I have owned one of these units for a while. while I enjoy it and it works great with my usb 1 gig usb stick (more than 128 songs) it has some issues. -1. The radio quality sucks -2. It only works with certain memory sticks (get a 1 gb sandisk micro) -3. Its scrolling titles are very annoying -4. Some of the units are flaky. Luckily you have WalMart returns
However roadmaster tech support is fantastic and takes care of all problems.

soldering is overrated anyhow. Just use simple butt connectors and clamp them down. If you can't find a harness (since this is kind of a no-name brand), just get the splice connectors and splice it into your current car's harness.
I had to sit and think about this... but this is really a great deal. Sure it's a knock off brand, and it might not be the best thing out there, but it uses USB and SD, both a "non-movable" source, so this deck is a perfect choice for those that have a car with abusive suspension (from lifted jeep to lowered import) and tend to scratch and wreck CDs, and since it doesn't have a big name brand on it most thieves won't look twice at it. Good deal OP. |

If you need a wire harness adapter, check out Wal-Mart as well. A few months back, I bought one from Circuit City for around $20 and found one at Wal-Mart that was compatible for $7. I bought it and returned the CC one. |

Clarion DB365USB - $129
JVC KD-G720 - $169 The Crutchfield page says "Connect it to the KD-G720's USB input and charge your compatible player while you listen." Does it take USB drives? Edit: looking at the reviews it does take USB drives.
In the description, the Clarion is compatible with USB storage drives. |

WalMart has harness for about $7 (I think someone already mentioned that above). You will also need a DIN kit (since your CRV has a double DIN stereo system (just a guess), this is a single DIN system, which is available at WalMart for about $15 or $20.
If someone wants to test his soldering skills, I have seen soldering irons at dollar stores, try tho out. Of course, soldering is not required. Simple connections with electrical tape will work just fine.
Also, most after market systems (again I am not sure about this one)provide more power then what factory speakers can handle. So, you might have to upgrade those as well. |

Actually, soldering is quite undesirable in the dash. Wal-Mart sells red screw-on dual connectors, very very effective. The UPC for these is 063561005600. And about the speakers, most factory speakers can handle the power. In fact, many stock stereos have more power than aftermarket ones. |

If you're copying them as "data files" and they're not working in other players, double check that the windows security didn't lock them down. I copied half a dosen CDs after windows media player 10 before I realized that the security turned back on. Make sure you turn off "copy protect music" under tools - options - rip music. I have found no great way to remove the security after the fact, so you should just delete the songs on your computer and rip them again with the protection off.
Thanks, I'll try this. |

Sturmie said:ajny said:Maybe it can let you have multiple folders, each with a max of 128 files/songs. Of course, this is just a guess on my part....just spoke to larry at Roadmaster...he said that they never tested with that many songs, but they are getting a lot of reports from customers that 128 is limit...after that, it won't read any more tracks...my SoundStorm does the same at 500 tracks.
larry said he's been swamped with calls and hasn't had a chance to test himself...i'm assuming if multiple customers are reporting this, then 128 is most likely going to be the limit...i have a feeling that most people that have a head unit with usb/sd are geeks (like me) and have a pretty good idea what they're doing when it comes to technology; therefore, the reports are prolly accurate.
Odd, my unit displays a file limit at 168, and I know I have more song files on the cd than that. However, I've never actually tried to find the limit to playback though... |

I'm still using my vintage 1993 Clarion Pro Audio 5750 cassette player w/ CD changer controls that I removed from my previous car that I got rid of in 1995 and put in my "new" 1995 car. I don't use the casette player portion of it anymore (got the CD changer). I doubt that this WalMart player will sound as good or last nearly as long. |

I bought the one from Target ( slight different design, same features though) I have to say that I really like it, especially for the the price. I'm not an audiohpile or anything and probably couldn't tell the different between a $500 and $5,000 hometheater system, but the sound seems good. No static or crackling or anything like it being too quiet.
So far I've used the Tuner, Radio, CD/MP3 CD player, and SD card slot and all work great. Only thing that kinda annoys me is if you have a crapload of songs, you can't scroll through them, but you can jump by 10. It reads most of my CDs (a couple unmarked ones didn't load; could just be blanks). Super easy to set radio stations as favorites. Has a mute button which is great if your cell rings or you're pulling up to a drive-thru. By default, the volume knob makes a beep sound every time you raise or lower the volume, but that can be turned off. It looks really nice with the backlit buttons. In my opinion, this is definately worth the $70.
Also, if you turn it off in mid-song, the next time you turn it on, it'll just start the song over, not at the point where you left off. I haven't tested the song limit, but it says up to a 2gb SD card will work with it. Also, apparently someone was able to hook up a USB powered hard drive and it worked. |

I had an alphine before it got stolen and the interface look nearly identical to this. The alpine had tons of features but somehow it sounded no where near this unit. I love the SD slot... very convenient. This is a great price. |
