They advertise white glove service, or removal of your old mattress, as part of the deal when you buy a new one from W Hotels The Store. But in the DC area, at least, they use 1-800-Mattress as their delivery service. Those guys will not take away an old mattress if it's stained. Just an FYI, turns out white glove service only applies for relatively pristine old mattresses, so don't count on removal service actually happening if you buy from them.

A follow-up: W Hotels was responsive to my complaint about 1-800-Mattress not removing the old mattress. W Hotels arranged for the old mattress to be picked up by 1-800-Mattress a week later. So problem solved, & "white-glove" service WAS provided in the end. Stand-up move by W Hotels , much appreciated.
I was wondering for people that got the normal sized box spring, if it will look too high for this frame im planning to get from ikea. I also have a 5" feather bed coming in the mail. Thanks
Ouch......just did a search and found a 20% off code, L3DXM..........I hope somebody finds a 35% code soon, that extra 15% is kind of a big deal on something this big.

Just the usual word of caution to mattress shoppers: just because this is a decent deal (see my post below linking you to an essentially the same mattress sold at Macy's for the about same price), does not mean that it is the right deal for you. When it comes to mattresses people's comfort preferences vary WIDELY, so many mattresses that work for some people will cause excruciating pain to others.
These are good quality mattresses in the Simmons Classic line (not Worldclass, as has been incorrectly noted in some of the previous threads). This does not take anything away from the mattress, however, since there is no direct correlation between the amount of money that you spend and the comfort that you achieve in a mattress. At the same time, I find the W mattresses to be far too soft and not sufficiently supportive for my taste and, personally, much prefer the extra firm and cushion firm mattresses in the Simmons Worldclass line with 1260 coils and a memory foam layer (the memory foam layer on these mattresses does not have the slow sinking feeling which I hate of regular memory foam mattresses and is significantly more durable than regular foam, so it reduces permanent body impressions that make mattresses uncomfortable).
Again, this does not take anything away from this deal -- just make sure that you'll be comfortable on these mattresses or it won't matter how good of a financial deal you got.
Now, the number of coils in these mattresses indicates that it belongs to the Classic line. Simmons uses the coil count in the Queen sized mattresses(here is a link to Simmons' website, which confirms this) to decide whether a mattress belongs in its Classic versus Worldclass lines. As such, a Queen W mattress has 825 coils, which puts it in the Classic line. To confirm, just take a look at this Simmons Beautyrest Classic "Adrian" Plush Mattress Set sold at Macy's -- it is a Beautyrest Classic with 800 coils. I've previously spoken with Macy's and Simmons and they've confirmed that this is essentially the same mattress as the W mattress with 25 fewer coils. I've also tried this mattress at Macy's and one at Nordstrom and don't see any difference (as I posted above, they are way too soft for my taste though and I feel like I don't have enough support but that's always subjective).
As you can see from this link taken directly from Simmons' website, a Simmons Worldclass mattress has 980 coils in queen sized mattresses. W Hotels have the "worldclass" label on them because their queen mattresses have 825 coils, which puts them ever so slightly above the Classic line (by 25 coils). In other words, in this case the label is somewhat of a marketing trick to cause people to think that they are getting more mattress for their money. Please note that Macy's price is very similar to the price at which the W mattresses sell and further discounts are pretty easy to obtain off the Macy's price with things like 20% off giftcards.
Again, this doesn't take anything away from this deal or from this mattress and if it is comfortable, you won't care about the label on it.
P.S. To clarify, I am not trying to threadcrap and am certainly in no way implying that this is a bad mattress or is a bad deal. I just want to make sure that people realize that in purely financial terms, this is a decent but not an amazing deal and can be fairly easily matched by other retailers. Hence, if you like this mattress, then by all means buy it. On the other hand, if you are looking for slightly different characteristics in a mattress, you can fairly easily get them through other retailers at a price that's just as competitive without any haggling (you can't haggle at Macy's or at Mattress Firm, for instance). For instance, while the W Hotels only offer two comfort levels, you can get way more comfort levels of this mattress through other retailers. For instance, Macy's sells the Cushion Firm and the Firm versions of the same exact mattress for the same $897 price (minus the 20% off, if you can get it through gift cards). By the way, I do not work for Macy's, am in no way affiliated with them and am not endorsing Macy's in any way. I am just referencing Macy's inventory here because it is very conveniently available online (and because their 20% off gift cards are relatively easy to obtain).
bmammons said: I stopped by Mattress Firm tonight just to find out about the "similar" mattresses they had. Basically, they had the Simmons Beautyrest World Class & Simmons Beautyrest World Class/Exceptionale.
The World Class Pillowtops (in King) ranged from $1799 - $1999 (3 models) ON SALE. Supposedly, a "sale" from July 4th that they've extended (of course, the salesman had no clue how long this "sale" would continue). These had roughly the same coil count as this "W" Hotel mattress (I assume, because the queen mattress they had supposedly contained 800-something coils).
The World Class/Exceptionale P/T (in King) ranged from $2300 - $3000+ ON SALE! Get a load of this, the "Exceptionale" line is basically the same depth mattress, but they have 2 "layers" of coils joined somehow in the middle cross-section of the mattress (so, I assume each coil is basically cut in 1/2 to get the same overall depth). That way, they can claim their Queen mattress has 1,700+ coils! That's the ONLY difference between the World Class series & the World Class Exceptionale series! What a marketing scam. Supposed to cut down on "intermotion transfer." Trust me, if I'm asleep, my wife could yell fire and I wouldn't wake up, so I'm not falling for that gimick.
I was blown away by these prices (of course, "regular price" on each of these was $1,000 or so more than this "sale price". Salesman tried to sell me that they were "giving" me free delivery, and that "for Mattress Firm only" Simmons had added some bullcrap "allercare" system (supposed to be something to cut down on allergies, which I've never had from a mattress anyways). Of course, when I pushed him on coil counts, the foam they use for these World Class lines, etc., he seemed shocked at how much I knew about mattresses (a lot learned here and researching online). Basically, I walked out after he said he could "make a call" and see if he could get a few more hundred knocked off their "sale" prices. I mentioned the "W" Hotels mattresses, and he hadn't heard of it (he did mention he knew of the Westin Hotel line). Now you see how much markup their is on these things, when we know W Hotel is still making money at $1072 for the KING Pillowtop SET!I thought I would quote this 2+ year old post as a cautionary example of the way that some people here seem to have gotten confused by the Heavenly/W-bed marketing, which has led them to believe that they are getting more mattress for their money with the Heavenly/W-bed. The person whose post I am quoting here (I am not attacking him in any way, by the way -- it certainly is easy to get confused by the marketing) posted about comparing prices of the W bed to the prices charged for the much higher end Simmons beds (which he did not realize were much higher end), which led him to incorrectly conclude that he was getting an exceptional financial deal on the W bed.
In reality, as I showed in the post above, what allows Simmons to put the "Worldclass" label on the W mattress is the fact that they put 825 coils in a queen whereas their traditional Classic line has 800 coils (the Worldclass line has 980 coils in a queen). So, the extra 25 coils take this mattress outside of the definition of "Classic" and the next category up is "Worldclass," which is where Simmons puts it even though the coil count is nowhere near the coil count found in other Worldclass mattresses and it does not have the foam encasement found in Simmons' Worldclass mattresses.
Hence, it is somewhat of a marketing trick on Simmons' part, which causes a lot of people to conclude that they are getting more mattress for the money. As you can also see from the Macy's link above, Macy's also sells essentially the same mattress for about the same price as the W price after the discount. You can also get additional discounts at Macy's through things like 20% off gift cards but that requires you to know how to use Dealpass, which is YMMV.
FYI, just got an email from whotelsthestore.com, stating that they were increasing the prices on their W Bed on 03/20/09.

I bought a full plush top last week to avoid the price increase - and they actually ended up lowering the prices for the plush top set from $1075 to $949. With the 40% off coupon I used, I would've saved an extra $45 if I waited til after the "price increase."

The upside is its soft an comfy. The downside is that the pillowtop eventually gets compressed and its not so soft and comfy anymore.
Personally I went with a plush top and added a soft topper to it. That way I can replace it when it gets compressed.

We're pretty much done with Macy's. We've been through 4 different beds because of a sagging problem. We purchased the "hotel" deluxe plush blah blah blah... which set us back about 3,000. We switched it out twice thinking it was just a defective bed - nope. Same thing happened with our replacement. After switching it out twice... we decided to go with a Simmons "felicia" series. Again, this was a pillow-top bed. Within 4 months of purchasing the bed... we had it inspected and there was a 2" sag on my side of the bed. I'm not a big guy at all...approx 135 lbs. I have a feeling this is a common problem among pillow-top beds. I'm looking to get a firm matress and making it soft via a feather bed etc... I can always change it out if there's a sagging problem.
My only problem with this bed is... you CANT test it out! Granted Macy's switched all of our beds out with no additional costs. I just find it hard to believe there's no refunding with this bed. I understand there's an exchange program available in any event you're not satisfied.
I read several posts about the "deal" not being such a great deal if you compare it to a different matress at Macy's. Well, I compared it to a similar bed and they're asking 1500-1900 for a bed with less coils. Although the amount of coils doesn't necessarily mean it's a better bed. Some companies have less coils.... however, the gauge of the coils they use is larger.
Anybody experience a similar problem to ours... or have the same views to not being able to go to a store and try these matresses out? I've seen more positive reviews about this bed than any other bed I've looked at.

I understand there's an exchange program available in any event you're not satisfied. If you are beyond the comfort trial period, NO retailer allows for you to get a refund if you are not satisfied. The only notable exception to this policy is Sam's/Costco, which will take the mattress back and refund your money in full as part of their customer satisfaction policy.

Well, I compared it to a similar bed and they're asking 1500-1900 for a bed with less coils. What deals are you comparing? In December, 2008 we ended up purchasing this Simmons WorldClass Angelique Cushion Firm king mattress SET at Macy's with 1260 coils and a 360 degree foam encasement -- our price for a brand new mattress set (not clearance, which typically carries no warranty) with free delivery and carryout ended up being $1,211 plus tax and Macy's offers a comfort trial and excellent warranty support.
By the way, here is the Sweet Dreams link to the same mattress as ours selling for $1,299 and free shipping, comfort trial, no sales tax, etc... I don't know how their warranty support works though, since all warranty issues must go through your retailer.
Although the amount of coils doesn't necessarily mean it's a better bed. Some companies have less coils.... however, the gauge of the coils they use is larger. You can't compare mattresses across different manufacturers based on the coil count. The only time that coil count can be used as a gauge of anything is when you are comparing mattresses produced by the same manufacturer.
Has anyone else this mattress replaced through warranty? I called W today because our mattress(plush model) is sagging badly. They told me to call Simmons. I called them and they said they would replace it and to follow instructions that they would send me in an email. When I got the email I was upset to see that I must dispose of their defective mattress and pay an $85.00 delivery charge for the replacement. Nobody mentioned that during either phone call. Anybody else get a replacement?

I'm currently looking at the King size Angelique via the link you posted and it's running approx 2,400. How did you get it for 1,200? I must say Macy's is GREAT about exchanging out our beds... However, I'd rather avoid ordering 5 different beds to get it right.

However, $85 is a little steep.

It's not just the delivery fee. They also expect me to have the defective mattress hauled away. That is an additional cost for me.
As far as the ease of calling for a replacement. It was painless. Just call Simmons and they will take care of it. They will tell you that they don't need to see it for a first replacement. They will replace it as a courtesy. The mattress you will receive will be good for the remainder of the warranty that you had on the original mattress. They will then send you an email and it will contain the following instructions...
The delivery agent will contact you to schedule an appointment once they have received the product from the local manufacturing facility. Please do not dispose of your bedding product until you can confirm receipt of the required items by Simmons. Your claim CANNOT be finalized unless all items below are received in our office.
___ Satin label or Oval Medallion (on side panel) from mattress with W Hotel Plush ___ White "Under Penalty of Law" tag from mattress. ___ Proof or purchase or receipt
___ Best phone number for carrier to contact you __________________________________.
___ $ 85.00 applicable shipping charges. We accept money orders or bank/cashiers checks only made payable to Simmons. WE ARE UNABLE TO PROCESS PERSONAL CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS.
I found the easiest way to get the label off without cutting the mattress up is to iron it and warm the adhesive. It will peel right off.
I bought three of these in June 2006 and I am sorry I did. I purchased the plush and bought the featherbeds with covers for all of them. That added almost $200. to the price of each mattress. The featherbeds didn't work because the mattresses still seemed too hard. Then I bought 3" memory foam toppers which ran about $175. each. They were better than the featherbeds until the sagging began. The bed I am replacing now is the worst, but I'm figuring that the one other one will be soon be next. So, for all the money I have into these I think I could have bought much better mattresses. I am going to the local mattress supplier next time and buying a good mattress that I can flip. Like the old saying goes "You get what you pay for."
