Does anyone know when the 2407fpw is going to be released? I have been holding off for that but I am reconsidering purchasing the 2405fpw now..

It was a problem with the Farouja chip being active in all modes. I believe they fixed that now.

Yep, mine arrived yesterday. Paid $720, always get hosed AFTER I pull the trigger!
Definitely worth getting the 2405 if you can't wait for the newer model. My wife and I just received our monitor yesterday as part of a sweet deal on a Dell E510. We ended up paying about $300 to upgrade to the 2405 after discounts and it was well worth it. Beautiful looking monitor. I can't wait to play Battlefield 2 on it

nice deal OP! however with the announcement of the new 2407FPW, Dell will likely slash the prices even further for the 2405FPW as they push the new model and clear out inventories

It was a problem with the Farouja chip being active in all modes. I believe they fixed that now. Revision A01 is out in other countries now. Banding issue seems to be fixed (maybe), but there may be other issues with running 1080i signals to the monitor. 2407 beats 2405 in lag time - 2405 has been shown to lag 20-30+ msec when compared to 2407: Link

i just received the june 2006 xps catalog and it has that the 2407 has a native resolution of 1680x1050... might be a typo.. but if not. .that kind sucks hard...anyway.. i love my 2405
edit.. nm.. seems to be a typo in the catalog... seems to be corrected on their website

Since CMV's (Summer, 2006) and HannsG's (Winter, 2006) 22"W LCDs are coming out soon and expected with the price below $400. I am curious whether the price of these 21"W to 24"W would be seriously affected.
Then again, the earlier you buy, the earlier you enjoy.

I can barely keep one happy. I meant two monitors. Double the fun of making your wife mad. I jokingly told somebody when she was around that I wanted to get another one and put them in portrait orientation. She didn't even respond with an eye roll.
Now if you had more than one wife you would receive more than one butt kicking for sure!

Great monitor, looks amazing. I picked it up a month or two ago when it was about $30 or $40 less. Definitely still worth it at this price though.
Perfect choice for playing consoles in HD over the component video and for regular computing.

yeah.. that resolution is for the 20.1" widescreen (2005 and 2007)

The new 2407WFP has shorter depth (7.7" vs. 9") and faster response time (6ms vs. 12ms) than the 2405FPW. But the 2407WFP also has higher maximum power consumption (110W vs. 80W).
Do you guys think the 2405FPW is a better value?

I currently have the Gateway FPD2185W 21" widescreen with DCDi, HDCP and all those goodies. Would you guys advise me selling this current monitor and getting the 2405 of 2407? I don't know how big of an issue HDCP compliance will be in the future. Do you guys think the 2407fpw will be released with pricing similar to that of the 2405fpw?

17" and 19" monitors have the same resolution so if you switch from 17 to 19 it sucks... Isnt 1920*1200 too low for a 24" widescreen... My 17" Dell laptop's screen has the same resolution.

dual 20.1" widescreens are the sweetspot right now for price/performance.. try running games like Oblivion (native res) on a 24" with anything less than a x1900xt.. i guarantee it will not be pretty
