I have this unit already and really enjoy it. Now the wife gets one also.
For the unit that you have, did you buy a larger capacity SD card? I am thinking a 1 GB SD card, but don't know if all of north america (canada included) will fit on it. Any insight? Thanks.
With the maps that they included on mine (rev 7 i think) it was slightly higher than 1gb, but supposedly rev 8 (may or may not already be out) is supposed to fit all of north america on a 1gb card. You can get the 2gb cards fairly cheap anyway though.
I think all new Garmin GPS comes with City Navigator V8 already which is my case when I receive i3 from Costco last week. I read somewhere (maybe from Dwynee in i3 Costco thread) that the map size is bigger, you may require a 2GB SD card for the whole continental USA.
The good thing about i3 is that it can use AA batteries and so small so you can put it just beside the rearview mirror. If you don't look closely, you won't know that it is a GPS device.

I bought mine about a year and a half ago when it came out for twice the price. It was the best money I ever spent, even at twice the price. I have the v6 maps and actually existed on a 256 meg car for a while. When I bought it, the dude that sold it to me mentioned that even though I might want to get a 512 meg card, I should consider two 256's because whenever doing a search (for POI) on the card, it has to index all the contents. So a larger card might mean slower performance.
Now, while I didn't notice a significant day-to-day slow down when I switched to 512 meg, I will say this... you can fit A TON of the US on 512 meg of memory. 2 Gig typically fits all of the US (and parts of canadia). So, unless your day to day driving requires you to drive over more than half the country, you will likely have no issues using either a 512 or 1 gig card. You might want to consider a high speed card though.

Supraman,
I am using mine with a 1 gig SD card. It loaded the complete US. 2 gig SD cards were not available then. If I can find a cheap 2 gig SD card, I will get it and load everything onto it. We should be able to get the newest version (v.8) which will have more of the POI's. These are really handy when traveling!!! For everyday use, a 1 gig SD card will work fine.
Can Buydigs let you return it 3 months after you use it because it either broke or you dont like it. I DONT THINK SO! And even with tax this is still cheaper, so move your thread crapping somewhere else.

Okay, now I have both this one and the i3 on order from last week. Luckily, Costco has an easy return policy.
Is this unit that much better than the i3? I know the i3 is smaller, which is appealing. But, I'm assuming that the peformance of this unit is better??? Can anybody compare the two?
