Two months ago, I purchased Uniden TRU8865-2 5.8GHz (this includes an extra handset) for less than $90 total and I am happy so far.
My previous 2 year old Panasonic 2.4GHz phone is so junky that does not even hold a charge any more for more than 1 minute after extremely difficulty to place the phone into the base in order to have the handset charged overnight.
