This board is Awsome!!

great post

tim, u might wanna add OEM to the list

Yeah, this board is the best...

Good to know~

Thanks for setting this community up for us "value addicts".

Gotta post to try to fix my avatars.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!!!

MFG does NOT equal /=/ Manufacturer
MFTR is BETTER equaled to = Manufacturer

Take out the stupid "G" whenever you say manufacturer or manufacturing. It is so UNnecessary.

are group buys allowed here ..... btw no its not my company .... but i have ordered from them and they are honest resellers

Gotta love FatWallet!

What I've wondered is how does the little "hot" picture get assigned to a thread? Is it a certain amount of traffic or what?

Fantastic then!

Chief,

I think you should also mention the "MiniMod" feature in this FAQ. Far too often I see people posting "Mods, lock this" and other non-constructive posts, when one could simply notify a mod using this feature.

Just my $0.02.

What does AT mean? I keep seeing that abbreviation in other posts.

Thank you all for posting these here!! I am new here and I can use all the help I can get!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

AT = Anandtech...it's a site similar to this one.

Hi, I got a question. How would I apply a online $30 off $150 coupon at the real store, for example Staples.

You guys are GREAT!! You covered everything as far as I can tell. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Great job listing the acronyms and procedures. In addition, could you provide a sort of mini dictionary listing some of the commonly used terms such as "bump" as in "bumping a thread"? I'm sure it would be helpful to newbies such as myself.

what does "BVG" stand for??

BVG = Best Value Guarantee - with some credit cards, if you purchase an item and then find it at a lower price elsewhere, you can get back the difference (with appropriate documentation)

101!

What does BVG stand for?

MIT = Made in Taiwan

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

MIT also could refer to a small and relatively unknown school for penguins in Cambridge <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

New Acronym DD = Dumpster Diving or Dumpster Deals

had to do it , sorry.

<< This is version 1.0 of our Hot Deal Forum FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions - but you know that much already right?)

If you have any suggestions or new questions, post them in this thread so we can update this thread as we go along!

When I posted 2 questions: Do any online versions of B&M stores do PMs? Is anyone else sqeamish about seeking PMs. I was immediately scolded for posting in the wrong forum.

By the time someone switched it to the "right" forum (deal discussion) (within 2-4 minutes)my post had already been viewed 53 times. In the 35 minutes which have passed since, the total number of views remains at 53.

Obviously, a good many followers of the Hot Deals forum thought my post was both relevant and of interest to them. Moving it to Deals Discussion brought further views to a dead halt. It seems to me that a general question about PMs, which are key elements of probably 4/5 of all Hot "Hot Deals" posted, are a question of general interest to many Hot Deal forum followers, particularly new members. A few crabby "senior members" nothwithstanding, keeping relevant posts like mine out of the highly trafficked Hot Deals forum and relegating it it to the backwaters of the deals discussion forum elevates the interests of form way over those of function.

Organization is important, but it seems to me that the inflexible segregation of posts on FatWallet forums restricts rather than enhances the free flow of the consumer information which FatWallet is in the business of providing.

**************************************************************

UPDATE: 12:25AM, PST, 7/3/2002 - As reported above, my original post had received 53 viewings during the 10 or less minutes it was allowed to remain posted on the Hot Deals Forum. At that point it was summarily yanked and posted on the Deal Discussions forum. In the 10 hours since then, my post was viewed an additional 58 times.

In other words, it has taken over 10 hours since my post was moved to Deal Discussions for the number of views registered on that forum (58) to exceed (by only 4) the number of views which my post received (54) during its brief 10 minute appearance on the Hot Deals Forum.

AFAIK B&M OD PM GDA OM. IMHO OEM MFG IR CPN R HD. BTW YMMV.

what does OBO mean?

"Or Best Offer"? Hah?

What determines the "hot" and "dead" isignias on the icons?

I wanted to know where the dl of the fat wallet tool bar is. I had to format my PC and lost it. Its very handy when I shop on the internet.

http://www.fatwallet.com/Fatwalletb.msi

what does the fatwallet toolbar do?

HOW ABOUT SOME TIPS ON HOW PRINTING SCANNED COUPONS!!!!

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

That's very helpful to me.

I saw FBB used in the financial forum. What does it mean?

All My Friends Are On AOL.

Ok, i just made that one up, but its true!

Edit Also, what is EE and SB? (again from the financial forum)
Edit Edit You might also add to your lists MM - money market and APY - whatever that means.
Edit Edit Edit Also, does BT = Bank Transfer? Do we need a separate FAQ for the financial forum?
Edit Edit Edit Edit Ok, found all my answers.
EE - type of govt bond
SB - savings bond
MM - money market
BT - bank transfer
FBB - Farm Bureau Bank
