The GC offer is in the Micro Center flier. The cashier probably won't know to give it to you without prompting, but when a $10 gift card is added to your total, $10 is automatically taken off the price of TaxCut.

The other $30 rebate is mentioned on the Money box, and can be submitted by going to Text.

The cashier got totally confused when trying to ring this up with the $10 GC (which I had to tell him about). He had the manager come over and take an additional $10 off...for what reason I don't know. But I ended up getting this deal for -$10 + $10 GC!!! Looks like I picked the right line to go in.

It's in their hard copy flyer - last page and also inside on the s/w page toward the back. When I bought this Friday afternoon, the cashier didn't give me a card and I didn't notice it was missing. Returned everything today and rebought. Added a $10 GC and $10 automatically came off the price of the tax s/w.

I was tempted to buy the tax software on the 256 USB key drive but since the $10 GC didn't apply to that version, the cost of the drive would have been $20 since this deal is -$10.

do people really use tax software? is it better or equal to an accountant?

All the program is trying to tell you is that it can't connect to the internet. Try using internet explorer (I.E.) to make sure you are connected to the internet. If I.E. can connect then go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections (Tab) --> Lan Settings... Here you might find any proxy setting your computer has. You'll probably have to configure these in your Tax software. View the help of the Tax software to see where this is configured.
