LA Fry's has The Godfather DVD Collection on sale for $24.99. Some Bestbuys are still selling it for $50 (not sure about Circuit City). Price match 110% and get it for $22.50.

Wow... I remember getting it for 80 bucks when it first came out.

update your thread title.

make sure to make them an offer that they wont refuse ......

i love this movie

I don't buy many DVDs, but the Godfather collection is one that I do own. Paid a lot more than $22 for it. WOW!! That is just a steal for a mostly classic movie series (GF III, excepted).

Good post!!! I overlooked that when I went through Fry's Houston ad this morning. They also have the Indiana Jones trilogy for $24.99. Probably similar PM opportunities.

I'm pulling in to BB on my way home this evening!

Nice deal. thx OP.

$34.88 at Amazon and free shipping and no tax. Great for those of us who don't have a Fry's around or are too lazy to go out

FWIW, part III was terrible.

it should swim with the fishes.

Sophia Ford Coppola single handedly took down the Godfather

Which too bad, because she's turning out to be a fantastic director.

Thanks OP! I'll be picking this up tomorrow. At $22.50 for the set that is a great price even though part III sucked.

This is also true

A few years ago, some channel on cable (USA, I think) broadcast a recut version of the GF that showed the story as it happened. They took pieces of each of the movies and re-edited them so you watched the story of the Corleones from the first introduction of Vito to the very last shot of the last movie. I think it lasted several nights, and was shown as a mini-series.

Does anyone know if this version has ever been put onto dvd? I have the original boxed set, but would love to buy this one, too. It really brought the story to life in a way the other movies couldn't.

Thanks for your input.

I think this was only released on VHS in the '80s. I'd like to see the chronological verison myself.

wasn't that bad. it gave one of the best quotes from the series: "just when i thought i was out... they pulled me back in!"

I thought I and II were good.. I did not like III, especially Sophia Ford Copolla's acting. The end dying scene was horrible!!!

Still though at this price I'm getting the set. It's cheaper than buying 1 and 2 separately.

Just got one from bestbuy for ~$23 afer PM. I found out the best way to PM 110% at bestbuy is to buy it first, then go back and show them the ad and try to return it. They will PM 110% without any hesitation. First bestbuy I went to refuse to do 110% pricematch because "I haven't bought it yet". So I said "Do you want me to buy it now and come back for PM?". The guy said "No you can't because we know". I was so pissed and just left the store. I haven't shopped at BB for over 2 years, can't believe they still have such bad customer service.

from my experiences at Best Buy, the clerks/checkers refuse to do 110% Price Matches, they will only do 100% price for price matching but nothing extra.

What I do now is this. Purchase the item at Best Buys full face value, pay for item and then walk over to "Customer service/merchandise pick ups" with the advertisement. The way my local store is set up cashiers are next the entrance/exit on one side, and Customer service is on the other side of the doors. They probably don't want the people waiting in line to buy stuff hearing all the complaints at customer service. So I don't even leave the store, I buy it, then walk right over to customer service and tell the Customer Service people (not the cashiers) that I bought this for whatever amount showing them the item and receipt, and see that its cheaper at their competitor (show them the advertisement). All the customer service people I have dealt with will give you the 110% PM at this point, if not say you want to return it and they should give you the 110% PM guarantee.

Hot, thx for the heads up. Time for me to head down to Fry's

Are these the digitally remastered version? Maybe they are clearing up the inventory for the old original version to make way for the digitally remastered collection set. Read somewhere before how the original DVD collection gave no justice to how beautiful the film really was from a cinematic point of view. How the sceneries on the original DVD set was dull and pale. That's why they have been remastering 1 part after the other the past few years in the hope of bringing out the real beauty of the Godfather film series. Been wanting to own this set but until I get confirmation that this is the remastered collection set, I ain't buying.

Not sure if this is the digitally remastered version. Since there's only one version available I'll assume it should be. They also sell each episode individually for about $15 a piece. For about $23~$25 whole set I'll just grab it now, and wait for the blu-ray or HD DVD version come out a couple years later.

Thats the thing. I know the individual ones that came out recently were the digitally remastered versions. But the boxed set was an old collector's set which most likely doesn't contain the digitally remastered versions. Been keeping a close watch on this dvd collection for some time now.

Bestbuy sales team is unbelievable. I had to buy a Harmony 880 remote control and on their website it was going for $199 and in the store it was priced at $249. When I ask the sales ppl they tell me that they dont match their online prices. And I told them it was because of their price on the website that caused me to drop by their store. I had like 3 sales ppl saying the same thing. This BESTBUY is in Northern Blvd, Queens, NYC. Thank god, when I rang it up it showed $199. I would hate to go to customer service to straighten their mess out. Terrible staff I tell you.

Here's the current version of BB's price guarantee:

Best Buy In-Store Price Guarantee

Here are two more great reasons for you to shop with confidence at Best Buy.

If you are about to make a purchase and discover a lower price than ours, let us know and we'll match that price on the spot.

Already bought it? We'll refund you the price difference, plus an additional 10% of the difference — up to 30 days after your purchase (14 days for desktop computers, notebooks, projectors, monitors, printers, camcorders, digital cameras and radar detectors).

Either way, simply bring in proof of a local retail competitor's price on the same available brand and model (plus your original Best Buy receipt, if applicable). Then, we'll do the rest.

So if you want the extra 10% (and what FatWalleter doesn't?) it looks like you have to go through the buy/price adjustment hassle.
