Actually, people are talking about higher resulotion than 1080P HDTV now.
1080P HDTV video looks very grainny on the Sharp 72" TV when I visited Japan.

In a 45" screen, one would be hard pressed to see the difference between 720 lines and 1080 lines, unless you were sitting very close. With larger screens, 1020 lines becomes more important.
