But on that laptop, the text, icons, and everything else is really tiny.

Show me a 24" one with better resolution.

It is hard to find fault with this monitor after you actually have one. I found every reason in the book to find faults with it, then when I got one I wanted two.

Probably I can't. I am not saying that this monitor is not good or anything like that. I just say I prefer 17" over 19" and I would prefer 20" WS over 24" WS. I wish there was a jump at pixel count at 24"...

That was the price (20%).

I picked up this monitor a month ago to replace a behemoth 21" CRT. It is an awesome monitor that I thought might be too big... but now my wife's 2005FPW looks tiny

My only complaint about this monitor is that when you turn off the display, any usb devices you have attached to it go dead. Which, I suppose, is the way it should be... but I rarely turn of my system and it's bothersome to hear the 'ba-dum' everytime a usb device connects and disconnects. I guess if that's my biggest issue, it's not that bad

Oh... the card reader on the side is great too!

Just turn off the Windows sound scheme and set it to none. No more annoying Windows sounds.

according to engadget, Dell's release of the 2407 at $949 is imminent. I don't know how they normally deal with new releases (drop the retail price of older models, rather than keep selling them at a discount), but there is a chance the price for the 2405 might drop further.

Dell specializes on "just on time" delivery from its suppliers. When they introduce the 2407 the 2405 will dry up quickly. If they do have a fire sale, it won't be for long.

do you think the prices in the auction markets will change then? if Dell does have a fire sale, won't fleabayers have to adjust their price downward as well? by the way, that is what I am hoping will occur.

Quick question for the monitor/TV gurus here:

Do big, high-res monitors represent a good (and cheaper) alternative to LCD TVs like Syntax's? If I wanted to be able to watch TV, play console games, AND work on a nice screen, which would you buy?

I own this monitor, and it adds a completely new dimension to computing. The graphics (if you have a supportive graphics card) are truely wonderful. The main problem with an outfit like this is that in all likelihood those of us who do not have the time to spend hours and hours in front of a screen do not appreciate all of the available features. For 690$$, the price is worth every penny.

How is the picture between Analog and Digital signal? Will this monitor work with my ATI AIW 9700?

Can't you just set Windows to set the monitor to sleep after ten minutes of non-use? Then there's still power to the monitor, but it's off. I don't have this screen, so I don't know if it disconnects USB in this scenario.

dual 20.1" widescreens are the sweetspot right now for price/performance.. try running games like Oblivion (native res) on a 24" with anything less than a x1900xt.. i guarantee it will not be pretty
