Cool, I didn't know they were actually a restaurant chain. I only heard of Marie Callender's from those (quite good) frozen dinners.

If I remember correctly, if you take in multiple pie tins, the price will be reduced by xx cents each tin. SO, if you have a pile of MC tins around, you might be able to lower the price significantly.

That's exactly right! I've done this once and they have no problem with it. They told me that the maximum tins they'll take at any one time is 10 though.

You pay a 50 cent deposit (in San Jose area at least) per pie for the tins as noted in the title. So you're just getting your deposit back when you turn them in.

How adout almost FREE after pie tins, this is how it can be done...
Buy your pies in Auburn CA where you pay no tin deposit.
Once you've gotten 10 tins truck on down to Sacramento CA and apply them towards your purchase at 50 cents each.
Assume driving a Civic (about 33 MPG): 1 gallon of gas (about $2.5)
Experience of getting an almost-free pie: PRICELESS
hehehehe
(Perhaps we should open a new topic about MC places with free tins. I wonder if there's any around my house... )

mmm pie. I think this applies to their Boston Cream pie too, which really isn't a pie, it's more like cake. pie > cake

i've never had their pies...i've only had pie 3 times in the past 15 years...and the latest time was this past halloween, when someone from work bought pumpkin pie from krogers.

I like their peach pie, chocolate satin, and Kahlua cream cheese (but I'm not sure if it qualifies; it did in the past).

Anyone know if this just started or if it's over today?
I think they are usually on a monthly basis...I'm hoping it's good thru Feb!
Love me some pee-can pie.

They do have great frozen dinners. Boston Market's are good too, but not as good. About 10-12 years ago I went to a Marie Calendar's restaurant not far from my house and was a little disappointed, not in the food, but because the place was so tiny and jam packed, you had this tiny little table and 4 tiny chairs jammed around it. I'm not very tall but I felt like a giant.

It's pretty regular. Normally Feb and Sept/Oct(?), all month. Always has been twice a year in my area's MCs.

Went to my local Seal Beach MC with family and friends and was surprised to see that on Weds night there was a wait to be seated. I overheard someone asking the hostess why it was so busy, was it the pie sale? She said that it was Wine Weds. The man who had asked nodded knowingly. So I went up and asked what Wine Weds was? Half price bottles of wine with dinner! YMMV
So my group enjoyed a bottle of wine with dinner, then ordered two pies to go at the discounted $4.99 each. Then we got the bill and I grabbed it to check and make sure they had discounted properly. They had forgotten to charge us for the pies, but had given us a $1 discount on each pie anyway. Wanting to be a good influence on the kids, my husband took the bill up to the front and told them it was wrong. After 5 minutes of the manager and the waitress muttering, the manager thanked my husband for pointing it out and said she would just leave it. So they paid us $2 to take two pies. Can't beat that deal!
Oh, and no tin deposit!
