old scam but it does offer a hefty discount. they do verify enrollment, but could care less about what classes you're in.
interesting to see them randomly bump up clock speeds |

I know. What I mean is, do you have to click an affiliate link, submit a rebate w/ receipt or UPC, buy gift cards, coupon code etc. in order to get the 20%? |

There is a way to get Macbook Pro order to be shipped 1-3 days (instead of 3-4 weeks)? YMMV since it doesn't seem to change when I try to order.
Here is how (from Appleinsider). "While it very well could be a glitch in Apple's online store ordering system, tipsters note that custom-configuring a new 2.0GHz MacBook Pro with a 100GB Serial ATA drive @ 7200 rpm (add $100) shaves about three weeks off the estimated wait time. New orders for the MacBook Pro with the drive upgrade are now estimated by Apple to ship in 1-3 business days as opposed to 3-4 weeks for the standard configuration. Due to the way Apple assembles its production lines, there is a slim possibility these estimates are accurate. In a similar situation, observant customers learned over the holiday shopping season that ordering iPods with an engraving allowed them to bypass weeks of backorders for the same models that did not ship with an engraving (standard configurations). Update:Apple has since corrected this glitch. " |

$1999(with 2GHz, 1GB (512mbx2), 7200Hard Disk) + $99 = $2098+tax [*It's $2017 if you want only5400HD)
$1599(with 1.83GHz, 512mb, 5400HD) + $99 = $1698 +tax
I think 1.83GHz system is a better deal since it costs only $80 to get faster 7200 Hard drive (It costs $160 for 1.67GHz system , Let me know if you have any question
is the faster processor worth the $160-240 price difference between the two versions with a 7200 HD? Heres my math:
Cheapest configuration with a 7200HD: $1759(with 1.83GHz, 512mb, 7200HD) + $99 = $1858 +tax ~ $240 less than the 2.0 version..
Same memory as the cheapest 2.0 configuration with a 7200HD: $1839(with 1.83GHz, 1GB (512mbx2), 7200HD) + $99 = $1938 +tax ~ $160 less.. |

If you're looking at the specifications, you'll note that the 1.83 machine has the X1600 videocard, with 128mb of ram. The 2.0 has the same card, with double the ram, included in the price.
Worth it? I think so, at least. |

I am a University student, but I'm not in any computer classes and don't have a computer major. I'm going to send them a copy of my school ID and I am trying to think of something else that verifies my enrollment, but doesn't show them what classes I'm in. *Crosses fingers* Here goes nuthin.

I'm in a CS major, programming, but not currently enrolled in any tech classes -- still getting my general ed out of the way. They accepted a copy of my ID, and my class schedule as proof. (Humanities and Mathmathmatics.)
Send them your schedule, they really just want to make sure you're a student. YMMV, of course. |

I am only taking one research course and got approved. ADC just wants to see if you are "currently a student." Good Luck. |

Nice find, i've been looking into buying the MacBook Pro these few weeks and this is the best deal I found so far. I did some calculations on the side and the 20% discount is decent.
Student Discount: Duo 2ghz + tax(CA=8.5%) = 2299 + 195.42 = 2494.42
ADC: Duo 2ghz + tax + ADC Membership = 1999.2 + 169.93 + 99 = 2268.13
Difference = $226.29
---------------------
Is the 7200rpm hd gonna really have a noticable impact on performance? It seems like it's rather cheaper to sell the original hd and get the 7200 on eBay w/o spending 100 dollars.
----------
From ADC Site: "The information will be used to confirm active student status only. Your account will be on hold until your student status is verified."
I'm guessing from that, they mean you don't have to be a comp sci major to receive this ADC discount. |

Don't forget $100 rebate from buying a qualifying printer. Buy $100 printer and eBay it off to get some money back. Both printer and laptop purchases do have to be on the same receipt.

I want to ask a stupid question~~If I want to buy a macbook pro with 20% off,should I have to pay for $2268.13 or just $2098 at last? There are formulas: Duo 2ghz + tax + ADC Membership = 1999.2 + 169.93 + 99 = 2268.13 Duo 2ghz + ADC Membership = 1999.2 + 99 = 2098.2 than you ~~~ |

Wow, why didn't just ask if you had to pay tax?
Yes, I think apple charges tax in most, if not all, states. |
