PS I forgot to add that, had they not honored the 20% off coupon, I could have gotten 10% off for applying for a Home Depot credit card thru 1/29/06. Could be YMMV on the 10% deal, though, as I don't think I have seen that mentioned elsewhere. You only have to apply for the credit card by 1/29, then the 10% off is valid when you use the card the first time- which must be within 14 days from approval.

As of 1-27-06, the Flemington, NJ Home Depot had about 30 outside of the store, of all types. All beneath a sign saying 33% off.

Only 20% off in Pa HD.

He was really happy to see the 33% off price of $667 today, and on top of that he downloaded the 20% off coupon, printed on a low-quality printer in BLACK AND WHITE and they honored that. His price was $534 plus tax! They asked him where he got the coupon, and he said he downloaded it from the internet. They didn't have any problem with it at all. I think they were happy to get rid of another unit. This is the warmest January on record here, no snow for the past month and January is usually the worst month for snow.

where did he download the 20% coupon? I could use one.

Just got a Toro CCR 2450 (got good reviews just about everywhere). It was originally $554 and was $369 on sale. The sale ones are already assembled so I felt even better that I didn't have to pay the $15 for them to assemble it. Then as we walked out the door, my wife asked if I had any gift cards or coupons. I realized I had a 10% off coupon in my wallet and turned right around. Went to the returns counter with the receipt and coupon and the nice lady gave me a refund then rang it up with the addtl 10% for a total price of $332.10. Cool!

I feel pretty good about this one...either it will finally start snowing in the Cleveland area this season or I've just guaranteed there won't be any more snow. I've been looking for one on sale late in the season for about 3 years now...but I was always too late. I guess I can be glad for the lack of snow this year making a lot of excess inventory around here.

BTW...in Streetsboro, OH, they had about 4 of each model on the floor in the morning and by afternoon, only two (including mine) had been sold.

Thanks OP!!

Thanks OP! I got the last Yard Machine 163-541 in Warrington, PA store $266.00 minus 20% coupon = $212.80 plus tax...guaranteed not to snow in SE PA the rest of the season since I finally broke down and purchased a snow thrower!

I don't know if this against the "rules", but try this link:

Just bought the same one myself It's supposed to snow Tuesday, so we'll see what happens! I'm hoping for a lot of snow, so I can play with the new toy, and take the kid out in the snow (he's 20 months old, just old enough now to have fun out there!)

Cant beat nearly 50% off. I'm holding onto my receipt, because you can be sure these will drop again in price. I'd say in 2 weeks or so they'll be 50% off. I have another 20% off coupon, and with that I can return/rebuy and save another $50 or so.

They had several models in stock at the Lansing, MI store. 33% off...they wouldn't take the 20% off coupon that I printed off the net (and linked in my previous post). They did say that I have up to 30 days to get a price refund (if the price goes lower or I can find a "real" coupon). eBay here I come!

No hurricane shutters to be found here in Cleveland...

LOL to both of you. Still L-ing.

My local Home Depot had at least 25 snow blowers at 33% off.

Thanks OP!

The Home Depot in Buffalo area have them for 33% off as well. If you wait longer they will have them on clearance. I picked up an 5.5 HP (4 stroke) 2 stage, 6 FWD/2 Reverse speed, electric start Ariens last April for $350 or so. I only got to use it once this year. Worst winter ever. Buffalo is supposed to get snow, not rain. I was cleaning my car in my sweater last night, in the middle of January!!! I think I may have to mow the lawn next week if the weather persists. There is not even an hint of snow on the ground.

I could not get this link to open the coupon (either the full coupon was not there or the server is being blasted). Any other sources? I opened the other link, but need to propersize for the coupon. Thanks!

nm. figured it out.

I got the 5.5 Horsepower single stage snow thrower in Waukegan, IL after checking two other Home Depot's and striking out. (there are about 5 left at this store) The sign says 20% off but they are using the 33% off prices. I used a Lowe's 10% off coupon I printed off the net with no problems plus 1% for using my Discover card making it a sweeeeet deal!

Thank you OP!!!

Thanks for the 20% coupon. Snow Blowers dropped today to 33% off and they also took my 20% off coupon that I printed from the above post.

Got the 8HP Yard Machine with electric start, 6 forward/2 reverse speeds for $397 assembled out the door.

Very Happy camper here in Pa even though it was 55 degrees today.

Come on SNOW!!!

Green to OP! Last night, I bought an original 20% off coupon from a reputable eBay seller. Tonight I drove by my local HD store (Wisconsin) and saw a bunch of the big blowers for 33% off. As soon as I get my coupon, I'm heading over to the store and purchasing a new snowblower. They had Ariens and Toro units in stock, in the 8 to 10 HP range.

chbuzz said: [Q]good luck getting the approval/management to ok the 20% off..stacked on the 33% off.. it will be hit and miss for sure!

I used a 20% coupon yesterday on a floor model fridge (really an open box cancelled special order). Retail was $1499, HD price $1299, marked down twice to $1099 then $999, mine for $799.20.

All that to say, the only YMMV is whether or not they will take it (depends on who you get) not whether they will take it on any particular item.

On the snowblower front here in the NE Mass/S NH stores I went to ISO a decent fridge on floor model clearance, most of the ones I saw were the BIG Ariens models 10+HP and 32"+ clearing width, total freaking overkill for most folks . . . though I was very tempted by an Ariens 9hp 28" model (I think there were three in the Methuen (near The Loop) store.

With the prices where they are, I'd stay away from the 'Murray' Models, though the HD Ariens models are not the best Ariens makes, the Murray is the same MTD crapola they sell everywhere except reputable power equipment dealers . . . the Tecumseh snow-king motor will far outlast the chassis and drivetrain on those units.

Green!

I'm wondering if they'll mark them down even further. I've checked my local forecasts and there's no snow for the foreseeable future here in PA.

I was just in HD today, but negleclected to look at the snowblowers figuring it was too early for them to be on sale. Should have known better as I saw KMart advertizing swimsuits this week! Will try the coupon first thing tomorrow.

Thanks OP

I'm sure they'll hit 50% off soon. And HD has a 20 day return policy, so if and when they hit 50% off I'll be taking my receipt in for a return/rebuy. I'll prob need another 20% off coupon though, unless I can talk the manager into giving me the same discount.

Is it a 20-day return policy or 30-day? The guy at my HD said 30 days...

Thanks

30, I typoed that.

So, any luck in the MI stores? I keep forgetting to go, but sometime this week I'm sure. I could use one for next year for sure.

Sure doesnt look like I'll be using mine THIS year at any rate

Now, I could be missing it, but after checking with 5 stores in my area (southern Maine) the discount at these stores (supposedly nationwide by Corporate) is UP TO 30%. Mid-sized Ariens seem about 17-18% discount. Seems like a YMMV would be appropriate.

I was at the Somerville, MA store this evening . . . 33% across the board, with several Ariens 26-32" models in stock, perhaps up your way they have held back due to the harsher climate.

All kidding aside, if you need one, call down to the NH stores and ask what they have in stock and at what discount. Portsmouth, North Hampton, Somersworth, Seabrook, Rochester, Plaistow, or Salem should be in your neck of the woods, and they are also tax-free!

Yes, I think it's the climate! (LMAO) Seems like if I want to go snowmobiling lately, I have to put them on the trailer and go South. NH isn't far so a couple phone calls might be in order. Thanks.

I was at the Columbia, MD store yesterday . . . 33% across the board.

I went to my local HD tonight with 20% certificate in hand. A Toro 826LE (8 HP, 26" in) was marked $679. They gave me 33% off, but would not stack the 20% off coupon. Beware. The sales guy said it wouldn't work in the computer. My final price, after tax, was $469.35. This is a really good price on this snowblower (typically this blower runs around $900).

I'm happy, but would've loved the extra 20% off.

Beware the Ariens with the "pin lock" wheels. Other brands may be similar.

These are darned near impossible to steer with both pins engaged. Feel like a bear trying to wrestle it around the driveway.

Tempted to take it back...

I imagine here in minnesota the things will be on the "we pay you to take them away" pricing system soon. This many years in a row of weak winters has totally killed the snow related items market, especially the snowmobile one.

Ive entertained buying a thrower in the late/post winter sales several times over the past few years, but then I just cant see the point when I only have to shovel my driveway a handful of times each year, and its not even hard.

We tend to have 1-2 of those wet heavy shoveling days, takes me a good couple hours on those days, but otherwise it's all quick and easy for the most part, 30-60 minutes worth. My driveway isnt that small either, typical suburban length but a little over 3 cars wide.

I could very well see one though if I was old and there was no neighbor kids around.

I'd be surprised if many stores were willing to stack a couple of discounts. That would be selling below cost for sure, and on a big ticket item to boot.

The cashier lied to you. Nowhere on the coupon does it say it doesnt apply to sale merchandise. I used the coupon for mine, and for one for a friend's grandfather.

I'd complain to a manager.

I complained to managers at 2 stores and got the same story as well. They both pointed out that the coupons specifically read "This offer not valid on the purchase of gift cards or certificates, with any other discounts, or on prior purchases." They specifically foucsed on the 20% and now 33% as considered already a discount. I certainly wish I could have used the 10% or 20% coupons I had. The one store went so far as to tell me they have a bulletin not to accept them and that someone was fired for accepting in error.

How could you get it for $469? $679 was the discounted price already. The original price of the Toro 826LE was $999.

My coupon also says (in small print) "This offer is not valid on purchase of gift cards or certificates, with any other discounts, or on prior purchases". The person helping me was a manager of some sort, and he right away said "no double dipping". He then read the coupon and appeared to try using it (I doubt that he actually did try).

The extra discount is definitely a YMMV, but the deal is definitely good enough for a strong GREEN for the OP!

Interesting... The night before I stopped in and the salesperson told me the marked price was already discounted. Tonight, right after they didn't accept my 20% coupon they gave me the $469 total.

I guess I did better than the 20% coupon. I have to pick the blower up yet, I hope they don't give me a hard time when I pick it up!

That "with any other discounts" is their cheap way to get out of giving you the coupon. Thats not meant to deny you from using it on a clearance item. I used my coupon without a problem, so that "the computer wont allow it" is a load of crap.

The 'not with other discounts' is meant to keep you from using it with other coupons and the like.

It appears that the coupon IS YMMV as shown by the jerk managers who denied the FW members here, but i'd say it's a low chance of being denied. I've been shopping at HD for years using coupons and have NEVER been denied the coupon when buying clearance/sale items.

In fact, in the last month, I bought a snowblower with a 20% off, 2 compound slide mitre saws on clearance for $69 from $129 at w/20% off, and a cordless mitre saw on clearance for $39 w/10% off.

Last month I was able to use a coupon when purchasing the Senco Nailer kits on clearence without a problem, so it depends who is at the checkout and head cashier for sure.
