KwadGuy said:I don't get it. If you buy from Overstock, you pay $4.50 and wait AT LEAST 2-3 weeks for it to arrive. (Overstock will take up to a week or more to ship the book by truck to a shipping location in another state, then you get to wait for USPS media mail to get to you...)
Or you can go to Costco or WalMart or whatever and get it for the same price and have it at least 2-3 weeks sooner...
Not much of a choice...

Here's my deal--all the Walmarts in Houston are ghetto-fabulous and not worth stepping into, unless you want to see crap scattered everywhere, even in the parking lots. I don't have a Costco membership. I figure I waited a few years already to get the book, why not wait a couple more weeks?
Edit--My order submitted yesterday shipped out today. |

You're not missing anything...this is a horribly written book that will make a relatively good action/mystery movie.
Read Holy Blood, Holy Grail if the concept interests you.
Trust me, I love mystery/hidden history/secret society type stuff, and this book is a joke. It's written at about a 4th grade level. To give you an idea of what you will be reading, here's a little "Dan Brown" style conversation(yes, he actually writes dialogue like this)
Me(at work):Hi Bob, my friend and coworker. I'm typing a message about The DaVinci Code on a computer! You know, one of those electronic devices with a keyboard and other methods of input, and it is displaying the results of that input on this screen.
Bob-Oh, I see. You should go to Fatwallet.com, it's a website dedicated to finding the best prices on various items you might wish to purchase!
Me-Oh ok, I bet if I type that web adderss into the browser window and hit the enter key, it will take me to that website!
Bob-Yeah,that's how it works. I'm glad we have every conversation in the book like this so every minute detail of the plot is made painfully obvious to the reader! Or, for a more technical critique: http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/languagelog/archives/000844.html |

seriously dude, what the F did u smoke! Its not literature, its research that just as well be faulty and pushing boundaries but u really cant have clear evidence of any issue that old especially when someone has tried to hide it. we know mary lived, we know christ was 'elected' as the son of god much later, so the fundamental evidence is there. if ure reading da vinci code to learn grammar then buy another book and stop bashing something because u found an article about it while u were searching for porn |

I am sure these guys (capa) are told that writing messages like these is walking a step closer towards GOD. Ofcourse, most of the wars were fought in the same. Tell them they'll reach GOD faster if they fight for [put what ever you want here].
Wait a minute here. Arent they giving deals to dudes like capa? Its something like an incentive. Why dont they post it on fatwallet? with a little change in name of forum. Fatsoul? Fatsalvation? Help me out here.

The Da Vinci Code is a novel that denies the diety of Jesus.
thus said:>>>we know mary lived, we know christ was 'elected' as the son of god much later,<<<
The fact is that the council of Nicea had 316 Bishops who were there to discuss two doctrines concerning the diety of Jesus. 314 of the 316 signed onto the doctrine that stated Jesus was the Son of God and was with God in the beginning. The book will tell you that the vote was so close that He barely made it. Also, the Council at Constantinople in 381 reaffirmed the doctrine after Constantine died.
>>>its research that just as well be faulty and pushing boundaries but u really cant have clear evidence of any issue that old especially when someone has tried to hide it.<<<
Is that statement of a fact? |

Blah blah blah....this book makes you think about the ways of all religions. Who is to say what really happened 2000 years ago, just because is written in the bible it does not mean is true, remember that the bible was written by men. All you brainiacs that think this book is too silly for you, go read Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum. |

Maybe that's because you are in a "ghetto-fabulous" area. The two walmarts closest to me are clean and tidy (NW Houston). |

Do not order from overstock. I have had two expensive orders completely screwed up by them. In one instance, they didn't have the $600 watch that I ordered, so they decided to send me a completely different one, the only similarity was the price. I requested a refund, they sent me a free return shipping label, 6 weeks later they sent me ANOTHER replacement instead of my refund!! I still have not received my refund! Check out the Better Business Bureau. There have been tons of complaints.
BE WARNED. |

<Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum.> Thanks for reminding me - I have heard Ecco's book is great. Believe it or not we studied an Umberto Ecco book in the philosophy of art course I took in college. |
