AFTER $100 MIR. Seems like a decent price for last gen sound card, but kinda big rebate. Something goes wrong as it sometimes does with rebate companies and you're paying way too much for it... dunno.

Edit: is it last gen or 2 gen ago? Just looking and I see they have both X Fi and Audigy 4 cards available. Not sure what's what.
Edit2: Okay, looked it up myself. Audigy 4 is essentially just another Audigy 2 ZS. More like a A2 ZS 2. Same core but with slightly improved SNR and DACs, at least according to wikipedia.

A couple points.
Rebate expires after today, Jun 30. --- New rebate replaced old, with 7-1 to 8-31 dates
There are $10 off $150 for new customers, and 10% off coupons around. Use if you can.

Edit: I'm not a new customer, but created new account (new email) with old address/name/and CC, $10 off coupon still seems to work.

Awesome... I've been watching this for a while. Had a 10% off coupon (haven't ordered from them in a while) which took up to 15.00 off, so it should be 141.99 - 100 rebate = 41.99. Works for me!

Thanks OP!

Doh,,, I deleted all my emails from Buy.com. Where's 10% when I really need one? hehe

Thanks OP. Been watching this one a while, it was $68.99 last I checked AR, so this is good...

I am not so sure if the rebate will work if you use a 10% coupon, it says not valid with any other offers ...

I used 10% coupon on this the last time it was on sale and my rather large $100 rebate came through fine. Great sound card setup by the way. The front panel with the firewire port is awesome!

The $10 or 10% off are irrelevant to what specific items you purchase. Should have no effect on a Creative Labs product rebate. On my reciept, it shows two items. A $10 off special ($0.00) and the audigy 2 zs ($146.99). Doesn't show 10 being removed or anything, just shows a lowered price on the sound card.

FWIW: Creative rebates are relatively hassle free. I did a $250 rebate on the creative multimedia player, they sent it within 5 weeks. I have also done a couple of other rebates with no problems at all.

The deal is still alive.
New rebate starting today 7/1-8/31/2006

Am I qualified for the new rebate if I already made the June one? I saw they have different promotion number. Thanks.

Grabbed one w/10% off, have an old live that has been making some noise.

I am struggling and need some advice. Is it worth to upgrade from Turtle Beach Santa Cruz to this card? I read some bad reviews about Audigy's driver. For those who own the card, what is your opinion?

i also wanna know the same thing but for the Diamond XtremeSound XS71???

Yes, it's a completely new rebate. And limit is 2. I have sent in maybe a dozen Creative rebates and never had a single problem.

I don't know about Turtle beach - never owned one..

I bought my Audigy 2ZS Platinum when it was $199 (with $100 rebate) - mid-last year or so. It works fine both in WinXP and in Linux.

Weird, I received the 10% coupon on June 23, and haven't placed any other orders w/ Buy.com since Feb. Yet, each time I attempt purchase this item and submit from checkout, it tells me I've either used the coupon previously or I'm not eligble! Heck, I'm using the account associated w/ the email address on the coupon, what more does it want?! Is there a problem using FatCash w/ a Buy.com coupon that could account for this problem?

Buy is first, then send them email to ask for a price adjustment. I did it before successfully.

Hi Amao,
It will be a noticeable difference from the Santa Cruz. I had a Santa Cruz and noticed quite a difference going to the Creative Live! 24 bit which is a crippled up version of the Audigy 2 value sound card. The 24 bit sound is awesome! (All of this assumes you have a nice 2.1 or more spaker setup!) I can't help the fellow with the Diamond sound card though because I've never owned his sound card.

Thank you, USA1. This will be the gift for myself for July 4th.

green for you $42 after rebate

Is this a better deal than the X-Fi XtremeMusic at CompUSA for $79.99 AR that started today?Link

Hi ACandJVR,
Yes, the X-Fi XtremeMusic at CompUSA for $79.99 AR is a newer card but doesn't have the breakout box that the Audigy 2 has. The X-Fi is Creative's latest sound card technology whereas the Audigy 2 is a little older. Both however, would be a terrefic upgrade for most users! The deal you link to requires less money up front, has a smaller rebate, and has newer technology, but doesn't have a breakout box. For most people this may well be more attractive!

The rebate is by creative, not buy Buy.com.

So cant we buy from here, and save another $35?

Read the rebate form. It says that card has to be purchased@ Buy.com

Well, because of rather pricey shipping charges, the savings would be more to the tune of $25 I believe, and while Compuvest does show the part number to be the same as listed on the rebate form, they also show that the package they are selling is a plain box package, so I would worry that the original Creative UPC code which is required by the rebate might not be on that plain box! Büy.com package is a retail one which will have the required UPC. I would have also thrown in the excuse that Compuvest has a terrible rating over on ResellerRatings.com ... but heck, Büy.com has a horrible rating there as well.

Oopps, nevermind, as DiMAn0684 stated, after closer inspection of the form, the fine print does state Büy.com only.

my order was just cancelled for no apparent reason. What's the deal?

I am still waiting for my $100 Creative rebate that the rebate company received on 05-04-2006. It was the same deal from Buy.com. I even do not know whether it is hassle deal or not.

hdongyt said: I am still waiting for my $100 Creative rebate that the rebate company received on 05-04-2006. It was the same deal from Buy.com. I even do not know whether it is hassle deal or not.Still waiting? You make it sound as if Creative is taking too long and they are late in getting you your rebate check ... why?

Is this a pre-complaint in your anticipation that Creative will eventually be late with the rebate payment?

If the date you posted is the case, then it has only been about 8 weeks anyway, and the rebate probably had the same time allowance period stated on it as this current one, "Please allow ten (10) weeks after Creative’s receipt of rebate request for processing. If you have not received your rebate after ten (10) weeks, please call 1.800.998.5227 or check the rebate status at: http://us.creative.com/support/rebate."

Really, even if the rebate for the last deal stated the allowance time as 8 weeks, at least give it an extra week or 2 before you get too concerned about it being a hassle, OK?

Strange, is it just me or did the price jump to $69.99 AR. Anyway, $54.99 AC/AR isn't such a bad deal I guess.

Yes, price is up to 169.99 - $100 rebate.

Just to clarify the front panel break out box that comes with the card only fits in a cd drive - correct?

It will not fit in a floppy drive space?
