Members of Office Depot's Worklife Rewards program were recently sent coupons for 60% off the price of all OD brand media. These coupons are good from 9/21/06 through 9/23/06. At the same time, Office Depot's brand of dual-layer DVD+R media is going on sale today for $40 OTD for a 25-pack. The sale lasts through the 23rd. So, with the sale already on, using the coupon will take off another 60%, bringing the price down to only $16 for a 25-pack, which is the lowest price I've ever seen for DL media. It's only 2.4x, and the manufacturer is either Ritek or Ricoh, but at this price, surely you can try at least one pack.

And for the record, if you have the original coupon, this is not YMMV. OD intentionally sends these coupons out to coincide with existing sales, so yes, the coupon does stack on top of something that is already on sale. In addition, there have even been occassions in the past when they've accepted scans of the coupon, or even given you the discount if all you had was the coupon code, but getting them to accept that now is definitely YMMV. If you don't have this coupon, do NOT ask about it in this thread. Go to the official OD coupon thread and ask about it, or see if someone in the one-time use coupon thread is willing to give you one that they don't plan to use. You still have time left to try and obtain one.

Nice post SickTeddyBear,
Just two minutes before I saw your post, I was online looking at the OD Flyer and realized this deal. I had that coupon sitting on the kitchen counter. Hoping that there would be a sale on OD brand this week.

You're right, this is about the best deal around on DL. I've purchased these a few times and am pleased. They burn well on my NEC3550a. Slow (2.4x), but at this price that's fine.

The coupon says "limit 2". But that may be YMMV. Last week I used the other recent 50% off coupon for the 50 packs of DVD-R which said "limit one". I bought six with no problem. Months ago did the same thing with no problem.

Also, I think I might get bold, and try stacking that ubiquitous $10off$50 they were giving out weeks ago. I still have about ten of those (yes, it was that ridiculous; they were giving them away like water).

Two packs will be $80. First you use the $10off$50, then, after that, you whip out the 60% off. It might require an override, but it's worth a shot.

$80 - $10 - ($70 x 0.60) = $28 or $14 per pack

Got mine for $13 per pack. Bought three packs, used the 60% off and a $10off$50 with $2 of papermate grip pens as filler. The $10off$50 required an override, 'cause it seems it isn't even good on media (sometimes OD can be a bit ridiculous with their exclusions).

Thanks to the OP. Went this AM and picked up two packs with the 60% off coupon. Unfortunately did not have any other coupons to use, but still pretty good price for DL's.

Based on past experience (10/50), CD/DVD media are tech items and phones aren't. But some mgr/cashiers won't let you use 10/50 on phones anyway (even though it works w/o an override).

Are these Dual Layers any good. I just spent $25 on 20pack of Verbatims.... Should I take them back and get these instead, 25pack for $16 is certainly a better price

I use plextor to verify the burned disc and found a lot of error.
No any error found on verbatim's.
They were burned on pioneer 111d

So no deal? I have a 15off75 coupon here that should stack with this deal but I'm not going to spend money on crap media that will freeze during playback. I googled the media code and saw a lot of negative comments on these.
