Here we go again! Good topic and someone will complain about guns on here and it will be gone!

so let's hurry <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border=0> What's a good place to get one of those then?

WalMart usually has good prices on shotguns , shotgun ammo and 22 ammo. When I had my store (10 years ago), unless I bought a truckload,it was cheaper for me to go to WalMart or Kmart for those items.

Got it thanks, but ~$600 is not in my price range for a shotgun.

I need a shotgun for home defense so I've been considering a Winchester Defender 1300, Big5 usually has them for ~$280 or they have the mosberg for ~ $220....

I have a mossberg, and I like it. It works when I do what I'm supposed to do.

<insert Cheney joke here>

lol i love these shotgun rebates along with beer rebates. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border=0>

I don't need one...but nice find/post.

Mossberg is my preference. There was a Navy study in the past where the Mossberg 500 series passed with flying colors. They are great in jam resistance.

You can kiss this posting good bye

You guys are paranoid. This is America.Noboby is going to censor a legal topic just because some people don't like hunting. That's like complaining about a topic on cars because some people drive cars that are a color you don't like.

green for op. love gun and cigar.

Thanks OP. I've had an 11-87 for about 10 years and love it. I use it for trap mostly. I know someone about to buy one, do you know what turkey camo is? Is it typical green camo or can you buy the all-black/synthetic stock and qualify for the rebate?

There is a guy around here who sells reloading stuff mostly as a hobby, he can order guns too and only charges 1% over his cost plus tax and shipping. It is surprising how close WalMart is to his price on some of the $200 price guns, within $10 usually. He told me that WalMart gets the guns cheaper than his wholesaler can because they buy so many.

It's not that, it's because some people usually turn the thread into an anti gun off topic political thread which causes the mods to nuke it.

I've been on the fence about buying my first shotgun.

Maybe I will head down to my local WalMart and see what they have in stock.

The 11-87 Sportsman I purchased was a 12G 28" Mossy Oak Break up Camo w/ single ball sight; it was on sale at WalMart for $498.97 (UPC 0 47700 29895 5). I could only find the Black Synthetic stock model on the website.

I do not believe the Black Synthetic stock model will qualify for the rebate, must be a camo model.

this time is good to go to WalMart, they will except all returns and being after much of hunting season. guns are send out to be verified sellable then resold. I bought a remington 1187 premier for 250 that was a returned gun has worked great, note this was about three four years ago. it had the bird barrel and three chokes. they had a 1187 deer barrel rifled choke SP for 50, didnt match being sp but used it until I bought a fully rifled barrel last season with cantalevel sight arm that was returned for 140 dollars. I have bought around a dozen guns from then this way. a

I just bought my first gun last year. A remington 870. Use it to shoot clays and love it.

I'm looking at a Remington 700 bolt action 270 they have at WalMart on clearance for $299. Seems like a good price to me. The local sporting goods store has the same gun with a cheap tasco scope on it for $420. Anyone have any thoughts? This would be my first rifle. I'd probably use it for the range only. Thanks!

$299.00 is a good deal. I have a Remington 700 in .30-06 and I like it.

Based on what I've seen I thought it was a good deal. Thanks stevemark.

Just buy a glock and then alter it to be fully automatic like this one :-D

Another place to look for a deal is Shotgun News. You have to have a FFL to order, but do a search and you will likely find someone local who will take delivery for you at cost plus a fee of $15 - 45.

Green for you on the Hevi•Shot rebate. 5 weeks till turkey season and I was going to pickup a
couple different loads to test the groupings with my new X-Full choke. Thanks!

Most "good" gun dealers will try to match ***mart prices. From my past expereice they can usually get within 5-6% and will throw in some extras and are much, much more knowlegeable. Support the little guy.

I got a Remington Marine Magnum (which is a nickel finished 870 with some other factory mods to harden it against harsh environments) to replace my Mossberg 500 3+ years ago. The mossberg is ok as a basic shotgun, but pick up an 870 and a 500, shake each one. The 500 rattles like a box of nails, while the 870 is silent - it just seems like the Remingtons are made better. I still have my 500, but really really love my Marine Mag.

I had been looking at this 1187 deer rifled barrel for about 1.5 years, my local store wanted 340 for the barrel, WalMart wanted 220, I found the barrel as a return from WalMart after deer season. i didnt try to PM the WalMart price with the little guy but 120 bucks more? and WalMart give the same warranty on returned guns, no question asked. I am having more trouble supporting me.

I do like to support the little guy so I plan to ask him to come down. But we're talking $120 price difference ($100 after taking the scope into account). If he can come within $50 I'll probably go with the sporting goods store. Thanks for the advice.

By the way, this will be my first rifle. If I shoot say, a pigeon with a .270 will there be anything left?

That has a stainless steel barrel, doesn't it? I've been considering getting a marine version of a tactical shotgun, but none of my local dealers has one in stock for me to drool over before deciding whether or not to go for it (they're more than twice as expensive as a regular one)...

and a big heads up to mr. cheney!?hehe!and here's a tip!the heavy shot really goes well with coors!and as a safety measure, please review the legal "turkey" silhouettes before leaving the clubhouse!hehe!

It has a hard nickel finish, better than SS. I LOVE my Marine Mag. It was ~$470 from my dealer, who had to special order it. I would suggest you check out AuctionArms, Gunbroker or GunsAmerica for a really good deal, and do the transfer through your dealer (it is really easy).

I have a Remington Model 760 (pump) 270 caliber. Great gun and good price...

I have a Mossberg 500 Special Purpose Persuader which I got for $275 at a local gun store. It's a pump-action tactical shotgun, same used by military and police. All black/blued finish and has a short 18.5" barrel and no choke for using in tight quarters like inside your home. In many states, the barrel of a shotgun must be longer than 18" to be legal. Another fine home defense shotgun choice is the Remington 870.

The Mossberg 500's are nice, as they are very interchangeable. I can swap in a 28" barrel and screw in a choke on my home defense gun, and now I can go shoot skeet. My 500 Persuader also included a pistol grip kit to swap out the shoulder stock for a pistol grip like you see SWAT using.

$299 for the 700 is not bad at all. Been shopping around myself, and will look into WalMart for that. I looked at a 710 as well, but really didn't like the feel of the molding.

Meanwhile, this is a cool deal for a shotty. If only it applies to their rifles.

Weird, the rebate goes to 2600 Pennsylvania Ave! Don't think I'm going to stick my neck out for this one.

GOOD DEAL OP! Green for you. If I didn't already have a mossberg 500 I'd think about it. I'd probably look funny at the trap or skeet range with my 20" barrel though <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border=0>

Lexington001,
If you're not going to be hunting with it you'd be better served to buy something in either .223 or .308 so you can get cheap ammo for it. But it all depends on your wants, needs, and likes. If you live in a free state you should purhcase an AR-15. They're very inexpensive for one of the worlds finest rifles.
I don't think any Walmarts in California carry firearms (long or short) anymore. I recall about a year ago the 2 or 3 I frequent "re-organized" and their gun cases went away or were only left with high power pellet rifles. I think they got in trouble with the DOJ because they had idiots working the counters.

$299 AR for the 870 turkey camo @ WalMart.com seems like a good price.

Same price for the 870 youth model as well.

Beg to differ....Fatwallet is owned by a private company they delete whatever they please. Case in point, try you favorite four letter word in this forum and see what happens. Of course you can exercise your right to take your hot deals elsewhere and when the hit rates fall and the ads dry up they would come around.

I've been modded a couple of times for responding to LIBS rants in other posts. I wish they would remove posts on both sides. Cause of I get modded again and the PETA lovers aren't, I'M GONE.

Does anyone know where to buy really cheap 22 ammo in CA? WalMart doesn't sell guns anymore and only shotgun shells.

Can't go wrong with a 700...Also, check out a Winchester Model 70.
My preference is the Ruger M77 Mark II .270 (this one is available for left handers)
