I got a flyer in the mail today from comcast saying that you could get standard digi cable for $25 till june 2007, and cable internet for $25 though june 2007, plus free installation. as an existing customer, i called up to see if i could get this deal, because I wanted to cut my $44.99 for standard analog cable down to $25.

The CSR told me that they had an even better deal-- $19.99 for standarad digital cable (with on demand/digi box) for 12 months (instead of just till june). She also volunteered to nock off the $9.99 installation charge (since i was an existing customer and not new)

I live in Chico, CA and this was for the Sacramento/NorCal division of Comcast.

here is the scan SCAN. It is the exact same deal as that, except replace 24.99 till June 2007 with 19.99 for 12 months (which is the offer that the comcast rep told me about).

thanks op. waiting for the 800 #

Please give the 1800 number.. That would be great!

Just for your information, I walked in a local comcast office to return the digital box - just downgrading from the sliver package that I got in one year ago (with promotion) to standard cable. Then, pleasantly surprising, I was told I can get the $19.99/mon for one year deal. So you may check this deal by calling your local office. By the way, I live in Bay Area/San Francisco.

since timewarner boughtout comcast here in the dfw areas, i may cancel my services with them all together once my 1 year promo is up in october. tw prices are redicculously high plus there are no free installation.

i wonder if timewarner will replace comcast nationwide?

Darn, I'm a new customer and called and they said they have no deals like that going on... Mountain View, CA

Sounds more like a retention deal. Both people that mentioned the deal already had cable with Comcast, so it stands to reason Comcast was worried about them leaving. Perhaps that's why you couldn't get it.

I'm in the COX monopoly, and I never see any discounted sign-up services for INTERNET (except for buying digital phone AND full-service TV digital AND cable internet). I see discounts for Comcast and Adelphia, but NEVER for Cawks even after they went through the private buy-out.

Could anyone (insider/well-informed) illuminate why COX/cawks never has discounts? (location left coast, CA, now)

Thanks.

Thanks.Because they suck Cox/Cawks?

Interesting. I'm in Chico too. I'll have to check it out.

it had nothing to do with retention... i just signed up for Comcast a couple weeks ago. I called to upgrade my service to the promo, and instead they gave me an even better promo. Again, the number on the ad is 1-888-824-8078.

you rule!

just called and got it. couldn't have been easier.

seemed a little too easy.. i hope they didn't lie to me! haha

thanks!

Hmmm...isn't there like a $5/month charge or something like that for each digital box? Btw, does it say when the expiration date is?

Can all you people that are getting success with please state your locations... Which cities/states please... That might make it easier. I want to upgrade from standard cable to HD for Football season, so a deal like this will be great.

mikesay98 said: [Q]Hmmm...isn't there like a $5/month charge or something like that for each digital box? Btw, does it say when the expiration date is? The regular monthly fee that i posted includes ONE cable box. each additional (i believe) is $5 a month. If you dont buy additional boxes but still have more TVs connected to the wall coaxial jack, you still get full standard cable, just no use of the On Demand service (basically).

the $24.99 offer says that it expires 9/24/06, but since the 19.99 promo was given over the phone, i did not get an expiration date.

I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow, if deal goes through this will be hot!

Deal are by county I believe. The Sacramento office provides deals for the Sacramento area, not Bay Area or other locations. So deals may differ.

I am in bay area and i got digital silver for 15$ for 6 months

i agree that's amazing. i would serously appreciate more info. time for college football!

COMCAST Subscribers... My 12 month promo cable/high speed internet just expired from last year and they jacked my my bill up over $30 dollars. I live in Arlington, VA where the only competition currently is Directv and the dish network. I tried a few times calling Comcast to lower my bill back to the promo rate but they wouldn't do it. Then I did the following to lower my bill back to the lower rate.

All you have to do is call up Comcast and tell them that you are canceling your service because you found a better price with their competition. Tell them you want to cancel your service in like 15 days so in case they call your bluff you can call back a few days later and cancel your cancel request. They told me that they would lower my bill back to the promo price.

All the lower price games work in they have any comepetition... I am in Jersey City and have hardly seen any work with Comcast here...

Sucks to be paying 45.00 per month for internet.

With the $19.99 promotion, any idea if they'll let you tack on DVR for the additional fee per month?

For the SF area, the 19.99 package seems to be only available in Alameda [County?] Not in the peninsula (San Mateo).

Anyone had different experiences?

No go again with that number in Mountain View, they transferred me to a Bay Area call center. Only deals are 39.99 for digital for first 3 months or 29.99 for standard cable.

Just called it's only for City of Alameda in the Bay Area at least. Bummer... the best deal is $33 for 6 months for standard digital which is all over their TV ads, then it's $50 after that.

He's talking about the $33 x 3 promo deal. Basically you pay $33 for cable tv, $33 for internet, and $33 for their phone service (voip). i think it is for 6 months, then you pay full price.

Currently Comcast had a promotion for HSI and Digital Cable of $24.99/each with free installation. I think the promotion code for that is 'ONE' in Sacramento area only.

junkfat said: [Q]Currently Comcast had a promotion for HSI and Digital Cable of $24.99/each with free installation. Nothing for me in San Jose, CA. I'm not eligible for any promotions again until February 2007 (unless they are upgrades) because my 3-month Digital Silver promotion just ended and I'm on a $20/mo. internet promotion through November. C o m c a s t s u x.

Maybe I should try another CSR later or say I'm going to cancel my service.

Thanks for sharing, snowairg. I'm also in San Jose, and I hope to see what I can get as soon as I can get around to calling. Currently, I'm paying $50 for Digital Silver with one HD receiver and another standard receiver. (I'm also paying $32.99 for HSI, but I'm not terribly concerned about that b/c I expense this for work.)

Nada in Philly. I've got extended basic plus HSI.

I'm waiting for Verizon to finish installing fiber in my hood - and then I'll switch everything over to them. Wife refuses to allow a sat dish on the house, so Comcast has my by the huevos and knows it.

jskirwin said: [Q]Nada in Philly. I've got extended basic plus HSI.

How much you paying per month? I got comcast digital cable for $35 a month. no premium channels.

Is that extended basic digital cable package?

FinalProphecy - Which package did they give you? Was it the digital classic package or the enhanced cable package?

I just finished a phone call with Comcast call center (1hr 37mins), asking straight for the supervisor and saying I am thinking to cancel the service.

I am offered Digital Silver + HBO HD + Starz! HD for $39.95.
Currently on their $19.99 for the HSI.

I was trying to get the Digital Silver + HBO HD for $29.99 but he can't give the price.

San Francisco, CA

<-Sacramento, CA

I have standard cable for $48.95/mo
They offered HBO + digital cable for $49.95/mo...not $19.99/mo

Does anyone have a scan of the ad?

I'm in sacramento, and all they offered was the digital + HBO for $49.99.

If I switch from analog cable to digital or digital/HD, will I still be able to plug a plain coax cable (without STB) into a TV and watch the lower channels (2-50). In other words, does digital cable still provide the lower channels as analog? I ask because I have several older DVRs that I don't want to use STBs on. Thx

Yes you can. Last time I was on digital cable I did the same thing. I didn't want to pay 5 bucks a month for the box in a room that we didn't watch very much TV. I was still able to connect using a regular coaxial cable and watch stations 0 through 99.

Sorry to bump this thread just to answer an old question, but I just wanted to set the record straight on this. The above is possible in SOME areas of the country, it all depends on the setup of your local network. Here in Brookline, MA we CANNOT get all of the normal cable channels without the digital box (I believe they've gone to a nearly all-digital network). We have 2 tvs connected here, one with a box and one without. The one lacking the box only gets a few channels (networks, pbs, USA, and FX, along with the shopping channels are the highlights). Without the box, we are unable to view channels like ESPN (channel 15), TBS, TNT, comedy central, etc. All of these channels are <channel 99, but will not come in without a box attached. I would ask some very specific questions before commiting if you're thinking of going this route...
