I bought several drives from quite a few of these outpo5t threads. Every single drive I bought (that wasn't Seagate) came with a 1 year warrantee. That in itself is not so bad. The real disturbing thing is that when I looked up the serial numbers on the mfg.'s website, the warrantee expiration dates were only a couple of months away. Does anyone have the same experience? Will the hd manufacturers honor the 1 year warrantee without a hassle? Make sure you hold onto your receipts folks!
That how the manufactures do it these days. Unless you have a receipt or some sort of proof when the HDD was purchased then the warranty begins on the date the serial number shows it was manufactured. So theoretically, yuo could buy a drive today htat could be out of warranty unless you saved the receipt. I had a drive crap out 6 months after I bought it, but since I didn't save the receipt I was hosed. I really miss the old days of three and five year warranties without all the finickiness.
