another sams club deal.

its a good deal but if your sams does not have it on sale good luck getting it for that price even with a reciept and a note from God.....

not to hijack the thread, but if you are looking for led flashlights, don't think there is any better deal than axshop.com. Figure 2 weeks for shipping, but at the shipping charges they have I don't mind waiting an extra week. The 1 watt luxeon for about $9 is as bright as a 4 d cell krypton bulb flashlight. I love sam's but axshop means NO special trip to a B&M and no membership fees!

Its $10.50, not $9

From past threads/posts regarding quality of products and customer service, I will never buy anything from that store.
Also, they use knockoff luxeon led's and overdrive them.

If you want a good quality LED light, pay $23 and get the Streamlight from fox-intl (http://www.fox-intl.com/searchresult.asp?id=3034) or one of the Dorcys clearanced at Target.

Buy at axshop at your own risk.

Comparing the (ha)ax-shop fake "1W Luxexon"(hardly even a clone) to the Sam's elements:
The elements are MUCH better... made by Dorcy, real Luxeon 1W (sometimes R-bins). The ax 1W is about half the output and half the throw of the element.

I agree with ChoppedBroccoli.
If you buy from Sam's and you have problems, good luck to you. They are NOT COSTCO and do not willingly refund you. Sams will try to find a way not to refund you or give you a hard time. Also remember to save your receipt or there WILL be a problem.

I love Axshop, Sure the shipping times are terrible, but I always get everything.. I got a 3 Watt from them that nobody can deny is as good or better than most out there at a fraction of the cost. Also, what exactly is a "Knockoff" LED? SO, a toyota is a knockoff mazda?? You don't know what you are talking about. When stupid people try to sound intelligent it just hurts my ears!

No regulation (30 minutes to 50%), no collimating lens. Won't stop me from picking a couple up though.

I have some and they work well. I bought 2 packs and the second one was not up to my liking I had no problems returning them for a refund.

You have to be out of your mind. I've brought back all kinds of things, and sams has a great return policy. No day limits - just keep the receipt, something you should be doing anyway.

I brought back a garden hose I purchased a year earlier, and they gave me no trouble at all - even though it was a seasonal item that they had long stopped selling....

Maybe try a different sams store?

Never had a problem with Sams, just like WalMart. You should always keep your receipt anyway, so what's the point?

You must have a horrible management team at your local club.
We have purchased and returned with or without receipts at various Sam's Clubs in our region (N.E. Pa) without any problem whatsoever. Depending on receipt availability we received either a refund or a gift card. If you care to shop at Sam's if this return problem you are having went away...contact Sam's corporate and tell them about the shoddy customer service at that club!

I am not sure all Sam's Clubs have dropped the price on these, but I haven't seen a better light for the price. I like the size and brightness and the fact it uses 3XAAA regular batteries.

Bought 4 of these when they were 24.99 per 2pk. Great lights, the 3-AAA's is the best part. I carry a lithium powered one on my uniform, bright light but breaks you up cost wise. Also the Sam's in my area a great on returns or problems. Never a hassle, unless maybe you abuse it

Yes, our local club had gotten a new manager who screens returns and wants to give members a hard time about returns. Our club was great with absolutely no problems until this management took over. He has some nasty cs and returns people who work hand in hand with him. I have gone to other Sams clubs and they do not give you a hassle about any returns-receipt or not. It is very seldom that I lose a receipt and when I do, they give you attitude and grief. I have reported them and management is even nastier now. Be thankful that you are in Pa or other areas. I wouldn't wish these people on my worst enemies.

Good find

I used to have these (before I gave them to my dad) and these are great and I would recommend these to anyone looking for a economical good 1W light. the ones i baught for replacement use the more expensive batteries, so if my club drops prices on these, I would be picking one up. thanks OP.

You must have gone deaf asking "What exactly is a "Knockoff" LED?" A knockoff LED is an inferior counterfeit or poorly made clone Luxeon LED. The ax-shop sells a 1W "Luxeon" that hardly outputs half of a decent Luxeon I. As far as you statement about "...got a 3 Watt from them that nobody can deny is as good or better than most out there..." -->that is just flashlight flamebait.

see Surefire
see Pelican
see Peak.
see Orb

Yes , your ax shop special is a fraction of the cost; and, a fraction of the quality of those listed above.

And yes, I would put the OP's element up against your 3W knockoff ax special. At $10 per element it is already lower priced. And, it is almost guaranteed to be equal-to/better quality and performance.

i guess this is a YMMV because i went to the el monte store in california and i bought two elements but the price was still $24. good find if u can find it at your store, they do have some cyclops xenon lights at 2 for 20 bux so maybe you guys mught like that...

could you please educate me on the differences between R-bin luxeon LEDs and other LEDs? It seems that you know far more than any of us here.

UPDATE:

thanks for the PM posion7fl. Apparently poison7fl was wrong...here is what he(she?) sent me in a PM:

poison7FL said:

Oh silly me. I can't believe I made that post. I look especially stupid considering the first result on a google search for "r bin luxeon" takes you to this page, which on the bottom of the page explains the following:

Luxeon products are 'binned' according to manufacturing variations in flux output, forward voltage drop and color. An R-bin component has an output in the range of 39.8 to 51.7 lumens. You can find out more information in their Application Brief AB21.

So it seems that I, poison7fl, not you, ChoppedBroccoli, am the one who fits the following description:

You don't know what you are talking about. When stupid people try to sound intelligent it just hurts my ears!

Which is funny because I originally accused you, ChoppedBroccoli, of being stupid, when in reality it was I, poison7fl, that was the stupid one.

Anyway my apologies.

Thanks for the PM poison7fl, it was very nice of you to step forward and point out all the errors in your previous post, with such informative links that back up your claims. Most people on the internet don't have the humility to admit a mistake and fess up. But you, poison7fl, are different. You are a class act. And thats why I like you.

OK so I admit it, the post above is entirely fictional. poison7fl never PMed me, I just wrote that to hopefully give some of you a laugh.

Just for clarification, as I did not intend to start something...

I have never shopped at Sam's, so I do not know their return policy. My post was not to threadcrap, instead it was in response to an eariler post and I was simply trying to give warning to people thinking of buying alternatives from axshop.

P.S. ax-shop is now offering "free shipping" but raised all their prices to higher out-the-door levels than before (w/shipping)

Here is ONE problem I have with Sam's (return policy). Wanna return with no receipt? They will do it but they will give you store credit. No problem there.

And they require your Sam's card. No problem there either.

Then they say they want to see your DL? BS! Once you present your Sam's card (BTW: when you get a Sam's card, you must provide your DL and they enter your DL# in their database) and that should be enough.

The attitude in Costco is customer is king. The attitude in Sam's is customer is dirt and a thief.

These ARE great lights for the price.

I have several Streamlights, several Elements, and several River Rocks. The switches on these Elements are fabulous, some kinda electronic switch. The switches on my Rover Rocks suck (someone said there are "reverse" switches. How dumb!). Streamlights are so so.
