, your total will have to be over $155, because the $5 coupon counts against the total.

First post, hope it's alright. (;

Edit:

Couple of questions are popping up.

The $15 is a Staples gift card, but you submit it by the same process as an Easy Rebate. The $5 is a coupon provided by Staples on the product page, and is good with other coupons like $20 off $100 or $30 off $150.

This is not the Federal + State version, and as far as I know it doesn't include State for free. I believe that the Federal + State version is $30 with a $10 gift card and $5 dollar coupon. This works for me because my federal taxes are complicated this year, but my state taxes are simple.

As for why buy this, when it doesn't include state or you can download it for free(possibly). Well, Microsoft Money Deluxe is free after rebate with this--as mentioned elsewhere--and you can get a money making PM on top. Not to mention the FAR filler that can get you up to a coupon.

Better if it it a $15 EasyRebate

thanks OP. Almost jumped on the deal but it's $8 for shipping

Is this good in store too?

Nice deal. Remember that the deluxe version includes:

State program included inside (no rebate required)
Bonus! DeductionProŽ included inside (no rebate required)
FREE federal e-file after mail-in rebate

If you are a Staples reward customer, shipping is free. Or buy MS Money for 39.99 - 40 rebate - 20 PM credit = make $20 after rebate plus free shipping!!!

If you are only interested in federal tax cut, it is free download (search FW forums)

This promotion says $15 Gift Check.

Is there a difference between an "Easy Rebate" and "Gift Check"?

Yes one is a check that you can get money for and the gift check is only good at St@ples. But with so many deals there it is as good as cash to me .

I think Gift Check is same as store credit, and Easy Rebate is cash.

Does Staples have instore pickup option?

I used taxcut last year, and I was sent a free copy of TaxCut+State in the mail this year. I guess they make their money on the electronic transmissions. $15.95/Federal (1st one rebated), $15.95/State (no rebates)

Why don't you guys download it for free at H&R website? I have downloaded yesterday.

Virbla said: Why don't you guys download it for free at H&R website? I have downloaded yesterday.

I don't think you get to download the State version for free, just the Federal version.

Actually, the one with the State included is $29.99 here.

is the gift check an easyrebate or a mail in??

How?

Are you sure it includes state?

Virbla said: Why don't you guys download it for free at H&R website? I have downloaded yesterday.

The free download I found was Taxcut Standard, not Deluxe. Nothing wrong with that, but the Deluxe version does include more coverage.

If anyone has confirmation on whether this deal includes the state and free Federal e-filing (FAR), please post. The Staples site is not clear on that point. Searchs for the model show that other sites are selling this as Deluxe without State.

the TaxCut delux mentioned here does not include State. Taxtcut with State is $29.99
but taxcut with state only has a $10 easy check back instead on $15

There is a thread here at FW in the past 2 days about TaxCut Regular and Deduction Pro as a FREE download. I downloaded both the other day. So if you don't need TC Deluxe then just hunt up the thread.

easyrebates? link?

easy rebate

Has anyone tried placing more than one online order for the TaxCut Deluxe using the same 5-digit product-specific coupon code each time? I am not clear on whether or not those 5-digit product-specific codes can be used more than once by the same person (if they can, then they would have to be used on separate orders, of course).

easyrebates? link?

Ya can't get to there from here. Go to the Staples website, click on "rebate center" at the bottom left, and do a search on taxcut.

so the $5 off only works for the deluxe without state? that sucks if that's the case - those of us shafted with state taxes gotta pay more again

I heard of someone who tried it for different stuff around BF and got email from Staples telling him that if he did it again, he would be blacklisted.

Also, do the Staples gift checks behave like coupons? If so, this could be better than a refund because you'll save sales tax on the $15 when you spend it, making this TRULY FAR.

Also you should be able to get MS Money 2006 FAR with the purchase of Taxcut.

Shipping is free for Staples Rewards members. There is no charge to join. Personally, I think that if you EVER buy ANYTHING at Staples, you're foolish not to be a Rewards member.

Doesn't the "Free" version they sent you ( and me and thousands of others) require a payment to actually use the product according to the statement on the insert???????.
also the cpmparison chart does not list a deluxe version without state. ?????
http://www.staples.com/sbd/cre/products/perm/taxyr05software/taxcutchart.html

No mention of free e-filing with this non state version?

here's all 4 versions

If I buy this I guess I will just need to buy taxcut state for $9.99 separately. Does anyone know if you can do more than one state with the state program? If it limits you to one state how do you get to file for two states?

You buy an extra state.

BTW, you can get Money DELUXE FAR with this...

"heard of"... like a "friend," right? Billrubin, you're a grizzly veteran so i don't mean any disrespect

what I really was going to say: we need to come up with another acronym when something isn't exactly "FAR" like free gift card after rebate.

FGCAR. since it looks like the word "cigar" (i'm a mnemonics freak), that should help you remember that your gift card is equivilent to the amount of your purchase but it isn't cash.

"close, but no cigar."

FGCAR

You buy an extra state.

You must purchase the second state from with the program itself - you cannot buy another box version as there is no 'real' program on the CD anyway - it downloads the federal and chosen state program when you install.

Just to clarify

hth

at the bottom of this page you can buy federal deluxe without state - but it's not listed on the federal version purchase page. ???
edit - for those that the 'law' is catching up on - you can buy previous years back to 1992 here :)

vickh said: is the gift check an easyrebate or a mail in??

Giftcheck can be done as easy rebate or mail in.

slamjoe said:

No, "heard of" as in I read in another thread about someone who did multiple orders for the power strips (I think) that needed a 5 digit code on BF and only got one order and a nasty note. Not me, I didn't order a single one of those.

One off-topic question regarding Microsoft Money Deluxe 2006.
How is the rebate of Microsoft in terms of the speed and reliability ?
Thanks

My Staples said that they do not price match costco. is that right?

cyfan said: Nice deal. Remember that the deluxe version includes:

All I know is I clicked on the "compare versions" link on the Staples website and copied down what was interesting about the Deluxe version. In all previous years the state has been free after rebate, so it sounds different this year.

Will this work?

TaxCut Deluxe
$19.99 - $5.00 (coupon savings Enter coupon 36723 at checkout) - $15.00 (Staples Gift Check EASY REBATE 05-41300) = -$0.01
Print Perfect Deluxe
$19.99 - $20.00 (Staples EASY REBATE 05-41297) = -$0.01
Perfect Attorney Platinum
$19.99 - $20.00 (Staples EASY REBATE 05-41361) = -$0.01

All easy rebates. I know I can also get the Microsoft Money Deluxe for free after mail-in rebate or PM to target for $16.50 and make money. But don't feel like doing the $40 mail-in rebate.
