yeah...that's what i want to know tooo....anyone??
yes, this phone is for the young and the hip only. Office junkies need not apply. Ok seriously, phonescoop.com said that this phone is more suited for young people.
how about nokia 6061 $40...i want a flip phone
from the pictures on phonescoop, the 6061 doesn't look childish at all. Check it out yourself here |

The 3220 is pretty nice looking, although somewhat colorful. The 6061 is basically ... whatever ...
The 3220 is also a better phone. If you insist on plain vanilla (or a flip phone), go with the 6061. All others are better off with the 3220.

I use ALLTEL. Can any of these phones be used with that cell carrier?
I need a new phone -- mine will soon celebrate its 4th birthday! All the phones that are reliable (according to my online research) at the ALLTEL store are outrageously expensive
Also, does anyone know how much ALLTEL charges to unlock a phone?
Thanks so much!

ajny said:Here is some unlock info I could dig up so far:
1. Nokia 3220 is a DCT4 phone. (Per this website) 2. Country/ Operator should be "Cingular/ Pacific Bell"
..looks like once we have the phones we can try this and hopefully it should work. Remember folks- you have 5 retries before the phone gets locked, after which you need to use a USB cable to unlock it.
I did the Cingular 3120 deal last year (where they gave away phones for free), as far as I can recall, it was very similar to this.
================================================================
Here is the summary from the original thread- This info was for Nokia 3120 not the 3220 which is availabe here. Info provided just for reference.
=================================================================
Stuff from original thread:
For everyone who will actually use this phone, Don't drop it! Buy a case!. My fiancee dropped two of these phones from a very short distance and the screen completely went out -- this will be the third try I've never had worse than a ding in the plastic from a drop. . . this phone seems to be very sensitive. -- AReed67

UNLOCK INFORMATION
Unlock the phone: http://unlock.nokiafree.org/
Do it youself instructions for unlocking the Nokia 3120 (Thanks to bangis! I have editted and expanded what he posted, but all of his directions still stand. stevek8455) go to the above site click Download download, unzip, and install the v3.10 calculator run the program click the option button check expert box then click back (now the fun part) cellphone select = nokia model select = 3120(RH-19)(don't worry if yours is a RH-50, it won't make a difference) enter your phone's IMEI number (you can find the IMEI under the battery, or by pressing *#06#) country select = USA provider select = Cingular - pacific bell MCC+MNC: =(auto generated) select (Asic 2) (now the important part in order to generate the correct code) for Gen you must select (Custom) and type the value (32835) then click Calculate. You will see bunch of code on the right side just like below
Important! Don't try codes 2-6, you only get 5 tries to unlock your phone. If neither 1 or 7 works, try the below sites.
(don't use these, they are just examples) #pw+809261027715416+1# <------try code #1 first #pw+016403430467154+2# #pw+292015214003264+3# #pw+082083607043334+4# #pw+017283137575431+5# #pw+342716166060662+6# #pw+346896363401045+7# <------ if code #1 doesn't work, try #7 next. remove the sim-card power on the phone enter the code as it is with all the charactes (to get p w and + hit the asterik (*) key several times) double check the code before pressing the final # key
Please post your success or failure using these directions.
Update - I just received my phone. I used the v3.10 calculator for which bangis provided instructions. I copied down code 1 that was generated. Just to make sure I had the correct code, I went to the http://www.unlocknokia.us site. I registered and posted my request. In just 5 minutes a moderator named etowah replied with the same code. I used the code that both had generated and successfully unlocked my phone. stevek8455
Update #2 - Good news. Many people have reported success using the above directions. No one has reported a failure. stevek8455
Those of you that unlocked your phone and are using it on another network might consider PMing your PIN number to someone that could use it.
1st code woked for me...Thanks.
http://www.unlocknokia.us/ The moderators at this site will calculate the code for you. Post your request in the Nokia 3120 thread.
In case the above sites (only for 3100) don't work, try post a request in this forum - http://unlockme.co.uk/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=2 The forum moderator there will provide you the unlock code.
If you see "can not undo restriction," then your phone has been hard locked. See here for more information.

Check order status
========================================================================================== placed three orders in 10 minutes around 4am using two different CC's for the first (2 phones) and the third (3 phone), and a virtual CC# for the second (4 phones). Now both the first and the third got partially shipped via Fedex with tracking #, but the second order was shot down.

This tri-band Nokia 3120 has the lowest frequency of 850 design mostly for North America Vs 900 in European 3120 model. So need to look for countries that offer pre-paid in the 1800/1900 frequencies beside the 900.
Software from Nokia: Link. ========================================================================== Just to confirm with everyone that has the 3120 with the IMEI that starts with 353, your phone is already unlocked. 99% of 355's are locked and 99% of 356's are locked. If you would rather not download the software and try to unlock your phone yourself, feel free to visit our unlocking site and we will be glad to help you. We also unlock other model #'s for Nokia GSM type phones, not just 3120. If you would like help with your GPRS settings, Adam will be glad to help you with this also. Nokia Phone Questions would be the thread to choose for any other questions not concearning unlocking.

Don't have time now to explain step by step changes but basically you have to change the wap setting to goto tmobile not Cingular. Here are the correct setting from hward forums. They can be found under the services->settings menu

Scroll down and select Edit active service setting
Rename to Wap (or whatever you want to call it)

KwadGuy said:Yeah, you can use a single band 1900Mhz phone in the US, too, but reception/functionality will suck compared to a proper dual band phone. Same thing applies to most other countries. Unless your country ONLY uses 1800mhz, it's stupid to buy this phone. Get a cheapo low end phone from the country you wish to use it in instead.

So I'm another cell-boo'ing landliner... but I'm going to be travelling this summer for a few months, and need a phone for just those months. I'm thinking of getting a pre-paid so I don't have to sign a year contract. Would any of these be decent for that? Or should I stick with the sort you buy at Wa1mart, etc.? |

I just want to double check what I read. I have an older Nokia 8260 with current/active Cingular service. Can I buy the Nokia 3220 and use it with my existing Cingular service? From what I read it sounds like all I need to do is swap the 'sim' card from my Nokia 8260 into the Nokia 3220? Is swapping the 'sim' cards easy and will my n8260 'sim' card be compatible with the n3220? I dont even think I have to notify Cingular about this change? TIA!! |

No. Your 8260 is on older TDMA service and does not have a SIM card. These are newer GSM phones and are not compatible. |

Thanks ... hmmm, in the mean time I was trying to find the 'sim' card on my 8260. It's not mentioned in the Users Guide and I am having a hard time finding it.
