CDNN Investments is selling Winchester Ranger SXT ammunition at $12.99/50rds.

You can get 155 grain and 180 grain bullets. I like 155 grains, personally.

These are NOT Black Talons. The Ranger SXT was the "replacement" ammo used by LE after Winchester/Olin pulled Black Talons off the market in the mid 1990s. To be clear, there is the Winchester SXT cartridge and then there is Winchester Ranger SXT. They are different and if you are unsure of what the differences are, check around the 'net. Neither SXT or Ranger SXT are the original Black Talon cartridge.

Unfortunately CDNN does not sell ammo via their website. You will have to phone in your order or mail it. I have ordered from CDNN before and have always had a good experience with them.

You can verify this deal by going to the CDNN website (link above) and downloading the online catalog, or requesting a paper catalog. The online catalog is 20-21 megabytes so you better have a fast connection! The deal is on page 147.

Download the catalog here, but only if you have one fast connection.

The ad says "9.99 shipping" but I believe that is NOT a per box charge; it should be a flat fee. I will find out when I order.

Hope you all like this!

Great deal on some great ammo. Thanks! Now if they had cheap 223...

Nice. Page 154 states $9.99 for any size order.. $3.50 signature requirement fee on guns and ammo order.

The tactical flashlight with rail for $29.99 is a super deal too, page 145

Target Sports Tactical LED Flashlight, Lightweight New
Brand New Target Sports Tactical LED Flashlight Ultra Bright Only 3.25" Overall Length Panasonic CR123 Battery Built In Picatinny/Weaver Rail Mount WEIGHS LESS THAN 4oz!!

Interesting... Too bad they don't have it in .45 ACP...

Way too many toys, kinda like Christmas in June for this good ol boy!

Find any deals on "plinkin" .40 ammo? I went to a gun show last weekend hoping to pick some up for $85-$90 a case of 500 like I used to get and prices were over $100 now. $107 was the going price for a case. They said the distributors raised prices 3 times in the past year and it was due to the metal market skyrocketing.

I usually try to pick up some Blazer Brass from Wal-Mart for under $9 a box.

Post any cheap .40 ammo here.

Unless you are willing to shoot Wolf steel-cased ammo in .223 (which I am not), there's no cheap .223 to be had. If you are looking for deals on 55gr M193 (not XM193 or XM193PD) or SS109 (partial steel core, 62 grain) then check out AIM Surplus for their deals on Guatamalan M193 and Radway Green SS109. Cheapest prices out there, as far as I can tell. Otherwise, nothing.

Sorry ... I too went to a gunshow last weekend (Valley Forge, PA) to look for ammo. No decent deals on .40 S&W. Reloadinng seems the only reliable source these days for cheap .40 S&W ammo ... I have a Dillon 550B and it works great.

I believe John's Gun Shop is selling the Radway Green for $150 per 720 rds., shipping, a 50 cal. ammo can, some stripper clips and bandoliers all included in the price. This may be a better deal than AIM's price, given the free shipping. (Personally, I've got a huge quantity of SS109 and Federal XM-193 that I laid in back when prices were low, so I'm not really looking for more .223 ammo right now.)

The Ranger SXT at $12.99/50 is an excellent deal.

I, too, have a Dillon RL550B (and even my old RCBS Rock Chucker), but sometimes it's just not worth the bother of reloading, if all I want's plinking ammo and it can be had cheap on the surplus market. Mind you, if I want match ammo, or some highly specific combination of bullet type, muzzle velocity, overall length, etc., that can't be readily found off-the-shelf, or if it's a caliber that can't be found cheap in the pages of Shotgun News, that's when I load my own.

As an aside, I never cease to be amazed by the number of people who own multiple guns, worth thousands of dollars, yet who have virtually no ammunition on hand at any given time. More than once, I've gone to the range with someone who required us to stop at WalMart, Dick's, K-Mart, etc., on the way, because he didn't have any ammo.

It's like owning a half dozen cars, but never having more than half a gallon of gasoline.

Is Rossi a good brand? (They have a Rossi shotgun for $70)

WalMart has Winchester .40 for around $15 for 100 rounds. That is a much better deal than the Ranger.
I'll have to check out that tactical flashlight for my HK USP. While pretty unnecessary, it would be cool to have.

Ammoman has decent deals on .223. IMO Wolf works perfect for range time. Sure the old stuff may be dirty and the new stuff might not be any better (I'm not sure yet), but it goes down range and puts a hole in the paper when I pull the trigger. I think everyone should give their rifle a decent cleaning after every shoot anyway so dirty or not makes no difference.

a guy at academy told me that the prices for ammo were going up was because China and India were 'hoarding' brass and copper supplies and the price of ammo was still going up...

my 50 rounds of 9mm cci blazer at academy were $3.86 a box in Jan and are now $4.86 a box and the price will probably go up again...

The $15 100-round Winchester White Box is good for range use, but I would not even consider it for carry ammo. I would, however, carry the SXT (although I currently carry Speer Gold Dot, which cost me about $18/20). So this seems like a pretty good deal to me.

I agree, the Winchester White Box stuff is FMJ, not JHP like the SXT or Ranger SXT. I do not subscribe to the maxim that "they all fall to hardball" and would not recommend FMJ usage for carry ammunition.

Ranger SXT (JHP) is not practice ammunition unless you are very rich (in which case, what are you doing on FW)?

cheaperthandirt.com is also a good site for cheap ammo!

SXT is not bad stuff, but I don't buy SD/carry ammo on price alone. In tests I have seen the Gold Dots or Federal HSTs expand nicely. SXT will get the job done, however. Whatever you buy, make sure to buy enough to make sure you gun cycles correctly.

Received my shipment of ammo today. I think CDNN still has this in stock for those who are interested.

My buddy and I went in on an order of 155gr ammo. The stock number is RA40155HP. The Ranger SXT hollowpoint has six petals as opposed to eight petals for the Supreme SXT (non-LE) line.

We will try to run a live range test this weekend. Keep in mind this is not Ranger T ammo; I posted a different thread about the deal at Century for that ammo ($16.39/50 for 180gr bullets only).
