Thank you, USA1. This will be the gift for myself for July 4th.
USA1 said:Hi Amao, It will be a noticeable difference from the Santa Cruz. I had a Santa Cruz and noticed quite a difference going to the Creative Live! 24 bit which is a crippled up version of the Audigy 2 value sound card. The 24 bit sound is awesome! (All of this assumes you have a nice 2.1 or more spaker setup!) I can't help the fellow with the Diamond sound card though because I've never owned his sound card. |

Is this a better deal than the X-Fi XtremeMusic at CompUSA for $79.99 AR that started today?Link |

Hi ACandJVR, Yes, the X-Fi XtremeMusic at CompUSA for $79.99 AR is a newer card but doesn't have the breakout box that the Audigy 2 has. The X-Fi is Creative's latest sound card technology whereas the Audigy 2 is a little older. Both however, would be a terrefic upgrade for most users! The deal you link to requires less money up front, has a smaller rebate, and has newer technology, but doesn't have a breakout box. For most people this may well be more attractive! |

The rebate is by creative, not buy Buy.com.
So cant we buy from here, and save another $35? |

So cant we buy from here, and save another $35?Well, because of rather pricey shipping charges, the savings would be more to the tune of $25 I believe, and while Compuvest does show the part number to be the same as listed on the rebate form, they also show that the package they are selling is a plain box package, so I would worry that the original Creative UPC code which is required by the rebate might not be on that plain box! Büy.com package is a retail one which will have the required UPC. I would have also thrown in the excuse that Compuvest has a terrible rating over on ResellerRatings.com ... but heck, Büy.com has a horrible rating there as well.
Oopps, nevermind, as DiMAn0684 stated, after closer inspection of the form, the fine print does state Büy.com only. |

I am still waiting for my $100 Creative rebate that the rebate company received on 05-04-2006. It was the same deal from Buy.com. I even do not know whether it is hassle deal or not. |

Is this a pre-complaint in your anticipation that Creative will eventually be late with the rebate payment?
If the date you posted is the case, then it has only been about 8 weeks anyway, and the rebate probably had the same time allowance period stated on it as this current one, "Please allow ten (10) weeks after Creatives receipt of rebate request for processing. If you have not received your rebate after ten (10) weeks, please call 1.800.998.5227 or check the rebate status at: http://us.creative.com/support/rebate."
Really, even if the rebate for the last deal stated the allowance time as 8 weeks, at least give it an extra week or 2 before you get too concerned about it being a hassle, OK? |

Strange, is it just me or did the price jump to $69.99 AR. Anyway, $54.99 AC/AR isn't such a bad deal I guess. |

Just to clarify the front panel break out box that comes with the card only fits in a cd drive - correct?
It will not fit in a floppy drive space? |
