I do CompUSA PM before rebate all the time even use the same CSR. I did the 100GB and 160GB and 200GB, just received the rebates. Green for you OP. Sorry if you don't got a Fry's in your area.
I am Chandler, AZ I use the CompUSA on Ray & I10.
More information: I haven't even had to do the buy and return to PM. I am able to just tell the casher the Fry's price and she either calls for price validation or she just enters the price (I assume she has already validated it that day.) GL
so you're saying that submitting a receipt showing PM'ed price won't affect the rebates? does anyone else have experience with this? Thanks in advance, and thanks OP! |

Here's what you do. Buy it with your AMEX, go back to CUSA and attempt PM. If you get shot down, do your usual threats to call corporate, call corporate if needed, and if all else fails go for the BVG. This is how I do it with CC. |

In theory, AMEX could deny the BVG claims because CompUSA has a pricematch policy. This has been in BVG terms for a while, but I have never seen it enforced until last week, when I had several BVG claims denied because the store (Staples) could have pricematched. Maybe they are tightening things up. But, still worth a chance. If they deny it, you can always use the AMEX return protection |

dont feel too bad. i'm in LA and i have been shot down many times for PM at CompUSA and Circuit City. Sure, LA has many local Fry's B&M locations, but that doesn't change anything. It actually only makes it worse, because a lot of people try to PM and then the managers at OD, OM, CC, and CompUSSR learn to turn you down. |

Anyone have a link to the (real) ad for the Chicago store? For PM purposes of course. |

I haven't been denied claims with CC or CompUSA although others have. In fact, when I did the last claim 4 weeks ago I specifically asked about CC and was told they aren't automatically rejecting those claims. A couple of us are in Deal Discussion trying to figure it out. Here's the link to the thread. |

I've PM'd 3-4 times since January and have been approved for all rebates. The only thing you will encounter is, if a rebate exceeds the actual purchase price, they will reduce the amount of the rebate to that purchase price. That won't happen if their are multiple rebates and they total greater than the purchase price, however. |

I knew I should have bought this drive at Circuit City last week when it had rebates. It would have been almost FAR after a PM. It would have been a relatively easy PM, but I didn't feel like speculating on when this would go on sale elsewhere. Next time, I won't hesitate. |

BIG YMMV.
If you live in San Diego, forget about it. I called CompUSSR and asked them about pricematching, without telling the guy about the drive. He said if their price ends up lower, then they adjust it to that it equals what it would be after rebates. And then I said "So if Fry's has a drive and....." and he said "Yeah, the Seagato 300? We have an issue with that. We will have to price ours 60 dollars higher so it comes out to the $79.99 price after our rebates"
What a toolbox. This could've been good. |

For the person looking for the drive in the Dallas Fry's ad, it's on the front page of Friday's ads. Lower left-hand corner. Enjoy! |
